Cosy spot for brunch

Nice place for brunch if you're in the area. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

They offer vegan hash and vegan burrito but opted for the vegan breakfast in the end. Not the best vegan sausage I've had and the tofu scramble was lacking in flavour a bit. The highlights were the homemade beans and the haggis which were really tasty! Recommend asking for their tomato ketchup as well which was delicious!

The only sweet option on the day was an empire biscuit which I had. It was very good. Apparently they usually have some vegan pastries as well.

Stunningly average

The vegan breakfast isn’t bad, but needs a lot of work:
- there was a distinct lack of flavour throughout the dish, with the notable exception of the mushrooms (and maybe the haggis)
- the scrambled tofu (very small portion) had no discernible taste
- the beans are very tomato-y
- there was no non-dairy spread for the toast

The potato scone, haggis and sausage were not bad, but altogether it was very unsatisfying, especially for £12. The dish is pretty typical of a lot of vegan options at cafes that cater mostly to meat-eaters - it feels like an afterthought rather than something that’s had proper effort go into it.

If you’re around on a weekday, save your money and head to the excellent (and fully vegan) Parveen’s Canteen just down the hill.

Will be back!

Went in for lunch today and was so impressed at the presentation of the food! Really gorgeous and tastes great. I had the build your own brunch with sourdough topped with wilted spinach, mushrooms and pan seared tofu (so crispy) with a chilli paprika oil dressing. We waited quite a while but it was worth it! You can also preorder and collect some items too.

Pros: Beautiful presentation, Tasty food, Well labelled menu and good options

Cons: Can get quite busy at lunchtimes, Food takes a while to come out

Nice place for vegan brunch

Not fully vegan but quite a few options to choose from. We had the special (tofu and aubergine shakshuka) and an aubergine and vegan feta sandwich. There was also a full vegan breakfast and an option to “build your own brunch” with lots of vegan combinations. I would come back!

Cons: There is a 40p charge for vegan milk in drinks, Hot chocolate mix contains milk powder, No vegan cakes

Incredible breakfast

This food is Michelin star standard. It’s presented beautifully and tastes incredible. Only downside was the 45 minute wait.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Luxury

Cons: Long waits

Ocho is a real hidden gem in Speirs Wharf in Glasgow. They have a varied menu for vegan and meat eaters alike. My vegan breakfast was bursting with colour and multiple flavours!
