I picked this place based on its location next to the river. We arrived early in the evening and they set up an extra table for us right in front of the kitchen. We wondered why, as the dining area is pretty big and there were plenty of empty tables. But they very quickly filled up with groups celebrating the lantern festival with steaming hot pot and shots of local whisky. We were surprised to hear everyone toasting each other because it's clearly a Buddhist restaurant with a large shrine at the entrance. Oh well...
There's no English menu and no staff spoke English the day we came so we used Google Translate to order some pretty basic dishes from the menu - pineapple fried rice, lemongrass tofu, stir fried morning glory. The dishes were super cheap and not huge servings which is great if you want to try a number of things. Most dishes were tofu and mushroom based with no mock meat appearing on the menu.
The staff were friendly even though it was very busy and we enjoyed our simple meal with a beautiful view of the sunset on the river.
