THE SOUP IS NOT VEGAN - Edit
I really enjoyed the bibimbap (just request for it to be made vegan) and the lentil cakes. The lentil cakes are especially fantastic when you have it with the sauce they give you. HOWEVER, my Korean friend confirmed with the waitress that all the soup on the menu uses a meat-based stock. I saw a lot of reviews praising the potato soup so I just wanted to point out that none of the soups are vegan. Avoid those and you’ll have a great time!

Bad service - Edit
The first few times I came here I always asked the staff if the 온반 rice soup broth is made with meat or seafood to which they said no and told them I'm vegan. So afterwards I just ordered the soup without asking and I must have brought at least 20 people to this restaurant on multiple occasions. I normally ordered on the electronic pad but today there were menus on the table so I look at it and it said the broth was made from chicken. I was so shocked because the reason I kept coming back was because of the rice soup which they told me was not made with any meat in it. I asked the staff and this time she said it is made with chicken but also not so sure so she went to find the owner who took a while to come out and when she came she went to another table first to ask how their food was instead of to us who is having the issue. Then she confirmed that it has chicken as a matter of fact and that the staff didn't understand my question even though I clearly said it in Korean (I'm fluent in Korean). She didn't even consider the fact that her staff miscommunicated the info or show empathy toward my frustration. It's one thing that her staff didn't understand but her dismissive attitude like it was no big deal made me decide I would never go back there. I and my 3 friends just stood up and left. In Korea, unless it's clearly marked vegan, you can never trust if someone say something isn't made with animal products because to them even fish isn't considered an animal.

Bland food - Edit
I was really excited to try the food here since I read the reviews but I was really disappointed since the food was so bland. I ordered the soup and it has no taste to it. My friend (non vegetarian)ordered the cold noddles and didn’t like it either. We also ordered the potato dumplings because we thought it would just be potato dumplings since the menu didn’t have a description but I couldn’t eat it as it had meat in it. The only reason I’m giving it two stars is because the owner was a kind lady.

North Korean! - Edit
This was my first real Korean food experience after arriving in Seoul at the beginning of the pandemic. It was my first day out of quarantine and the company I work for provided a liaison to help get me situated. We came here for lunch and I’m pretty sure he was not expecting me to order every vegan thing on the menu!
Read moreIt was all sooo good! The lentil cakes and the pumpkin soup were probably my favorite but I truly loved it all. I remember them not having take out containers so they wrapped my leftovers in bags and foil. Next time I will for sure bring my own container, which is something I should probably be doing anyways. I plan to go back again soon, and I will most likely order every delicious vegan thing again!
UPDATE!! - checked out the new location yesterday and it was beautiful! And closer to my house! Food was just as delicious…got the lentil cakes and pumpkin soup again as well as a bibimbap. The people working were super nice as always. Brought a container for leftovers and didn’t even need it bc I ate everything lol. Love this place!

Interesting Place - Edit
I brought my Korean staff here because they were interested to try North Korean food. Yes, it is a bit different! The pancakes were good and the soup I ordered was a good meal for an affordable price. My staff spoke with the owner to be sure the things I ordered were normally made vegan.. It is always good to have a place that makes dishes that naturally conform to vegan diet even if they also have meat dishes.

Great food at a good price. - Edit
I didn’t have trouble finding the location like I was expecting. The North Korean restaurant had great service. The waitress continued to answer countless questions for myself (being vegan) and my brother (celiac). Everyone was pleased with the food that they chose. I loved the lentil cakes, and the rice cake soup was so comforting. There was one other noodle dish that was vegan, so I might be going back to try that and have more lentil cakes! Seriously, the lentil cakes are heavenly.

This is a North Korean restaurant, so you can enjoy vegetarian food and have a cultural experience too. The 능라 neungra in the name is a province in North Korea.

This place is hidden in a small alley, and you must walk an anonymous stairway to the first floor before you find it. just when you start to think: “this surely can’t be the place” - you’ve reached your destination ✅

This place doesn’t look like much, but the food and the smiling staff makes up for all of that. Very recommendable if you’re looking for traditional Korean cuisine.
Pros: Possible to leave out meat in the Bibimbap, Friendly staff, Lentil cakes ❤️
Cons: Hard to find, but that’s a part of the experience

Friendly staff, nice food - Edit
Had bibimbap without meat (staff doesn’t speak very much English, but they are very friendly) and the lentil cakes which was very delicious. The bibimbap is kinda cold just fyi if you’re looking for a steaming one.

"Exotic" North Korean dishes - Edit
This restaurant is an authentic North Korean restaurant offering other foods than the common Pyeongyang buckwheat noodles (평양냉면).
Read moreThere are surprisingly many veggie-friendly options on the menu. It will be an interesting visit even for non-veggie friends.
I have never seen rice cake soup (떡국) with pumpkin as the soup base. It tastes a little bit sweet and has chewy potato dumplings beside rice cakes floating in it.
Also, the mung bean pancakes (called "lentil cake" on the menu) taste different - they are very fluffy and yet crunchy.
The restaurant seems to be familiar with international customers and offers a multi-lingual menu.
Pros: excellent food, good value , international menu
