No No Bones - Edit
I don’t know if this vegan seafood place has a lot of competition in the under-the-sea vegan realm of things but I wouldn’t recommend taking a dip. The block of tofu that was the fish and chips holds no flavor apart from its breaded skin. They should definitely be thinned. Total shrimps-skimp on fries, on top of a wasteful MOUND of spinach. The drinks, although beautifully made, were a bit bland, tasting like soft juice. The salad was good and was the saving grace of the meal. Byebyebeachclub

A unique place with a ton of character. The food and menu are both fantastic. They have excellent choices for lunch, dinner, and brunch. One of the better places in Chicago.

Freaking delicious (and expensive) - Edit
The whole Caribbean theme is great! The “Jaws” bathroom was a blast! The food delicious but maybe to many fried options and not that many healthy ones. The drinks are so good they deserve to be mention here.
Read moreIt’s pricey though. Two main dishes, 1 appetizer and two cocktails $89,00 (including tip).
I’ll come back for sure but not as often because of the price.
Pros: Great food, The cocktails are a must!, The Caribbean concept is fun
Cons: Small place, you might not get a table , Expensive $$$$

Pretty, pretty, pretty good - Edit
We’ve been long awaiting No Bones opening and I have it say, it did not disappoint. The Crab cake Benedict was delish. Hollandaise sauce was really good and the crab cakes were interesting and well seasoned. The tofu patty was very plain, but perhaps that’s intentional since all the other components are quite flavorful. The giant hash brown patty wasn’t as crispy/cooked as I would have liked and it was way over salted, but overall the dish was good.
Read moreThe Caesar salad was amazing! Really tasty dressing and some kind of delectable seasoning mix sprinkled on it. I would have liked something besides lettuce, tomato and red cabbage as far as veggies go, though and maybe a protein or crouton. Hard to beat Ground Control Caesar with chick peas and giant capers... Chicago Diner’s Caesar as a close second, but No Bones may now a contender for me, especially if they add something and maybe omit the tomato.
The cauliflower wings were good. Kinda seemed like they were sitting under a heat lamp for a bit, but still pretty crispy and definitely Spicy!
Clam chowder was something I was interested in because I’ve never had it & I like soups because I was born a 95 year old, but I was a little underwhelmed. The crispy thing that came with it was awesome, but the chowder itself was a little strange to me. Then again, I have nothing to compare it to. It was creamy, but had little chunks of veggies and what seemed to be mushrooms. Flavor wasn’t too impressive.
I had a hot buttered rum for the 1st time ever and hot [censored], it was to die for!
Someone who used to work at K17 & works at No Bones now, recognized us and said what’s up and told us that it’s an amazing place and that they don’t use any faux meats at all, they make everything w veggies.
Update: We’ve been here several more times, and I have to say, (as others have in their reviews) it is very hit or miss. They do seem to have a high turn over rate, never see the same employees twice there, so that may be a contributing factor to their inconsistency. The amaze balls are the one thing that seem consistently good.
The Bahn Mi is very disappointing, definitely would not recommend it. Dry with just tofu and a very scant amount of pickled veggies. The sandwich had no sauce or even veganaise. Maybe it was a mistake? But I won’t order it again. At this point, we’ve unfortunately had more things we didn’t like, than things we did. I hope they listen to feedback and get things dialed in to reach their potential.
Pros: Cool as hell themed women’s bathroom, They donate to an animal sanctuary
Cons: The music is super loud top 40 pop hip hop

Beautiful place - Edit
I’ve been to No Bones Beach Club 3 times, once in Seattle and the two other times here in Chicago. Each time I ordered different items off the menu. It’s usually a hit or miss.
Read moreThis time I took some guests so we ordered the maverick burger, crab cake sandwich, avocado tacos, fish n chips, amazeballs, and buffalo cauliflower.
Our favorites were the amazeballs and the crab cake sandwich. The cauliflower was good as well, but it tastes like every other buffalo cauliflower I’ve tried. The fish (from the fish n chips) didn’t have much flavor. The tacos were good, but the avocado was hidden under a pile of coleslaw. The maverick burger was tasty, but I’m not big on beyond meats. We had drinks, which were delicious.
The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff was friendly. I appreciate their give back and sustainability missions, and for that- along w/ amazeballs- I’d go back.

Good food with lots of options. The mac n cheese balls were incredible. Outside of that though, I don’t think I’d ever go back knowing Handlebar is just down the street.

Good but not top notch - Edit
I got the nachos! They were VERY good and a very big fish (even though it didn’t say it was a main dish) so I’m very happy about that! I forgot the drink I got but it was a poor excuse for a tiki drink😒I know good vegan food isn’t cheap but it was over $40 for nachos, one drink and a side of fries so a little too overpriced in my opinion. The location is smaller then I anticipated and is in a bad spot If your driving! Ill probably go back eventually but was thrown off by those two things.

I love the vibe of this place! It’s nice to see a vegan place go all out with a theme. The tropical aesthetic is so fun and the cocktails are awesome! I loved the meal I had (a bbq burger with pineapple!) and the fact that they rotate the menu.

Yum! - Edit
My non-veg (but one gluten free) siblings and I came here for a casual birthday dinner. When we walked in and took in the theme we knew we had picked a fun place! We split three great sized appetizers, drinks, and did some fun (but a bit expensive) shark themed shots. We devoured the buffalo cauliflower wings, Amazeballs, and the northwest nachos. None of us could decide what our favorite of the three apps was because they were all delicious. We had a blast here because of the fun theme, vibes, and flavorful food. I’d definitely recommend checking this place out for a fun, tasty and casual meal!

Loved No Bones Beach Club! - Edit
I tried No Bones Beach Club recently and can't wait to go back. There were so many items on the menu that looked great. My husband and I split the pineapple and soy curl lettuce wraps and the Buffalo Tempeh sando and had a couple drinks. The food was great, and the drinks were good too, especially the Banana Killer. Holy moly.

The hawaiin burger was the best burger I have ever had and I do not like pineapple, but they crushed it. Loved it enough to go back 3 days in a row.

Ok - Edit
Lighthearted, beachy, quirky ambiance - toy sharks on the bathroom wall and Jaws playing. Banh dot com was tasty. Huevos was ok, needed more chips. At $13.50 it was also a bit expensive. Bay fries needed less salt and more old bay. French press was a no go, Mai Tai ok.

Amazeballs - Edit
All my friends were raving about this place on Facebook so I just had to check it out. I happened to be close to this place and I made a trip with friend sue. Now I'm from the burbs and as I was turning down the street, they were packed and I saw a man without shoes and his head oddly shaved. I was not sure what to expect. I find a parking spot right away from my friend had to circle the block a few times. I walk in and the options are so good it took awhile to decide. As I'm looking at the menu and a table is trying to get my attention. It's some Facebook friends. So while I wait for my friend sue I sit down and ask what they had. They raved about it all. I picked two things. The fried mac and cheese balls and their jackfruit flautas. My friend ordered a big yummy spicy tofu salad. Then I saw more Facebook friends there. I want to go again just to see my facebook friends!

Ate here for lunch with my non vegan mom and sister. Everything was ahmazing. Had the nachos, sesame ginger cauliflower, avocado tacos, half caesar salad, and ceviche. we all loved our food. Best Nachos I’ve had in Chicago. Our drinks were also tasty Thai iced tea and don’t remember the name but it has pineapple and turmeric. Will definitely return to try other items

Saltiest food on the planet - Edit
I've eaten here like three times. Food quality was inconsistent. Each time, an item was over salted to the point of it being a salt bomb. Sometimes an item that wasn't the time before. The place is just bad.
