Wonderful surprise - Edit
7/10/24- Updating review because we have gone back several times to have the dumplings . OMG they are delicious! Try the lotus roots too, they are outstanding! Solid 4 stars, though the vegan buns are still not listed but available.

I'd like to give 3.5 stars, but have to round up due no choice. First the good: the Vegan orange Chickun Buns, Vegan Beff Buns where hearty, yummy, a lil' spicy, yet drippy and messy. Order 2 per person, plus an app for a proper meal. We also got the Wood Ear mushroom appetizer. Having never had them before, they were surprisingly delicious. Served cold with a lovely sauce they are not filling but balance out the spicey flavor of the buns. Secondly, the bad: These buns are not on the menu in the restaurant! What the? I only knew about them because I scouted the menu online before hand. Another bad was the parking. Just plan on parking a few blocks back, off 33rd. Take a nice stroll over & take that stress away. Overall it was worth it & worth going back to try the vegan dumplings & lotus roots.

Ask for the Bao Bun - Edit
Mason’s sells dumplings and dumpling accessories. According to the dumpliaison taking my order, everything on the menu labeled as ‘vegetarian’ is actually vegan, but is classified as the former due to any potential trace allergen concerns.
Read moreSteamed dumplings are best anointed with the shop’s sanctioned sauce ratio of 2 parts vinegar, 1 part soy sauce, and 1 part chili oil. Pretty darn good.
And all anacondas aside.. M’s got buns, hun. The orange soy bao bun — curiously absent from the onsite menu — is messy, delicious, and alone worth a stop.

The whole family enjoyed it - Edit
The entire family order a variety of items from the menu. Everyone liked what they got. The vegan beef and vegan pork bun were so good, even my husband enjoyed them. Everyone liked the vegan steamed buns. Sad we don't have this closer to home.

Fantastic addition to the central Boulder vegan food scene! - Edit
We've lived in Boulder a long time and don't often get excited about new restaurants, but Mason's Dumpling shop is a winner! Everything is fresh and flavorful. The vegan beef bun or rice bowl is a standout. I haven't had a taste sensation like that since we left San Francisco. The sweet and sour lotus roots are like nothing else we've had in Boulder. The atmosphere was busy on a Friday lunch but we did not have to wait for a table or to be served. Give Mason's Dumpling Shop a try! You won't be disappointed.
