Abu Dhabi’s Worst Kept Secret

Given the location of this restaurant, if you happened upon it you might think that you had uncovered a hidden gem. However, given the fact that it was nearly full of punters before it even opened, you would soon see that this place has a cult following already, and let me tell you this upfront: it deserves it.
While there were no specifically vegan pizzas on the menu, the ones that are available can be adapted to remove the dairy and/or meat elements. They also have a range of focaccias that are suitable for vegans and they are all equally fantastic. As for the pizza, I would just say that this was easily the best that I’ve had in the UAE, but when I actually think about it, I can’t recall ever having better anywhere. The dough was absolutely phenomenal and all the toppings were fresh and plentiful. Of the two that I had, my clear favourite was the mushroom and kale with confit garlic.
Also bolstering the kudos of this establishment are the staff and the owner. The former were all polite and professional, even when faced with the chaos caused by Marmellata’s popularity. As for the former, a very personable man who seems to take genuine pleasure out of both speaking to the clientele and the joy that his food was bringing. I also got to speak with his son, who works alongside him, and he too was an absolute delight.
Obviously i would love to have given them five stars as I think it would be more that warranted. This is definitely a go-to destination, just make sure you get there early!

One of AD's hidden gems

Arrived at 6:30pm and they told us they ran out of pizza dough at 6:40 - bare in mind they opened at 5pm. Stayed there as they had a few focaccia varieties left. Lucky for us, managed to grab some at 7/7:10pm so be prepared to wait!

All their focaccias are vegan by default. As of now, vegan pizza options is marinara but they plan on adding other varieties soon.

Flavors and quality are top notch. Highly recommended - especially the onion focaccia.
