Amazing - Edit
Loved trying all the little dishes with interesting flavours, especially the miso soup knowing it didn't have fish dashi. Press the button to order or sit there confused like I did 🙃

Delicious, fresh vegan food - Edit
Loved this place, it was my first meal when I arrived in Kyoto and what an amazing start. They offer different sets which includes a main (tofu hamburger steak, miso cutlet) and sides like salads, pickled veggies and a bit of fruit. Had a fabulous experience as a solo diner as well!

The best meal I had in Japan - Edit
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant while in Japan, and I have to say, it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was just as impressive.
Read moreFrom the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming staff. The decor was tasteful and sophisticated, and the overall ambiance was relaxed and enjoyable. It was the perfect setting for a wonderful meal.
The food was truly exceptional, and I found myself savoring every bite. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were both bold and delicate at the same time. I especially enjoyed the seafood dishes, which were prepared to perfection.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience while in Japan. The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding, and it's definitely worth a visit. It was, without a doubt, my favorite meal during my time in Japan, and I can't wait to go back again.

Great Vibes and food - Edit
I really enjoyed coming here, we grabbed a number when we arrived and the wait was ~10mins which was enough time to explore the store down stairs (store not 100% vegan). I loved the vibe upstairs, and the staff were friendly. I had the set with everything, overall I really liked it all but the pork cutlet was the best. I loved almost everything on the palate but didn't like some of the side dishes but honestly that didn't detract from the meal. I would definitely recommend if you are coming to Kyoto. The desserts looked amazing but unfortunately I was too full by the end of main.

cute, popular, pricy - Edit
Very cute place with a menu that's super fun to look at if you're vegan and not used to options! I enjoyed my meal—the konyakku "karaage" and the salad that came with it were delicious—but I've had better veg lunches for better prices in Kyoto. Definitely a good option if you're in the teramachi area, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it!

I’d been searching for vegan katsu in Kyoto and finally we found it at Mumokuteki! Everything we ordered was so good. All the little fried things were fantastic. We got parfaits for dessert and they were so delicious. Loved everything

I followed the waiter’s suggestion and tried the karaage set menu (fried “chicken” menu). The menu was quite complete, but I preferred if the food was a little bit salty.

Nice but not amazing - Edit
Location, staff and decor were all amazing, as was presentation, but wouldn't rave about the flavours of the set meals - would not return for any savoury food. Didn't try any desserts though, which did look tasty so would return to try.

This may be my favourite meal I had in Tokyo. Dessert was delicious. The soy milk ice cream is also super low calorie. So go on and treat yourself. it has a busy cafe vibe but very calm. #Veganuary

Out of the ordinary, and very tasty - Edit
I visited this stop while in Kyoto, after seeing all of the rave reviews. Certainly was not disappointed in the konjac-based meat alternatives, which were of a very high quality! It felt good to be trying something different, and my partner and I ordered the 'mumokuteki 3 types of specials set' which had was very varied and large in size.
Read moreIt came with all 3 of the different 'mock meats', each distinctive from one another, a small miso soup, rice, and side salads. Besides the mashed tofu salad we both enjoyed this meal a lot, and even had a soft serve soy ice cream afterwards. While it was on the pricier side, we did order the most expensive plate (go figure), and we were both full afterwards.
Highly recommend visiting if you are looking for food in Kyoto!
Pros: Lots of great options, Mock meat was different from most places, Felt fresh and high in quality
Cons: A little pricy
