Good food, positively surprised

I went there with low expectations being on a business trip and unable to choose the location. But there were quite a few vegan options and the staff was nice :)

Cool vibes, very tasty food

Reading the older reviews below here, it seems that this place has changed substantially. The menu is now entirely centred around veggie and vegan food, with (sustainable) meat and fish only offered as side dishes. The menu is an interesting fusion of flavours from around the world, most notably (South) African. The Chakalaka salad was a delight, we also very much enjoyed the chickpea loaded fries and the bobotie. Other things on the menu include pumpkin & lentil biryani, mushroom pie and celeriac 'bitterballen'.

Cons: So popular and busy, they put 6 strangers together on one picnic table which really only fits 4 (unless you're close friends). Quite expensive, as you're advised to order three dishes between two people

Pros: Very interesting menu, hard to choose!

Vegan falafel bij hippe Noorderlicht / Vegan falafel at hip Noorderlicht

Nice hip place to have a Vegan lunch after a visit to the IJ hallen.
I had the Vegan falafel with a chai latte. There are a few vegan options, but more vegetarian options on the menu. You are among many nice plants.

Nice food, clearly labelled vegan options

I came here for an afternoon snack today and had some sweet potato fries with vegan mayonnaise which was really good! I was also happy to see lots of clearly marked vegan options on the menu too (VG)

Limited vegan options

Has some vegan options but not many and runs out easily. Really cosy and food that they do have is good

Great find

Found this place on the app. I had the Rendang curry. The first bite was amazing and every one following it. The oyster mushrooms on top were almost meaty. The vibes of the place was super cool and really fun.

Pros: A few options , Great during summer with outdoor seating , A bit out of the city

Cons: Slow service

very disappointed

I give two stars for the location, which I loved. However, the portions were small and the food arranged with no love. The taste was mediocre and all together the quality of the food stood in no relation to the price. The service was also slow and seemed overwhelmed with even the simplest questions. Sorry, I did not like my stay here at all and will not come back.

Pros: atmosohere

Cons: medium quality food, inappropriate pricing

Location with good vibe

It´s a nice place to meet up just for drinks. It has a laid back vibe to it - good atmosphere. The outside space is perfect in summertime for relaxing with an organic juice or fritz. It´s good that you can also have a snack or meal here, the menu is not extensive but has several options. Did not come here much to eat usually, but can recommend the polenta.

- Occasionally there is also live music.

The location is north of the city center- which makes it a place to relax from the buzz. From central station you get there by crossing the water with the ferry boat (free) to NDSM.

Pros: good atmosphere, outside space

Cool vibes, cool place

Located in a picturesque environment, farther from the city chaos, Noordelicht is a great meeting place not just for drinks, but also for a meal. The menu has quite some veggie options. The flapjack was very good and recommendable!

Great bar, better now for vegans

If Happy Cow were a bar review site, I'd rate Noorderlicht extremely high; the atmosphere, decor, staff friendliness, and live music are all great. I didn't eat here for a long time though, as there were no vegan options, but took the plunge recently as a few things have been introduced on the dinner menu sometime in the last six months. There's hummus and bread, great for a snack, and grilled polenta with roasted vegetables which I can highly recommended. That is everything for now, but if these prove popular, hopefully we might see some more options soon. (The bruschetta on the lunch menu could be made vegan depending on which ingredients are in the soup of the day). The main downside? It's a bit pricey, at 17 Euros for a main.

Pros: friendly staff, atmosphere

Cons: not too much for vegans, expensive
