I have now stayed here eight times over the past nine years. An absolute vegan jewel. Peace, coastal paths and Cornwall right on your door step. Vanessa is an excellent host, and the food is fantastic. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely peaceful stay at Michael house, Vanessa is a superb host & fabulous cook. Perfect for visiting Tintagel castle & trebarwith strand beach
SOOOOO happy we found this affordable gem and were able to visit! Hosts are beyond kind and accommodating. The food was ALL delicious and the room was lovely. Perfect vegan spot to stay at while visiting Tintagel and nearby areas.
The host is very welcoming and friendly, there are also animals around the house which is a bonus! The food is lovely and the room is spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be returning.
Visited for a 4 night stay as part of my other half’s birthday celebrations. Lovely late Victorian/early Edwardian villa with nice big rooms and views down to the sea over Trebarwith Strand. Surrounded by lovely walks towards and along the coast and well placed for the beach and Tintagel.
Vanessa is a wonderful host, ably assisted by Simon and various furry friends of whom Pickle and Tippy provided feline company day and night. Fabulous breakfasts and super evening meals cooked to order and served in a lovely dining room. Vanessa is great fun and happy to chat about her home, food and furry friends and Simon joins in when not busy with his business. A calm, relaxing, friendly, comfortable and fun vegan guest house in a lovely quiet little village but with easy access to the local sights and sites.
Thanks for a lovely stay and big hugs to Pickle and Tippy and the other furry friends.
We had a fabulous long weekend with Vanessa and Simon and their lovely furry family.
Breakfasts especially the daily fresh baked loaf were absolutely delicious.
Evening meals were well worth the money and there was so much choice of lovely hearty meals.
The view was just amazing and it is situated perfectly to be able to explore the beautiful surrounding area.
We had a lovely time and very much hope to return soon.

Fantastic little haven for vegans, or anyone that likes beautiful scenery and needs a bit of peace and quiet. I could even see the sea from my bedroom window! Vanessa is a brilliant host, and makes delicious meals. I travelled alone and felt at ease as soon as I arrived. Would love to come back again :)
This was my 5th visit to Michael House. It won't be my last, all being well!
Michael House really is a little piece of paradise for visiting vegans. There is everything you need, from a warm welcome, comfortable rooms with cruelty free toiletries and a tea tray (plus fresh plant milk easily available for that post-walk cuppa), the beautiful seaside just a a stone's throw away, and last but by no means least - the FOOD! It would be worth staying, for the food alone (but I recommend you check out the beach whilst you're there...😉). From the start of the day until bedtime, Vanessa can cater for your every meal if required. The full Michael is enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites at breakfast, and includes freshly baked bread to graze on whilst you wait. Evening meals can be 2 or 3 courses depending on your appetite, and my recent stay included some divine offerings including a velvet-smooth tomato soup which I'll never be able to replicate at home, a delicious vegetable satay, a nourishing Buddha Bowl and the legendary strawberry shortcake. All highly recommended! If you need a packed lunch, Vanessa can also arrange that for you - we had home made hummus, home made bread, fresh veggies and chocolate dessert. We ate it sitting on a hilltop overlooking Padstow Estuary and not a scrap was left!
Vanessa has gorgeous pet dogs and cats, Berri and Velvet (dogs) will give you a warm and furry welcome if you are a dog lover.
What are you waiting for? If you enjoy being pampered by lovely hosts in a stunning part of Cornwall, get yourself booked in now!
I have stayed at Michael House so often I can't count the times. It offers a warm welcome, beautiful rooms and fabulous views. Vanessa's vegan breakfast keeps me fuelled all day. And there is the promise of vegan dinner if requested.
Very nice building, rooms are lovely with a fantastic view. Breakfast in the morning is OMG a dream! Even my fussy guest left so happy. Can't wait to be back.
We had a great stay here; it was a very comfortable and relaxing place to be and Vanessa, a lovely host, cooks up a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit salad, homemade muesli, fresh warm bread and then a full English including scrambled tofu, sausages, tomatoes, rosti, beans and mushrooms.
We had dinner here too a couple of times and that was just as tasty. You can choose 2 or 3 courses for all who are eating out of a long list of options. Or if you can't decide, then ask for a surprise, it's bound to be yummy.
Michael House is a beautiful Vegan B&B tucked away moments away from King Arthur's hitorical town of Tintagel. The views from the bedrooms and dining that look out over steep cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking, the rooms are lovely, so comfy and very spacious. The food is possibly the best food you can eat anywhere in the whole country. Michael House is an absolute delight and a must visit for a holiday in Cornwall. ❤️
We were welcomed into the guest house by Vanessa (the owner). We were immediately struck by the cleanliness of the guest house.
The two bedrooms were both en suite. The front bedroom had a view out to the sea which was very nice. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped with cleaning materials and towels. The bath was deep and big enough to stretch out and relax in!
For an evening meal (book in advance). We chose a somewhat traditional French Onion Soup followed by Shepherds Pie and vegetables. Everything was vegan (of course) and cooked perfectly. There was a selection of wine, beer and cider. In the morning we had a superb breakfast, there was plenty of fruit, muesli, seeds which we followed by the "Full Michael" - the vegan equivalent of a "Full English" as well as tea, coffee and fresh baked bread.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Puddings Galore evening which was put on as part of the Vegan Festival of Britain. Very friendly and welcoming, will definitely go back for a longer visit.
We stayed at Michael House for 3 nights and received a very warm welcome from Vanessa and Simon - and later from their dogs and cats too! Convenient location for visiting Tintagel or walking the SW Coast Path - they have maps you can borrow. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a large private bathroom and great views over fields towards Trebarwith Strand and the sea. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, cereals, soya yoghurt, home made bread, fruit juice, choice of hot drinks and "The Full Michael" - a cooked vegan breakfast consisting of sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomato, scrambled tofu and rosti. The evening meals were outstanding in taste and presentation and would not look out of a place in a top restaurant. Sometimes we chose what we wanted and sometimes we opted for a surprise. Vanessa was very helpful and couldn't have been a better host.
Update May 2017 - another lovely break at Michael House. Dogs now accepted. Food is now all vegan. All three courses delicious. Unlike me, Vanessa has perfected vegan meringues. Lemon cheesecake and chocolate tart were also outstanding.
We stayed in the Michael House for one night (we actually found it on here on Happy Cow!) and we had not only breakfast, but also dinner there. Our room was very nice, it had a nice view, and the food was even better. It was so good to finally be able to eat without questioning if there might be anything in it which we don't want to eat. We had the mixed curries for dinner and the Michael House mess for dessert. We can definitely recommend the Michael House.
Michael House is located in Tintagel with excellent views. It is cosy, clean and very inviting. We had a wonderful vegan dinner and dessert (that we selected from a menu emailed to us before our trip). The next morning we had a Full English Vegan breakfast that our 12 year old thought was the best morning meal we had on our journey. Vanessa was a wonderful hostess and we pre arranged a picnic mezze to take to Tintagel castle with us the next day. Wonderful atmosphere - we will definitely return if we are in Tintagel again in the future!

Great place to stay or eat, in a lovely location - Edit
We've just stayed a night at Michael House, and it's great for vegans. All the choices for evening meail are vegan, and a vegan breakfast just means not asking for an egg - we really enjoyed both meals.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, and with advance notice can also provide just an evening meal for those not staying with them. They are licensed, and with a choice of vegan wines and beers what more could you want!
The house and our room were comfortable and well looked-after, with good taste obvious in the decoration, furnishings, and art works. The ethical approach is consistent, with vegan soaps and toiletries also provided.
The location is also wonderful, in a small village in North Cornwall. Trebarwith Strand is a pleasant and easy 15 minutes walk away - a lovely beach which is quite sizeable at low tide and with stunning cliffs to each side.
We recommend it for a stay or for a meal, whether or not you are vegan.
vanessa is an excellent vegetarian/vegan cook, she and simon were welcoming and helpful about where to go and what to see, the location was perfect, the room was wonderful with a grewat view, and the lounge homey. we're sorry we hadn't reserved for longer! cynthia and ilan, jerusalem
Delicious food and very friendly atmosphere - Edit
We spent at Michael's house Easter weekend and it was amazing. Both Vanessa and Simon are very friendly and they are excellent cooks. They make fresh bread every morning and mousli is fresh too. I've never eaten better one.
Vanessa can adjust any recipe to vegan. She gave us even vegan eggs for Easter.
We had one evening meal. The meal was fantastic (thai carry) and the settings very romantic.
I would really recommend both staying at the guest house and the meals.
We just spent a long weekend at Michael House & loved it. The owners Vanessa & Simon are great hosts, the food is brilliant & the house itself is a relaxing & beautiful space. Prices are very reasonable too. Vegans are very well catered for & there is the option of a full cooked breakfast every morning if you would like one. You can choose from Linda McCartney sausage, Potato rosti, Beans, Tomato, Mushrooms, and for non-vegans fried halloumi & eggs any style you like, plus toast, cereals etc!
You would think after such a breakfast you wouldn't be hungry again that day but it's amazing what a long coastal walk does for the appetite! We enjoyed 2 evening meals at Michael House & enjoyed delights such as Coconut & Carrot soup, Seared Tofu with fresh local vegetables & Chocolate Torte!
Don't expect to go home slimmer than you left, but I can't recommend this place highly enough! (The wine is great too!)
