All the gelato is vegan, and cakes

Great oat ice cream. All vegan, including cakes and fudge.
The staff told me the only non vegan items are 99 flakes and popping candy toppings.

An island of deliciousness in a sea of mediocre vegan options!

So surprised to find that all the gelato options were vegan...and such variety! Usually count myself lucky if I find even one vegan option at an ice cream parlour. However in this case I was spoilt for choice, which helped make up for the somewhat poor overpriced options at the other food outlets on the Holy Island of Lindesfarne. Anyway back to the ice cream. I am afraid that I really went all out to try as many flavours as possible during my 3 night stay..in fact I went in twice on one of the days! Prices very reasonable, could get half a scoop, which was basically one scoop for £1.50, so I am ashamed to say that on many of the occasions I went in I had 4 x half generous scoops in one sitting! On to the flavours...there were the more mainstream flavours and sorbets such as cookies and cream (lovely!) and sorbets which I didn't try due to the fact usually they are the only options available at most outlets and I wanted to try flavours I don't usually have the opportunity to try.
Tried as many flavours as possible, have to recommend the eton mess, millionaire shortbread, cinnamon bun, toffee apple, jaffa cake, lemon meringue pie and other scoops of deliciousness that escape my memory for now. All the gelato is made with oat milk, and the young lady who served up was absolutely lovely and welcoming! For those planning to visit Lindisfarne especially if by public transport I would recommend bringing your own food for the duration you are there, as apart from this lovely gem of an ice cream parlour, the food both for vegan and non vegan is not very good quality, and is overpriced for what it is. Also the few pubs serving hot food in the evening are often booked up in advance, so unless you have booked or brought your own food you would be very likely to be going hungry in the evening...also no proper food shops on the island where you could pick something nutritious up. The post office has a few shelves with very basic items plus milk and eggs which obviously is not good for vegans. No fresh fruit and veg. Thankfully I had brought some instant noodles and fruit and veg with me, plus other vegan staples with me, so I was ok. Dread to think how I would have survived apart from the lovely ice cream if I hadn't!

Delicious fully vegn gelato selection

Surprised to find this place, in an area where chips are rarely vegan! They had about 12 or more ice cream flavours and all were vegan. Even the little ‘spoon’ is edible and made from oats (vegan too).
Tempted to return to Holy island just for the ice cream!

Delicious in the perfect location

Wasn’t expecting to have any vegan ice cream while away on holiday but was so happy when I stumbled on pilgrims. All the ice cream was vegan and it was clearly labelled - I was so surprised.
They had such a wide range of flavours to choose from, I found it really hard to pick. In the end I got the mint choc chip and the mudslide which were both amazing but huge scoops! Probably would have been fine with one scoop.
I was with non vegans who also got some ice cream and they loved it!

Pros: Loads to choose from , Clearly labelled , Delicious ice cream

Holy Ice Cream!

An entirely vegan selection of gelato.

Recyclable tins and edible spoons.

This is no ordinary ice cream shop.

Pilgrim's Gelato is heavenly.

I had the Iced Latte, Mint Choc Chip and Salted Caramel. There is a great variety of flavours and the ice cream is up there with the best.

Even my non-vegan relatives claimed it was 'the best ice cream' they have have ever tried.

Sustainable, ethical and delicious!

It is worth travelling to the tidal island for.

However, not everything is vegan.

Pros: 100% Vegan Gelato, Great Variety, Sustainable

Fantastic range of choices!

Visited here after a long day walking around the island in the sun. They had around 8 options for gelato still available 15 minutes before closing. All gelato is vegan and delicious. We tried their summer flavour, wild cherry and mint choc chip (a flavour I’ve not found since ditching dairy)

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Massive scoop sizes

Cons: On Holy Island so not always accessible

Absolutely delicious!

I've never had so much choice for gelato! Minto choc chip. Was always my fave ice cream flavour and I've never had it since turning vegan so I was so happy to be able to enjoy it for the first time in over 4 years! The flavours were so tasty and I was really impressed with thr price too. If only they did vegan fudge too but then again my purse (and waistline) would not thank me 😂
Well done Pilgrim!

Pros: Plenty flavours (all vegan) , Good value , Tasty!

Must visit on the island

The ice cream we got from here was amazing! Probably the best chocolate ice cream I'd ever had. I had a scoop of the apple crumble ice cream too and my boyfriend had cherry pie and orange choc chip. All flavours were delicious. A must visit when on the island.

Did someone say Vegan Gelato!!!

Went in not realising the whole section of Gelato was vegan but oh my!!!! Gorgeous! I ordered 2 Scoop Cherry and Apricot Crumble in a black cone with edible spoon. My partner ordered the Chocolate Mudpie which was divine! The Edible spoon was a little hard but the rest was to die for.

Would 100% recommend a visit! 👌🏾

Pros: Completely vegan gelato selection!, Choice of flavours!

Superb gelato, amazing flavours!

Visited once and then made the trip especially twice more, on a five day stay in Northumberland. Great range of all vegan gelato flavours. Brought genuine joy to me (vegan) and my son (dairy allergy). Really friendly staff. Had to queue but definitely worth the wait.

Amazing vegan gelato!

Such a lovely find on the beautiful spot that is Holy Island. All the gelato at this little place is vegan, but not the fudge. About 8 or 10 different flavours of gelato to choose from. I went for Mint Choc Chip and Mudslide and the Mudslide was like liquid chocolate dessert. 🤤 Also loved the emo-friendly black cone!

Pros: Lots of vegan gelato flavours, Really friendly service

Cons: No vegan fudge

Awesome Vegan Ice Cream

Found this place on Happycow and was I glad. All the ice creams are vegan made with homemade oat milk by the owner who is allergic to cows milk. I tried their new flavour apricot crumble and wow it was so good. It was creamy as anything, best vegan ice cream I've tried and I've tried many in my 34 years as a vegan. If I lived nearby I would never be away. Highly recommended.

Pros: 100% vegan ice cream

Hidden gem 💎!

I walked in the cute little shop and asked which flavours were vegan and was pleasantly surprised to find out all the ice cream flavours are vegan! The best news I had heard all day! I got the berry smoothie and raspberry ripple ice cream which went so well together and were so creamy and delicious!

Pros: All ice cream is vegan! , Variety of flavours.

Amazing choice of vegan ice creams

We visited in May 2021 after someone recommended here. They had around a dozen flavours of ice cream, all of which were vegan. We tried four flavours between us and they were all tasty. If you get a tub you get a little chocolate spoon (vegan of course) which you eat when you're finished - very environmentally friendly! The fudge isn't yet vegan but they said they're working on it.

Ok

Excellent friendly staff and owner, but long / slow queue… very tasty gelato but edible spoon a bit strange. Felt that the flavours could have been more intense. Fudge may be vegan soon.

Pros: Lots of vegan gelato choice

Cons: Fairly pricey, Long queue, Flavour a bit faint for me
