It’s cool - Edit
I love that this place is open until midnight. Their vbeef patties are so thin, I felt compelled to ask for another to satiate me. And the top bun is so big it’s almost 50% burger, 50% top bun. It needs a bit of improvement imo. Would eat here if it was the only v option, other than that it’s ok

Best vegan burger spot, but too expensive - Edit
The burgers shakes sauces and fries/tots here are all great.
Read moreMy go to is the Monty’s single cheeseburger burger and it’s delicious. As a burger spot in LA it’s probably the best, with nomoo.
Only negative is it’s kind of insane how expensive it is. A small meal for 2 can easily hit $60…would be 5 star but I just find the price crazy. If the ambiance in the place was better too I could forgive it but it’s no nicer than a fatburger or something pretty low end.

Love the hardcore references - Edit
We traveled all the way from Brazil to try the Almighty Monty's. It has exceeded our expectations by far. Super tasty shakes, great burgers and the hardcore hints at the decor are a blast. We loved it and we're planning to go back again.

i got the single cheeseburger, animal fries, and oreo 1/2 shake and it was sooooo good. the best animal fries i’ve ever had (even better than in-n-out) and i used to work at in-n-out before going vegan so i know what i’m talking about lol. and i loved that they have a 1/2 shake option! the oreo shake was so good and it wasn’t too sweet or too much

Good vegan burgs - Edit
Montys are consistently great. They've changed their buns to a more brioche style, and it's definitely improved them alot. Their tots are to die for, and their house made sodas are fire. Shame they got rid of their vanilla soda😒

A recipe change subtracted a gluten-free item from the menu. I had a float. - Edit
I was intending to get an order of the chicken nuggets with the “chicken” texture supplied by Daring Foods as I was excited that Monty’s had added a gluten-free item as a main meal choice from when I had it several months ago for the first time. I was ordering online for a pickup and it seemed that the item was no longer gluten-free on their online menu, so I decided to not order it. There was a sign on the counter inside stating that the chicken tenders now contained gluten and Monty’s taketh away a gluten-free recipe.
Read moreThe gluten-free food items on the menu currently are: the Dogpile, fries, and tots. Sauces and a salad without croutons or chicken would be gluten-free.
There are more gluten-free float, drink, and shake options. did order a ginger beer float and it was a treat. The contrast of the zing of the ginger flavor and the creaminess of the Oatly vanilla ice cream was a good taste. The tastes really mixed together for a great effect when the cup was almost finished and the ice cream was melting and there was a little ginger beer flavor still mixed in.
For the decor, There is a giant framed photo on the wall with Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara having some Monty’s burgers with the Best Actor Oscar statuette sitting on the ground between them after Joaquin got it for Joker earlier in the night. I appreciate the overall diner aesthetic for the inside and the bright color scheme on the outside; the building front really stands out on Sunset making it hard to miss if you are trying to find the place.

Pros: Having a dog as the restaurant’s mascot. , A merch rack with clothing items to browse., Travis Barker collab’ing on the matcha shake.
Cons: No gluten-free bun option., Adding gluten to the chicken nugget recipe., The music is loud and could be a pro or con.

Burgers & Fries - Edit
I hate to say it but I wasn’t blown away by Monty’s! I had heard so much about them and I was so excited to try while visiting LA. I was sort of underwhelmed. Everything was fine but I wasn’t blown away by any means. Also the burger was quite pricey. $15 for a double burger with no fries is a lot in my opinion. The meal was fine but I wouldn’t feel the need to return.

One of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had. Fried chikin sandwich was also great. Fries and tots were slightly above average. Excellent sauces/aioli for dipping. I would totally go back, but not at night. Surrounding area is a bit dodgy.

Best vegan chicken sandwich! - Edit
The food was absolutely delicious and I loved the punk diner vibe (great art and decor). I had the chicken sandwich which was super thick and crispy, probably the best I’ve ever had. My cousin (who is not vegan) had the double burger and LOVED it. We tried the sriracha aioli and house sauces and both were super yummy! Fries were ok, but tater tots were delish. You can go 50/50 on fries and tater tots, but next time I would go all in on the tots. Also, don’t bother with the cookies. They’re small and not that great. I would 100% go back and highly recommend!

But loud music! We liked our fries and the ranch and house dipping sauces. We were hoping for homemade burgers but the chicken was solid! Sit in the back in the booths for more quiet!

Decadence for all! My partner was ecstatic to sink his teeth into some karma-free comfort food and I satisfied my sweet tooth with a coffee shake and my salty and spicy teeth with fries and habanero sauce- which I want to smother my whole life in 🤤
Read moreThe decor is snappy and very 'grammable if you're into that sort of thing. There's just something so fun about sipping on a shake across from your sweetie in a red vinyl booth. Just wish the music fit the punkabilly aesthetic
