great brunch!

oved the atmosphere here! lovely place! the buffet for brunch was HUGE! so much to choose from, so many different dishes to try! the dessert section was so big, oh my! if i could wish for one more thing, i'd like to see more warm/hor options - all the food was cold or slightly warm and i like some warmer stuff for brunch as well.
besides that - totally worth a visit!!

Pros: so many options!!, really tasty, service & atmosphere

Cons: no warm options for brunch

Best vegan brunch place I know so far.

I went there twice in the last few months and was both times very satisfied. The first time my companion and I went there without having a reservation after being rejected at 'Viasko' for the exact same reason and had the possibility to sit at a table as long as the people who had made a reservation had not yet arrived; afterwards we got a table which had become free in the meantime. It definitely is recommended to make a reservation, especially for the hours between 11am - 1pm, because, at least the two times I went there, that's the time frame in which the place is most likely to be pretty full, slowly emptying afterwards.

There are quite a lot of varying dishes, almost all very tasty, some being to oily and salty for my taste buds. The dishes vary in their degree of processing from having very "whole" ingredients to being pretty processed, i.e. deep fried, or, especially in the case of the desserts, being - "classically" and basically made from sugar and fat. So if you want to eat pretty healthy stuff, you can do so quite well, and quite better, it seems to me, than e.g. at 'Viasko'. The price is actually - as far as I can tell - below the Berlin average for vegan brunches and the kinds and amounts of tasty food you can shovel down your throat for that really makes you ( or in that case, me ) not regret it. Of course, drinks are not included and somewhat pricy ( like everywhere else ), but I actually got my green tea "renewed" once, i.e. got new hot water, for nothing.

The staff is very, very friendly, complaisant and genuinely pretty eager to satisfy you - although the degree of that encountered last time might have been due to my mother accompanying me and the lovely waitress thinking that she'd had to "convince" a supposedly non-vegan guest ( which the whole place did ), haha.

I will definitely come back.

One of the best vegan brunches in Berlin

Berlin has a few very good brunch options but what makes Playing with Eels special that it’s all freshly handmade stuff. Marina, the owner (you will sometimes see her, but the mainly stays in the kitchen) makes everything from scratch with just one more staff. So no processed foods, not faux meat (although I personally really like fake meat. But didn’t miss anything). Because it is such a „Selfmade“ place it was sometimes chaotic in the past so make sure you make a reservation via Facebook or call. It can get very busy and sometimes they have to announce on Facebook or their website that they stay closed.
The vibe is very Berlin here, in the middle of Kreuzberg with a living room flair.

Pros: Really creative and different food , All house made , Fair price for what you get

Cons: Sometimes chaotic (check Facebook/website before), Can be booked out quickly

Great buffet

First of all I recommend to reserve a table in advance as this place is quite popular with locals.
There's a huge variety of warm and cold dishes. Everything we tried was extremely delicious.
The best brunch in town!

Pros: huge variety of vegan dishes, has outdoor seating, friendly waitresses

Cons: only opened on Saturdays

Not a must.

The food felt a bit uninspired, like vegan food from the 90’s. Ok level of coziness. Not worth a detour.

Nice place for meeting friends on weekends

You should go there if you are searching for a nice place to have brunch at saturdays. Don’t forget to make a reservation, it is very well visited. The only problem is that the staff is not trained for service but they are very friendly and helpful.

Pros: good food

Cons: there are also milk options for coffee... why?!

Amazing saturday brunch buffet

The atmosphere is really cosy, there is plenty of food at the buffet with a wide range of creative dishes and known delicious classics. Perfect if you want to taste a lot of different food without having to wonder whether it is vegan. Oh and you could literally dance in the huge bathroom.

Pros: unlimited supply of delicious vegan buffet, cosy atmosphere, cheap for what you get

I will never come back!

I came to eat the brunch but they told me the restaurant was closed (although people were still eating inside) because they closed at 1pm instead of 3pm!

Update your planning in order to avoid people to make 15 kilometers with train to arrive in a closed restaurant!!!

And no excuse, just a simple "Bye"

cosy atmosphere, good food

This place is so pretty inside and boasts arguably the biggest bathroom ever. The seats are comfy and the place is dimly lit and pretty. I love that it is also a bookshop.

The menu is fantastic - reasonably priced with lots of healthy variety. The cakes are good too and when you order a hot drink you get a bite sized portion of cake with it! So nice!

Staff are lovely and friendly, service is prompt, and the portions are crazy big for the price.

Surrounded by lots of other vegan places too, but this ties with No Milk Today as my favourite

Pros: staff, portion to price ratio, atmosphere

Delicious Cake + awesome interior!

I tried the suuuper fudgy chocolate brownie and berry milkshake. So good! I loved the interior of the store because it’s bookshop-café combo.

Pros: interior, vegan cake

good coffe - vegan soup - and many many books

If you like books, you might like this place. I feel like in a living rooms, but with the option to order some nice coffee, or a nice herbal tee and read some pages in a good book.

The also offer vegan sandwiches and a daily soup. Perfect for a cozy autumn after noon.

Excellent food

Really delicious salads, soups and wraps! The dishes are 100% vegan. The only vegetarian option you have is milk for your coffee. Try the beetroot booster and some chocolate cake! :-)

cozy

It is a bookshop and it feels like it. I love the atmosphere there. The staff is nice, it´s all calm and they have comfy armchairs everywhere. They offer all drinks with soy milk and had three vegan soups, some vegan sandwiches and a nice choice of vegan bakery. Go there!
But hey: As I see it the only meat you offer is some slices in one sandwich. Go vegetarian!

Pros: cozy, friendly, most of it is vegan

Cons: meat

Haven in Kreuzberg

Playing with Eels is café, bookstore and gallery all in one. The premises are bright and well-spaced, there are comfortable chairs and sofas. There is a fresh daily soup on the menu and there are delicious vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and other small dishes available. The coffee is an organic one which is obtained from a local roasting house. Free Wi-Fi is available.

Pros: most friendly staff, nice atmosphere, cool name
