Excellent Ramen - Edit
Very good and satisfying ramen, large bowl comes for a fair price. It's a different twist on the usual vegan ramen (soy milk broth or Sixuan pepper broth with fried soymeat).

Worth it - Edit
I had some kind of mushroom bruger and it tasted great. A bit pricey, but compared to other prices you pay in Kyoto - worth it.

Perfect for lunch - Edit
This place is awesome for lunch (served until 15:00). The lunch set is massive, I always give a small donation to my partner because I can’t eat it all. After lunch there is a small menu before their dinner starts at 17:00. So far everything I’ve had here is good and have never had to wait or been told something was sold out(guessing I’m super lucky?) but I wouldn’t complain even if it was because it’s good and there are other options around if it doesn’t work out here innit!

Understand why it’s popular, but better options elsewhere - Edit
Look, I can see why people like this place. Good lighting, hip looking, solid food. But the lunch menu is really not impressive, and both times we went, there was a wait. Kyoto has a lot of great vegan options, so I would encourage everyone to try somewhere else, especially if you don’t care about the Instagrammability of your meal.

Good healthy food - Edit
My friends and I had the pickled vegetables and potato puree, fried tofu nuggets, tofu steak with a rich sauce, avocado burger with plant based patty, rice and miso avocado and spinach smoothie with granola. All the food was really yummy and healthy!

Nice food, cosy place - Edit
Conveniently located in the centre of the city, offers some nice vegan dishes, such as the tofu "lokomoko" burger, or the avocado-tofu burger, which were both delicious.
Read moreWe also tried the tiramisu parfait, which was nice and fluffy, and also quite big for Japanese standards.

Tasty food, nice atmosphere - Edit
I went there last year and was a bit disappointed. But I decided to give it another try and went back recently. I got a basic burger and a cake, I have to say that it was way tastier than I remembered. I'd totally recommend the place, they have so much sweets to choose from!

Vegan café - Edit
A modern, vegan café that also serves savoury dishes. Availability of meals depends what time of the day it is. Lunch is until 3pm, afterwards the choice of dishes is limited. Sadly many dishes were no longer on offer.

Dissapointed! - Edit
Showed up after grabbing dinner elsewhere to try their dessert. Tried to order a 1100 yen ice cream sundae to split with my partner but was turned away because they have a 1 item minimum per person rule.
Read moreThe restaurant was less than half full. When we told them that we only wanted the sundae to split, we were turned away. Dissapointing because we were planning on coming back the following day for lunch but instead opted to go to one of the many other vegan restaurants in Kyoto as a result.

Relaxed atmosphere and good food - Edit
Really nice vegan place with tasty food. I had a rice baked stew thing with broccoli, asparagus and some kind of vegan cheese. Really enjoyed it! Only con was that many things on the menu were marked “not available” so it was not so many dishes to choose between.

A vegan must eat! - Edit
Fantastic stop for families! They have a kids area with toys and books so the kids can play while you wait for food. It’s a great break for them while traveling and walking so much. Nice bathrooms, amazing sweets! English menu.

Not bad but not amazing - Edit
Went to this place based off of the great reviews but were a little bit disappointed. Tiny tiny portions for dinner and not cheap (most expensive place we've been so far in Japan) we had the tofu burgers and got 12 chips each which we felt was a bit stingy! Burger patty was too small for the bun so you're left with a lot of bread. Tasted fine but nothing special. Wouldn't recommend as I think there are much better places.

Fine but a let down - Edit
This place was kind of a let down. We had high expectations due to the reviews, but weren’t impressed. The food was good but not phenomenal. The fact that they were out of the first 3 things we tried to order probably didn’t help. And it wasn’t even that late!

Fresh ingredients & delicious combos - Edit
I can highly recommend the lunch plate, which was 100% vegan and 100% delicious. They use fresh ingredients with a unique Japanese twist and you can pick the warm tofu part yourself. Great atmosphere and the dessert options are to die for.

Delicious - Edit
After seeing reviews for how busy it could be we went a little bit later than dinner rush and were able to get a seat straight away. The taco bowl was yum and had lots of comfort food options. We got the cheesecake too which was very good. Priced relatively well and the atmosphere was warm and calming.

Not worth the long wait - Edit
Every time I’ve been to Mumokuteki I’ve had to wait over 30minutes, often over an hour, to be seated even when there were plenty of seats available. This wouldn’t be a problem if they informed you the wait length, but their airwait doesn’t work and we were left uninformed for almost 90 minutes. When we asked we were just told to wait a little longer. Having eaten here before I can say the food isn’t bad, but it certainly isn’t worth waiting over an hour with poor customer service. Another bad point is that they use fish stock in many dishes. There are better restaurants in Kyoto.

Had a nice meal although was expecting more from the reviews. Had the katsu dinner set. Seemed to be almost a deconstructed Katsu Curry. All the individual elements tasted great.
