Fancy place with a few vegan options - Edit
China Chilcano is a hip DC restaurant, big and vibrant. It offers some vegan options by asking for the menu with allergens and letting the server know. I had the vegan dumplings and tomato pasta as a main course. The dumplings were good and the pasta was ok but the portions are very small for the price paid. I won't recommend to come there especially to eat vegan but if you are dragged there, you will have enough to survive in a good atmosphere. The waiters are very helpful and the place is nice.

Not vegan friendly - Edit
It was a couple of years ago, but the vegan options were scant. They had an allergen menu, which was nice. I asked if they could leave the egg out of one of the dishes that said it could be made vegan. The waiter said yes, and then came back 1-2 minutes later to ask if I was allergic to egg or if "it was a food preference." Maybe my fault for saying I'm vegan rather than lying and saying I was allergic, but lo and behold, the dish came with egg in it. The mushrooms and rice I got were too salty, and the prices were high. This was just one experience, but nevertheless, I'd go to a different Jose Andres restaurant in the area. They have better options.

Fantastic - Edit
As the reviews say on google, I asked for the allergy menu and in it you can clearly see which items are vegan. I got Chifles Chiferos con Salsa and they are crisps with green sauce on the side which was delicious! I also got Aeropuerto (Chifa), that they make vegan by putting other kind of noodles in it. It was sublime, I loved it. Our server was knowledgeable and funny!
