I like Native Food whereever I go.

I like to go to Native Foods in Southern California. I was happy and surprised that Native Foods has a location in DC. I selected the Moroccan bowl, because all the ingredients sounded great. In addition to that I ordered the seasoned fries. The Moroccan bowl was good but a little bland even with the sauce. I think a little of the seasoned fries seasoning would be great with the Moroccan bowl. I would come back again the next time I am in DC.

Very tasty but a bit pricey!

So I'm new to this area so I can't say for sure how pricey it is, compared to other locations like this. But I do have to say the food was amazing. I had a Korean BBQ Sub from the summer menu and my friend had a burger. The stuff was super friendly, greeted us at the door and explained us everything. Their summer lemonades were also delicious! We had blueberry lavender lemonade and watermelon fresca.
I'm sure I'll be coming back to this place!

Delicious food - Inexpensive

This cafe was a breath of fresh air during our last trip to Washington DC. Everything we had was delicious and flavorful. The menu is full of options for all tastes: healthy salads, indulgences (i.e. cupcakes!), satisfying sandwiches and nachos (perfect for kids and adults). Highly recommend this place!

Pros: Inexpensive, Expansive menu, Delicious food

Cons: Only a few locations in the country :(

Excellent vegan fast food

I liked native foods in D.C. very much! In comparison to NYC, there aren't really much vegan options in D.C. So I was happy to find a vegan restaurant at all. But I didn't expect it to be that good!

Pros: super tasty food , free refill, excellent homemade ice teas

Cons: Plastic utilities

Vegan Fast-food

Made a couple of trips to Native Foods while visiting DC. The food was good, we especially enjoyed the 'chicken' sandwich with the 'bacon' and avocado. We also tried the taco meat nachos and meatball sub. All the food was pretty good and seemed more like fast food. Also, all three of those meals were spicier than expected (in a good way).
I agree with a previous reviewer, their use of all disposable plastic plates was ridiculous!

Pros: Quick service , All vegan, Good variety

Cons: plastic disposable plates, fast food feel

Native Foods Penn Quarter

I am so glad Native Foods (NF) is FINALLY in DC, with more than one location to boot :) I first had NF in Chicago November 2012, and one of their employees told me then that they were coming to DC soon. About 2 years later the locations opened up! I was waiting for their mind-blowing Reuben, which tastes exactly how I remember animal-product laden Reuben's to taste like.

I've basically had all their menu items. They do vegan casual dining/junk food really well; if you haven't had vegan fried anything in a while, indulge here!! Items that are fried "chicken" related have a nice crunch. Their bowls are VERY substantial and come piled with veggies. The twister wraps and the club sandwich are good. Monthly meal specials are usually delicious. Their nachos are bomb, as are ALL their desserts. If you are a peanut butter fan, you absolutely must get their peanut butter parfait -- it's to die for and quite a large serving. Their chocolate cupcakes are also suuuuuper rich and fudgey, and not too big.

This NF is smaller than the one in Dupont Circle, but there is still plenty of room to sit (except maybe during the work-week lunch rush).

Pros: Great vegan fried chicken/junk food, Fresh veggies in salads and bowls, Their sauces are SO GOOD. Get extra on the side

Cons: A little expensive (easy to drop $20+ on lunch)

Delicious! Much needed in penn quarter!

Visiting and stopped by here. Got the nachos with taco sriram meat and Guac and it was enough for a meal for around 10 dollars! I can't wait to go back and try more.

Pros: Delicious, Quick , Cheap-ish

Cons: Presentation of food

Fantastic affordable quick & easy

Very appealing to all cross-sectors of people. Has a great range of healthy salads with super fresh veggies and healthy options, as well as some more indulgent/ satiating dishes like french fries, desserts, fried "chicken" sandwich, other meat-esque substitutes. The salads also have rich & creamy dressings. It's not really fancy or gourmet, just simple, quick & easy, accessible. And very tasty! And they have a good membership program so you can get rewards points.

Making My Life Easier!

Good vegan food for a reasonable price! I eat out quite a bit and am always looking for healthy, quick, and cheap food. This place definitely fits the bill. When I visited this Native Foods location recently I had the Thai meatball bowl, which was fun and filling, although next time I think I'll try something new - so many dishes to choose from on their all vegan menu. This location is also really convenient, directly to the right as you come out of the Archives metro station. And I agree with the previous reviewer - this area can be difficult for veggie food. Now there will be no more difficulties finding vegan food in Penn Quarter! Yay!

I would give this location five stars if it wasn't for their excessive use of plastic containers. I've been to other Native Foods locations where real dishes are used, so I'm not sure why this location is so wasteful. Plus, there's definitely a different feeling when you eat off a cheap plastic plate rather than a reusable ceramic one. Anyway, this is still a great choice, just wish they were more environmentally conscious!

Pros: Location, Reasonable Price

Cons: Cheap Disposable Plates and Glasses

amazing food at a great price

They have a great menu and each item is well thought out and contains great flavor. I have tried the Ruben, meatball sub, a bacon cheeseburger and one of every dessert. Each was unique and the seasoned Seitan used for the burger and the Ruben was out of this world amazing!
Thinned slices of vegan meat were a first for me. They have a great dessert menu with key lime pie and several other baked goods. The ice inc on this vegan cake is that it is very affordable. Two people can eat very well for under $30.

Pros: great food, dessert, location

Cons: counter ordering all day, noisy

Vegan in Penn Quarter

Spreading some more vegan love, Native Foods is taking the DC market by storm with the second addition to its planned trifecta. This location brings some verve to a desert of food choices. This part of downtown feels dull at best and unwelcoming to veg*ns most times. Native Foods in this part of town adds one more solid and reliable vegan dining choice with quality food, organic ingredients, consistent flavorings, a revolving seasonal menu and fair prices.

This cafe has more more more outdoor seating, which is great because it adjoins the circular Navy Memorial Park. It is literally steps away from the Metro, making it highly convenient if you are on the Yellow or Green line. There is also some bike parking around and car parking ain't too shabby.

I prefer the decor here and ambiance better than the northern location in DuPont. However, it had a shallower space so when you walk in it's the counter and a few tables. More seating if you look for it, but it feels smaller but cozier.

The menu is all vegan, so you can order anything if your concern is having 100% vegan food. They make some of their own proteins, which is cool. They have plenty of delicious choices like salads, veg and protein topped grains, sandwiches and burgers, and a few desserts. Nachos and Fries seem popular, but sweet potato fries are my preference. Plenty of tasty side choices, though small in portion, like roasted veggies, slaw, broccoli and the like. Healthful! Some decent dessert choices, like brownies and pumpkin pie, but not why you'd come here. The beverages are lovely though- I love their iced teas, unsweetened but flavorful my spiced.

I love the veggie focus, but I still feel they need some raw dishes and more gluten free choices. The veggies are also not as heavily highlighted as I would like, still lots of protein grain foci.

You can order in advance, so that's cool. Customer card for rewards? Why not- they are national!

Pros: All vegan, Saves the day in this area of town, Gluten free marked clearly

Cons: Needs raw!!
