Tasty

I had the tofu lok lak and it was very tasty and they had no issues accommodating to a vegan diet.

I also attended the cooking class that they run. Again, no issues with you making vegan food. The owner, Toot, was very nice and the class was fun.

However, the first part of the class involves going to a local market and I would warn veggies/vegans that this involves seeing a lot of animal carcasses, live fish out of water, distressed frogs etc. If this is likely to upset you then I’d ask to skip this part.

Fish sauce in vegetarian dishes, long wait

We ordered two dishes (amok and Tom yum soup) under the vegetarian section. The meal took very long to arrive and when it did, it clearly had fish sauce in it (very strong smell). We asked if it had fish sauce in it, they confirmed yes. They were apologetic and said they normally ask if people want fish sauce in it under the veggie section but on this occasion they didn’t. They were very happy to make it up again for us and were perfectly friendly but it did dampen the experience. Food ended up mediocre. Lesson learnt to always ask without fish sauce!

Pros: Veggie section

Cons: Put fish sauce in the vegetarian meals , Very long wait

Great cooking class, good food

We ate here several times. The food is good though a bit pricey for such simple food & the setting. We took a cooking class with them where we visited the local market and then cooked three dishes & a dessert. The class was fun, was adapted to vegan diet (another couple joined us and made vegan food too), with good explanations, demos and support.

Best Cooking experience and Khmer food while in Battambang

The cooking course for only 10 USD with Toot and Nary is amazing. We made a 4 course vegan menu and Toot know exactly which ingredients to substitute. We first went to the market, saw how fresh coconut milk is being produced, picked our vegetable and herbs and started the cooking back home in their restaurant kitchen. It was so much fun and the best Khmer food we had so far - of course homemade is always best.

Pros: All dishes can be vegan , Owner speaks English and French fluently , Cheap prices
