Great brunch

I brunched at Natural bar & kitchen (apparently they are rebranding) whilst visiting Birmingham. I wish that I had skipped the other vegan places I had tried the day before and come straight here. In addition to the buffet they also have a menu, with some great brunch options as well as and enticing lunch options. The buffet was being set up towards the end of our brunch and it smelled divine!

I got a special which was banoffee pancakes, which were really good except they were topped with coconut yoghurt which I don't particularly like. My husband got the full English (or whatever it was called) and every morsel that I tried was excellent, including the tofu scramble, mushroom, and hash brown.

The decor is also really cool and service was very friendly.

tasty vegan food

Great food serving both hot and cold food, priced by weight so a medium bowl cost £14. Raw cakes are £4.95 each. Disappointed the health food shop is now closed, so it is only a cafe/restaurant now.

Pros: food , selection

Unique dining experience in Birmingham

Birmingham city centres first 100% vegan restaurant. They operate a buffet style pay by weight system so you get to try a bit of everything. Everything is organic and delicious. I can't think of anywhere else with this variety and quality of food. If you like Michael Greger's daily dozen, you'll have no trouble ticking off every box here. Amazing selection of loose leaf teas too and friendly staff. the restaurant is connected to a shop so you can pick up all of your ethical and vegan products too whilst you are there. It is occasionally criticised on cost but you'd spend something similar in somewhere like Pho or Wagamamas.

Have it how you like it!

Fantastic assortment of hot and cold foods to choose from. Whilst it might seem pricey on the face of it; an average meal at a restaurant costs about £9-£14 these days. The difference here is if you want a little bit more cauliflower rather than sweet potato, go for it!

The flavours of all the dishes were sublime, and although I wanted more but needed to keep the cost down, I certainly was not left disappointed in my meal. I figured making the most of my plate and trying just the curries, I think a different area for bulky but cheaper veg and salads would be great!

Pros: Completely vegan, No nasty ingredients , Great range of foods

Cons: Cheaper range of side salads maybe?

Natural Healthy Foods

I finally got to try this place out after my birmingham friends taking me it was very good.

The buffet had a great range of different foods, hot and some raw. I tried a little of everything and my plate turned out to be £10 which i think was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food.

Everything was so tasty and impressive, when i went there was a selection of roasted cinnamon roots, various lentil and noodle dishes from around the world, raw pad thai, kimchi, cashew cheese Cauliflower, dhal, there were a nice selection of teas and the raw key lime pie we shared for desert was about £5 and very tasty.

I had an amazing meal here, the atmosphere and decor was nice, i highly recommend it.

Wonderful food!

We went to Natural Healthy Foods for the first time and had the three course Christmas set menu. The food was absolutely amazing and there was plenty of it! The matcha latte was also very tasty. We can’t wait to go back and try out the brunch or buffet :-)

Pros: Delicious food, Reasonable price, Excellent wait staff

Favourite place to eat in Birmingham

This is my favourite place to eat when I go to Birmingham!
Everything is vegan, organic, refined sugar free, fluoride free, and refined oil free.
They have raw and hot food.
The desserts are all raw and absolutely delicious.
Pricing is fair for the quality of food you're getting. If you like good food, check it out!
They even have a vegan shop Inside the restaurant. So after you've eaten you can do a weekly shop for healthy vegan goodies!
Owner and staff all super friendly.

Pros: Town centre , Raw and organic , Healthy

Great food and atmosphere + lovely people!

We popped in here before seeing a show at the Town Hall and what a find! Wonderful quality food. I always get a bit nervous about pre cooked/ self serve as it can so often be over cooked and dry but this was the complete opposite. Excellent ingredients and dishes that are clearly made with care. The Singapore noodles packed a punch, the cauliflower cheese was well flavoured and still had some crunch, oh and that onion bread... my goodness!

Friendly staff topped it off. A firm recommendation!

Pros: Quality ingredients, Great atmosphere, Quick eats

Nuts in EVERYTHING

Attended here having wanted to visit for some time. Very disappointed as they use nuts in everything. When you're allergic to almonds and hazlenuts that's not good. I questioned the food and was advised it wouldn't be wise to eat there as they use nuts in EVERYTHING. What a joke! Couldn't even eat there. So many people have nut allergies, which are potentially life threatening you'd think at least some dishes wouldn't have nuts in them.
Would have given one star, but the shop section stocked a good range of products.
Avoid if you have any type of nut allergy!

Great plate-dinner restaurant

Too bad it is not popular. The food is great and not too expensive. Grab a plate and weigh and pay at the counter. This type of dinner is great while you can taste any sort of food in small bits.

Lovely environment, food and service.

Down to earth eatery with lovely staff and wonderful food. Grab a plate, add whatever you want then weigh and pay. My meal plus a very strong coffee came to around £17 however I tried everything from Sri Lankan potatoes to Chilli Indian curry so it's hardly bad value.

Pros: Plenty of options Great coffee Lovely staff Down

Cons: Some might see it as pricey No set plates, though

Nice change

Went to this cafe for an early dinner on Saturday and was meet by very friendly staff. They have an amazing vegan buffet where you choose what you like to eat and you pay by weight.
Really like that they were serving up a bit of different food - a welcoming change to the never-ending falafels, hummus and pitta bread).
The onion bread (a must try!), "sushi rolls", cinnamon posted veg. and dal just fantastic. Not to mention the chocolate fudge and coffee - simply yummy.

Pros: Excellent food, Modern and stylish vibe

Cons: A bit pricey

What's in a name?

Natural Healthy Foods must be the least imaginative name ever grafted onto a vegan café. Which is a shame, because the food is great. Don't get me wrong; I'm heartily sick of eateries named for some gormless hobbit, or referencing some ethereal new age experience, but Natural Healthy Foods? Really? OK. That really is my only criticism.

A buy-by-weight serve yourself all vegan eatery, this is a lovely café/restaurant with shop attached. If money is no object, you can indulge yourself in the shop; if you're on a tighter budget, stick to the café.

The location of NHF is a strange choice, with large plate glass windows offering onto probably the least attractive aspect in Brum but it is just around the corner from Cherry Reds, and opposite the Mail Box. It's five minutes from the station. You have no excuse.

I genuinely hope this project succeeds. We need more choice in Birmingham and although the food can be a little pricey if your eyes are bigger than your belly, this is a truly good place to meet your loved ones, eat lovely food and relax.

Pros: Great food, Helpful staff

Cons: One toilet?

Delicious, central & healthy =)

Came with two friends, one took food away and 2 of us ate in. The staff were really helpful as it was our first time.
A good selection of hot foods and salads: curry, chilli, dahl, rices, sauteed veg, cauliflower cheese, greek salad, moroccan quinoa, potatoes, chickpea salad, noodles. We all agreed the food tasted delicious, if we lived in Birmingham we'd definitely eat there!
A plate of food came to £12, (price depends on weight) - considering the quality and flavour, and that its organic, this price was expected and reasonable.
Got key lime pie and 4 small pieces of fudge to take away at just under £5 each.
Highly recommended, would eat there again as a treat ^_^ it is so close to Birmingham New street as well.

Pros: loads of options, wonderful staff, delicious food

Vegan Paradise

What a great find. Buffet style restaurant with an additional store. All organic and vegan! You pick and choose what you would like to eat and the price gets established according to the weight - I had a lovely turmeric latte as well a a delicious berry/but cake. This is quite a find a highly recommended - they also give take away options with all the food and the store has a good selection of the latest vegan food articles .

Pros: Great location, Friendly and helpful staff, Very modern and hip atmosphere

Vegan natural healthy

On our second visit I opted for the smaller plate which gave me a lower cost meal with more focus on what I'd really love to eat as appose to a bit of everything.
Onion bread and asaparagus (Esther) or a name like it are my favourites. A few of the dishes are low to medium spice which is perfect for me and the range of hot or cold mains plus at least 2/3 dessert choices which are raw is great for a dining experience.
Friendly chatty staff, great shop option attached and clean and tidy.

Lovely variety of vegan food

I enjoyed my meal here very much. You pay by weight so that works well for small appetites and there is no waste.
Nice clean open cafe.
As it is sugar free there are very few desserts. I think they could increase revenue by encouraging customers who maybe want just a drink and a cookie or snack before or after lunch time.

Pros: Tasty vegan food, Close to New Street Station, Health food shop on site

Cons: No highchairs so no good for families, Few desserts/snacks, Staff not very knowledgable about options
