The kitsune curry udon is amazing! - Edit
If I could give this 5 stars I would! I got the kitsune curry udon and it was absolutely amazing! It was very quiet when we visited (a good break from the business of Kyoto) and has a cozy atmosphere.

Good Vegeterian Curry Udon - Edit
We had the pleasure of ordering the vegetarian curry udon. The dish is not very spicy but it’s full of flavor. They have tableside chili powder to increase your spice level. We double checked none of the chili powder has fish by products. A must if you’re in the area. Check hours and times before going.
Read moreYou have the option of choosing your flavor levels. Regular, medium, strong. They are referring I’ll think you want the broth. Regular is light thickness versus strong is a heavy thick broth. The picture shows a thick broth however I would have preferred the regular broth.

Amazing vegan ramen! - Edit
1 vegan option but it was fantastic! Last orders for lunch are 14.30, I didn't realised and turned up at 14.29 and they served me which was lovely! They have a full vegetarian menu as well, but the vegan ramen was amazing! Absolutely full of lovely veggies and shed loads of tofu 🤩 10/10 would recommend!

Glorious! It won't disappoint. - Edit
I ate here in 2018, and still remembered in 2024 how much I enjoyed my lunch at Miminou. Separate vegan menu (the menu bills itself as vegetarian, but everything is plant-based with no animal products used). I splurge this time on their top-tier udon curry with vegetables and soya rolls, but everything is delicious on this menu. Going back tomorrow! It won't disappoint.

Tasty Curry Udon - Edit
We were really keen to get some curry udon while we were in Japan, and this place did not disappoint! There's a vegetarian page in the menu which clearly states that all vegetarian options are vegan, so there are a few things to choose from.
Read moreMy partner and I both tried the vegetarian curry udon topped with soy nuggets and tempura. It was delicious! The udon noodles were thick and slippery. The broth was really well flavoured, with that classic curry seasoning giving a nice gentle heat. It was also very thick in places, which I loved. The soy nuggets were very good indeed - the coating was crispy and even retained some bite while sitting in the broth, and the meaty texture was good. The tempura was nice, but it was basically one giant tempura fritter with multiple vegetables in it, and I lack the skills to easily eat that when it's sitting on a hot broth. As it got soggier from the broth, it disintegrated into it. So if you want to enjoy the batter, tackle it as soon as possible!
Service was great. Downstairs was quite small, I think with seating only at a bar. We were very satisfied, I definitely recommend it.

Amazing vegan meat, okay curry - Edit
The vegan meat was fantastic. Not sure if it was seitan or soy-based, but it was among the best I've had. The curry had a slightly weird texture, but it was very good after adding the spice mixes. There is also a good assortment of veggies in many of the curries.

Right next to Yasaka Temple. They have an english menu.m, so that was helpful. If you are a vegetarian there are a lot of options.

Delicious vegan curry! - Edit
Few different vegan options clearly labeled which was cool. I got the curry with rice, vegetables and extra eggplant - veggies were all super delicious! Option for soy chicken pieces too. Small counter style Japanese restaurant (maybe seats 8?).

Delicious 😋 - Edit
Cosy atmosphere with relaxing music, friendly staff and I was happy to find 6 vegetarian options plus a vegan seasonal one. My curry udon dish was delicious, real comfortfood. Reading the other reviews we were lucky that we could enter directly upon arrival.
Read moreOnly downside is the price. Compared to other Japanese dishes these were quite expensive.

When you can catch it open, it's great - Edit
We tried multiple times to eat hear but it was never open, then we hit it just right and got a seat at a place that does not have much seating, it's classic counter style Japanese small establishment. I'd say this one was a touch more updated in atmosphere than some others I've been in but, who cares, it's about the food.
Read moreVeg menu was very helpful, had a handful of options (I forget how many but a few), food was really flavorful and a great portion size. Walked out totally full and happy.

Delicious vegan/vegetarian Reman - Edit
I researched this place before going to Kyoto. It was located same row as Yasaka shrine but somehow took me 15 mins to locate it. Anyways, it was worth finding. We had delicious bowls of reman and chilled high-ball. Overall fantastic place to try Japanese Ramen 🍜

Lecker, aber nicht außergewöhnlich - Edit
Hatte das Udon Curry Kitsune (fried Tofu), es war lecker aber nichts außergewöhnliches. Und mit 1550 Yen für ein einfaches Gericht eher teuer.

Huge portion and very tasty - Edit
Had a delicious kare udon here, it was a huge portion so it was almost difficult to finish. Staff spoke perfect English. As with many restaurants in this area, there may be queues sometimes. Only con I can think of is the pricing; vegan options are ~ ¥1000 more expensive than the meat options. I would return though.

Really lovely although sold out of a lot of dishes - Edit
Loved that there was a vegetarian menu (that said everything was good for vegans). A lot of things were sold out but the dish I ended up getting was superb. I'd never had curry upon before so it was great to try! Leading up to the meal you were given a bib which added to the fun as well.

Delicious vegetarian food - Edit
Very delicious vegetarian food, even the dashi is made without a fish base. They offer a vegetarian menu card, all menu cards are available in Japanese and English. Friendly staff, maybe a little small, but clean and cozy restaurant.
