Fresh, organic ingredients and great drinks (4/5 Green Stars also). - Edit
One of the highlights of Más Masa, for me, was the lovely outdoor patio area with nice lighting, lots of wood, and blankets draped over the chairs to keep you cozy, should you need them. The drinks were also a highlight – the chicha morada (made in-house) and Marin kombucha (on tap) were both really good – especially the former, which is made from purple corn, pomegranate and pineapple. It has the complexity of a good cocktail.
Read moreOf the food eaten, the simple heirloom beans and feta were a standout for me. I forgot to check if they are vegetarian, so I’m now wondering if I only found them so delicious because they contained pork?! Hopefully not. I loved the flavor of the beans and also found them to be a great (and necessary) addition to the tacos and quesadillas because the main dishes were so light. The main dishes – maitake mushroom quesadilla and the red kuri squash tacos (a special) were both good but I felt that they both lacked seasoning. The ingredients were very fresh but they just didn’t shine for me – and at $11 and $12 for these dishes (compared to only $4 for the beans), I wish we had ordered more beans and skipped one of the mains. However, with tiny tweaks (even just salt) I think these main dishes would have tasted as good as they looked.
I’m also giving Más Masa 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons:
• I like their use of heirloom varieties of corn and beans – it’s important to support these for various reasons.
• They mention that they want to support local organic farms as well as diverse foods.
• A couple of the items on the menu have sources listed (e.g., Rosie organic chicken, Sky Hill Farms feta).
• It would be nice to see a bit more information on sourcing on the website or menu, considering that they make a point of wanting to support diverse food and local organic farms.
• The menu is a bit more geared towards omnivores but there are a few vegetarian and vegan options.
• They do a good job at avoiding commercial products (sodas, hot sauce, etc.) making them in-house instead.
• Their beer selection favors local brewers like Fort Point and Russian River.
• Same goes for wine, and it’s nice that they have organic Marin kombucha on tap.
• They served the chicha morada with a straw, but it was made of paper😄 I would say that they do a good job at avoiding waste (disposables, etc.).

Pretty good - Edit
I had the cauliflower tacos. This is the only vegan option on the menu other than a salad. The tacos were okay, they made their own blue corn tortillas which tasted so good and they gave me a fermented jalapeño salsa to put on top. It’s a bit pricey for two tacos but they were good.
