Fab for families - Edit
Lovely place for a family lunch, have a fab little children’s play area that kept my nearly 3 year old occupied. My food did seem to get forgotten about and we had to ask about it but I think it was probably because it was super busy so I’ll let them away with it. Whole family loved it

Hot stuff - Edit
Had a ranen bowl on a cold October day.
Read moreThe wee on head thebambinonburger an chips which she loved, which 9 years old wouldn't..
I had the ramen bowl and am still not 100% convinced. It was spicy and sour, the broccoli and pal choi a little overdone but overall I enjoyed and left feeling like I had had some of my five a day.
The better half had a Thai red sweet potato soup which she really enjoyed.
Overall a good find, nice staff, good size menu with a variety of options.
Pros: 100%, Staff

Lovely wee place, very cosy, great atmosphere and very good selection on the menu. Had the big mezze and the bangin burger and both were superb. Their cupcakes are amazing. Had wee vegan badges also for a £1 each. Gave our dog a bowl of water also

Best place for a cuppa! - Edit
Marwicks is an amazing place. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the kind staff. It is a calm and quite quiet place with great food and amazing teas (I would recommend the peaches and cream tea 😍😍). Only been a handful of times but will definitely go back!

Better location - Edit
I liked the previous place but it was very small and had no toilet. Moving from the central location up towards the university was a good choice.

Great new location and menu - Edit
Although I was a regular visitor to the previous Marwick's, the lack of a toilet always made it tricky with a toddler! That is no longer a problem as the new venue has two lovely gender neutral toilets.
Read moreThere is also a lovely play area, a kids menu and the whole place is much more family friendly and accessible. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
The steampunk coffee is amazing and the 'dolce' option where you can have a hot drink and a mini dessert is perfect for the afternoon slump. There are lots of other new things on the menu that I'm looking forward to trying.
Pros: Family friendly, Great coffee

OK - Edit
If another vegan cafe opens in Dundee this place could struggle. There isn't a great deal of choice, there is only comfortable seating for about 10 people, and the music can be a bit loud. (Why does there have to be pop music playing at all?) Don't buy anything to drink because there is no toilet. There is no self-closing device on the front door and even on a cold day, people come in and out leaving the door wide open.

Wot No Chips? - Edit
We visited Dundee to visit the new V&A museum so were on the lookout for somewhere with a good choice of vegan food and some research on Happy Cow put Marwick's right at the top of the list.
Read moreIt is a very pleasant little cafe that also sells a small range of eco / friendly products. Handily located in the city centre for the V&A, the Discovery, the main shopping area and train station.
I had the BBQ Tex Mex Pretzel Stack, which is BBQ flavoured jackfruit in a pretzel bun. This was delicious, the pretzel bun in particular made it really tasty and also stand out against anything similar I might have had elsewhere.
This is where my first gripe comes in - the main was delicious but not enough in itself to be a meal. I have no problem with that, but there was not any decent side option available. Chips/fries would be perfect to go with such an item, and many other things Marwick's offers but the only choices were two cabbage based choices - kimchi or saurkraut, a salad including stuffed vine leaves and houmous (again something I like) or tortilla chips with houmous as a dip. I like all of these items but did not feel any of them went with a hot sandwich.
My other gripe was about the organisation of the cafe. I didn't mind that it wasn't table service but instead you order at the counter. It was quite annoying that I couldn't pay at the time of ordering. This meant I had to queue up again when we had finished eating. Not a huge problem in itself, but the only member of staff behind the counter was also acting as barista so had to make hot drinks for two parties in front of me while I was waiting to pay. Thenthey did not have a note of what I had earlier ordered and had to explain again so she could tot it up.
Pros: Very tasty, Very convenient
Cons: Lack of decent sides to complement mains

It’s always Breakfast time... - Edit
14.00? Time for breakfast☺️. Great portion size when you’re really hungry. Even ‘skwerr’ aka lorne sausage (it’s a scottish thing...) along with the link sausages, tasty mushrooms, haggis and scrambled tofu. Two types of baked beans and hash browns as well! Great staff as well.

Superb range of vegan light meals to sit in or take away - Edit
If you're travelling through Dundee by train, get off and grab yourself a meal here before continuing on your journey: your taste buds will thank you. Marwick's have a fantastic range of really tasty vegan food, from breakfast burritos through shawarma kebabs to choose-your-own mezze plates. Cake/traybake options were limited when we visited, but also scrumptious.
