Vegan food for the mainstream - Edit
There is finally a fully vegan restaurant inside COEX mall, and it is run by the large Korean corporation Pulmuone.
Read moreThey offer a diverse menu featuring fusion dishes with Korean influence, e.g. pasta, rice bowls, veganized Bulgogi, tofu cutlet and Tteokbokki. Dessert options are currently only a tiramisu and the company's yogurts based on oat milk, which is very sweet.
Prices are average for the area and portions are balanced and filling.
I haven't had more than one dish yet, but I really liked the crispy tofu cutlet, and am planning to go back and try more dishes.
Btw, the restaurant is prepared for international customers, since they have a full English menu with descriptions and hand it to anyone who doesn't look like a local.
Otherwise, you can place your order via an ipad in the most modern way.
The restaurant has many seats available, yet it can occur that you have to wait in line for a table! It gets very crowded on weekends and for dinnertime on weekdays. Service seems to be still in training or a bit overwhelmed by customers.
Pros: taste ok / good, fair prices
Cons: rushed service, cold and crowded atmosphere , didnt like dessert options

Saved me as a vegan during visit to Seoul - Edit
I was visiting Seoul on a business trip and was really struggling to eat vegan. I visited this gem in the mall after a recommendation from a local and ended up going there twice. The food was very fast which fit nicely into my schedule. The interior was well-maintained and modern. The menu was small but the food itself was delicious, filling, and in budget for me. It was a saving grace when visiting, not speaking much Korean and really hungry for good vegan food and a proper meal.

Cons: Menu on the smaller side

Better than expected - 3.5 - Edit
A lot of corporations are opening up vegan restaurants and sometimes the execution isnt great, but im really pleased with Plantude
Read moreThe food was pretty good. Katsu was really good, especially the sauce. The portion was decent for the price. The lasagna was tasty but not really my favorite texture. Also it was a very small portion, even though its one of the higher priced items
Avocado salad was underwhelming because they use primarily iceberg lettuce and not a lot of it. If they added more leafy greens I think this would be great. The chips add a nice crunch and dressing is light and not overwhelming. For the price it also feels too small so it could also benefit from some tofu or something but I have a feeling this wont be staying on the menu
Tofu tiramisu was good. I was shocked at how un-sweet it was, for me a good thing. It would be nice if they also had a larger size for this.
Interior of the restaurant is simple, clean and inviting. There are a lot of seats, especially for singles. Staff was attentive.
One negative point is the cutlery really sucks. Its very heavy and round and they dont provide chopsticks.
Its definitely nice to have an option like this in the area, and if Im around I would like to come back and try some more dishes

Plantude at Coex Mall, Seoul, South Korea - Edit
Wife and I were super happy to discover this brand new restaurant at the Coex mall yesterday. Though we've been to Korea many times over the last 20 years, this is the first time we've been here since switching to a whole food plant-based (WFPB) diet nearly 3 years ago and we'd been super curious how we'd be able to eat when we're out and about.
Read moreTechnically, probably none of the food at Plantude is adherent to WFPB as the rice appears to be white rice and there's def. oil being used, but we were still happy to find this place. I got a middle-eastern-inspired dish (the name was something like Mahaburu..... maybe). It was basically like a middle-eastern bbibbimbap (Korean mixed rice dish). It didn't blow me away but it was good. It came with some sort of middle-eastern-centric paste on the side which I added completely into the dish to amp up the flavor. It also came with a small side of kimchi and jalapeños which I also eventually added completely to further jazz/spice it up. Wife got Sundubu (Korean tofu stew) which came with some cross between tofu salad & bbibbimbap. Again, she felt the need to add all the sides to it to jazz it up a bit. So, our only complaint with flavor was that the dishes we got were JUST a little on the bland side - but not bad at all. I'm certain for people of some cultures, the flavor/seasoning would've been perfect.
During the hour or so we were there, other than me, not a single man came in. That should be a bit concerning for this place b/c I don't know if a restaurant in that mall can survive only on women customers - if my one hour is representative of anything (IDK). Though the food on the menu is totally fine (IMO) for both sexes (not a bunch of salads), I'd recommend they add a couple of man-enticing dishes (if there can be such a thing) like burgers & maybe a grilled sandwich with prominent photos to let men know this is for everyone.
Would be great if rice dishes had option of brown rice but overall, we enjoyed this place and will try more of the menu during our two month stay in town. Hope this plays does REALLY well to stay in business indefinitely.
Pros: 100% Vegan, Food is tasty with intriguing menu, Great interior design and friendly staff
Cons: Food needed all of side dishes to spice it up, Might appear geared towards women but not true, Would like to see some sandwiches on menu

Yes!! - Edit
So exciting to have an all-vegan corporate place in a high traffic area like Coex! Not only does this area need some all vegan options, it really shows how great vegan food is to the masses and that is so important! I’ve been twice so far and have tried almost everything on the menu. I’m also always super happy to have vegan Korean food and as usual, there was nothing that I didn’t like! The katsu and the lasagna are probably my favorites so far. Love it all tho!

Delicious! - Edit
I had the lasagna and it was delicious!! The "pasta" is made out of very thin tofu slices. The tomato sauce was very tasty and mixed with mushrooms and aubergines.
Read moreAlso they do have an English menu if you ask the staff for it!
Cons: portion was a bit small. Seeing from other plates, the katsu or bibimbap were bigger portions!

Nice varied menu - Edit
This is the flagship vegan restaurant location of a big food company. The menu is a bit unfocused but they just opened. We tried a wide variety of dishes, some were better than others. Meal was good but nothing really stood out. That being said, it is worth a try.
Read moreWhile I dont like COEX as a location, this area of Seoul really needs more vegan restaurants, so it is a welcome addition.
Cons: COEX!
