Warm food on a cold day.

Don't trust the maps! It's the other side of the town hall by the bus station.

It's super friendly and quaint. The portions were healthy and the cost was entirely reasonable.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Cheap, The staff treat you like they've known you for 20

Cons: Some food is Linda McCartney/Quorn (not Homemade)

Such a find

We stumbled over this place today, and were delighted with our find. Great range of vegan dishes - cakes to die for! Even my friend, who is a meat eater, said the food was delicious.
Will definitely be back, and will have a proper nosy around the vintage shop upstairs next time.

Pros: Delicious toasties - try the BBQ It's Not Chicken, Friendly, knowledgeable staff, Cozy atmosphere

Cons: Cash only at the moment

Excellent

Brilliant. Lovely place, nice music, very relaxing.
The staff were really helpful and nice. The food was gorgeous. Especially the frittata. We even took a second lot of cake home because it was so nice. And to top it off the bill was no where near as much as we expected it to be.
A lovely guilt free afternoon out. We will definitely be back. Afternoon tea looks fab so will be back to try that out too.

Pros: Excellent food, Great value for money, Lovely staff

Cons: None

vegan food

Lovely vintage setting and friendly cosy atmosphere.. I had bbq loaded fries, caramel & nutty torte.. & oat coffee latte.. gorgeous home cooked food, fantastic value for money.. the only eatery I feel comfortable dining on my own.. there is a shop upstairs full of pretty vintage trinkets, clothes, bags, candles & much more.. it is 100% vegan.. but if you enjoy tasty food you must try here .. the prices are very reasonable.. you won’t be disappointed

Good, but some errors

Went in the daytime - very simple menu - no problems with that but it was a struggle to find out the drinks / tea options. The food was uncomplicated but very tasty.

Mains were served 10 minutes apart which made dining awkward.

However the main problem was that Tesco handwash (bathroom) and Dettol table spray are not - to my knowledge - vegan. This makes me wonder about the washing up liquid. Or the sauces. What else isn't checked?

Amateur errors, and I do wish that Happycow had a separate field to grade this sort of thing as it's a common problem. Astonish products are vegan trademarked and cost 99p! Simple!

Intend to try again later in the year as these may be 'teething' problems. They could be really brilliant.

Cash only. Prices reasonable.

Pros: Tasty food.

Cons: Uses non-vegan non-food products, which creates un

Best thing to happen in St Helens

I have been to the Phoenix Eatery a couple of times now. The food is wonderful; the owner and staff are very welcoming. I've had a few friends (non-vegans) asking me about it and wanting to pay a visit. I imagine I'll be making lots of stops here. It's very conveniently situated in the town centre, close to a bus station and walking distance to the train station. The St Helens theatre is opposite, so would be great to visit the Phoenix Eatery before watching a show.

Pros: Excellent food, varied menu, good value for money., Situated in a very convenient location., Easy to get to by bus & train, also nearby carpark

Best vegan food to date!

I just moved to St Helens and had this restaurant recommended to me by vegan friends as somewhere new to check out. It has everything! The food here is fresh, delicious and has blown my mind as well as my family that aren’t vegan. If you are new to veganism then I highly recommend trying out the food at Phoenix just to see some of the amazing things that are possible. It is a beautiful space, right in the heart of the town with plenty of places to sit and enjoy your food. The afternoon tea available here gives you a bit of everything so you can really try it all! I know fellow vegans and vegetarians will love this place, bring along friends and family for a slice of cake and a drink to show off how awesome this lifestyle can be!

Pros: Excellent food, Great value for money , Friendly staff

Fab food and staff

Just been in for the first time with my vegetarian son. The food was amazing they do topped fries with Vegan Duck but not duck in Hoisin sauce and meatballs. We couldn't decide which ones we preferred both delicious. Also had a pizza again really tasty.
lovely cosy feeling to the place and a little mooch in the vintage shop above as we waited for our food. Staff lovely and relaxed atmosphere, also found out you can take yoir own booze at the moment.
Will be back for sure thank you!
