Okay ramen

There is only one veggie option and it’s good for what it is, nothing special. But it gets the job done and at least there’s an option if invited out to eat here. I’ve had places where they get crafty with the tofu but these guys just throw in plain tofu, which again isn’t bad but not great.

Cold soup

The one vegan option here is passable, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you had other options. Salty soup that was lukewarm, which left the noodles stiff.

Pretty good ramen

Was really excited seeing that Obu had a “Premium creamy vegan ramen” - sounds really good doesn’t it? The ramen was pretty good, but I didn’t taste the truffle oil it says it has nor did it have the crispy onions or fried burdock. Which was disappointing. The toppings on my bowl seemed to be missing some elements. The broth had a nice mushroom aroma. Not as creamy as I thought it would be.

If we were craving ramen and our favourite place were closed - I would definitely come here over other ramen places though.

The restaurant was really packed inside and out plus people waiting to be seated. As someone who’s worked as a server in the past - I felt bad for the 2 servers working...that’s waaaaaay too many tables for each of them or both to be responsible for. Management needs to put another person on for lunch rush - or help at least run food during the rush.
It was very clear to me that there needs to be a better system for responsibilities of tables to each server plus another person working. Typically, better service can be given if servers are designated sections and have no more than 5 tables each instead of a free for all. Why? Because theres better communication and a knowing of what’s going on with each table instead of two separate people running around not knowing who’s ordered yet, who’s had their drink order taken, who needs their bill, not realizing that people haven’t gotten their napkins/cutlery until it’s requested because of the disorganization, forgetting/never bringing extra requested items such as chili sauce etc. I do not blame the servers at all for what I saw here - they were very friendly, apologetic and trying their best...this is a management issue - put another server on, create a better system, and/or help out.

I’d give the ramen a 3-3.5 - maybe could’ve been better with the missing toppings or if it weren’t made in such a rush
