Convenient option for Boulder Junction

We were staying at a hotel next door and saw the sign for Cauliwings and decided to give them a try. We got the cauliflower wings, mighty bowl and a small vegan Mac and cheese with tofu. The cauliflower wings were ok; they were a little shriveled compared to other wings I’ve had, but it didn’t seem to affect the flavor. The cashew dip was very good, and a great sub for blue cheese. I also enjoyed the mighty bowl and asked for more hot sauce—I highly recommend their hot sauce! My partner liked the Mac and cheese, but it seemed pretty meh to me. I don’t think I’ve ever had Mac and cheese I liked at a restaurant so YMMV. Overall we were pretty pleased to have a decent vegan option nearby and hope this place continues to offer a variety of vegan options.

Tasty but expensive

There were quite a few vegan options and hard to pick between the options. Got the might bowl. Had a nice kick but meal was light.

Delicious, but small portions

Really liked my meal here; staff were friendly, nice atmosphere. Would easily be 4 stars if they either scaled the prices back a bit or increased portion size. As it is now, you get well-prepared food that will probably leave you looking for another snack in an hour or two

Great vegan options

Almost half the menu is vegan with lots of creative options. Spin dip and asparagus were particularly good.

Food was just OK. portions were SAD. better places to spend your money

The portions were abysmal, food tasted OK.

The dosa was literally JUST the lentil wrap with 3 tiny dipping sauces. very sad. i ordered an appetizer and entree and left very hungry.

The server was nice but didn’t know how to satisfy us and refused to comp the very sad dosa that i did not want to eat or pay for. I think this restaurant could be amazing if they hired a consultant. I wish it success but based on the current status i see why it’s empty there…

Pros: vegan options , OK for a light snack, not a satisfying meal

Cons: expensive , left hungry , is it even organic for these prices ?

Wasn’t a food truck! Actual brick & mortar

In August 2021 we went to this location and fell in love! Healthy, incredibly well made food super close to our hotel. The chef was absolutely lovely and so helpful. Our picky son and non vegan were just as thrilled with our vegan dishes. We are there multiple times within a few days and had different dishes each time. We will not miss eating here again in the future!

Updated Review @ New Location

Oct 2021 - update to my review when they were at the Riverside creekside location. New location on ground level of Hyatt House hotel near Boulder Depot. I appreciate lots of clearly marked vegan options, I really do! I ordered a plate of the Adai Dosa and for $11 it was ridiculously small. Only one dosa the size of my hand with a small amount of chutneys. I would have been happier with 2 for that price. For one, this should have cost $6. I wish I took a picture. My husband got the Stuffed Pepper and though he enjoyed it, it was really small as well. Being an entree for $15 it should have had a side with it. At LEAST a salad or some greens to fill out the plate.
For these prices Zeal can do better.
******************
Zeal recently moved to the "Riverside" building at the corner of Arapahoe and Broadway in Boulder. Its a lovely setting, dining by Boulder Creek. They are not using the inside of the building, as I was told, this is only temporary until their permanent location is ready this fall. This is a little disappointing as I personally think they can make this location thrive. The location has turned over several times and has been left empty more times then open in my 9 years in Boulder.
But why should you go? The menu has an extensive variety of vegan meals including fresh healthy bowls you can build to include tofu or temphe with several of the sauces being vegan. They also have a falafel patty for their "veggie burger" and vegan cauliflower "wings."
Go check them out while they're in the best?only? creekside dining in Boulder!

Great for Mixed Crowds

Zeal gets major points for knowing what vegan is and addressing it on their menu.

For me, the food is hit or miss. Some of it is great and some of it is so-so. They have recently moved to a temporary outdoor location and I don't feel the menu is as great as it used to be but I suspect that will change.

A big plus is that my omni friends and husband enjoy it so it's great when everyone doesn't want to go to a veggie restaurant.

Pros: Vegan-Friendly, Current Outdoor Location is Pretty

Cons: Spotty Service, Food is Hit or Miss

Spectacular

Visited Bolder and decided to check out Zeal. I had their soup of the day which was sweet potato, we ordered their spicy cauliflower (be warned this is SPICY) and I ordered their Miso dish but asked for coconut curry instead. My partner ordered their falafel burger which they loved!

Pros: Very vegan friendly , Great prices, Very yummy

get the cheesecake

There are some vegan selections mixed in with the beef or bacon dishes, and they're pretty good. But I really flipped over the cashew/coconut:agave cheesecake - great texture!!

super veg/glutard friendly

I don't get here often enough but love the atmosphere and food. lots of veg and gluten free options and if you need a suggestion the servers are super helpful.

Cons: not super cheap but fresh so worth it

Good food

I have eaten here a few times and each time has been great. I had the vegetarian reuben sandwich and I inhaled it. I didn't even realize it was gluten free until after the fact. Their juices are expensive but so refreshing. The collard green wrap was also good but not as hearty as the reuben.

Pros: good food

Cons: can be expensive

Unfortunately Not Vegetarian/Vegan Friendly:(

I've been frequenting Zeal since it opened but will no longer patronage this restaurant because tonight I found tiny, I mean easy to miss, pieces of unidentifiable meat. Yuck! Once I started to look for them they were everywhere:( This leads me to believe it was on purpose because I simply ordered a rainbow curry bowl with TOFU. Spread the word! They either have a major cross-contamination issue or are intentionally disrespecting the dietary needs/habits of vegetarians/vegans.
