Disappointing

Closed down some years ago, I was excited to see it open again when I visited London a couple of days ago. However, that excitement faded when I realised they now serve meat. Not only this, but the salad selection was tiny in comparison to before. I didn't end up eating here as I was put off since I thought the company's entire ethos was centred around great veggie and vegan food, especially after seeing that the store in Barcelona is now fully vegan, and I've heard the Amsterdam locations possibly are now also? I wanted to only give one star, but the site doesn't allow it.

*I notice the London locations are not listed on the Maoz website so I believe this store has been reopened under the same name and is just cashing in on the already known Maoz name, and is NOT part of Maoz.

Pros: Central location, Does still serve vegan food, Open til very late

Cons: Now serves meat, Chance of cross contamination, Less salad options

It is now called Maoz Felafal & Schnitzel

I went there the other day, and they now sell meat. The felafel toppings and salads have decreased. Such a shame as the old Maoz was fantastic. I will not be returning.

My favorite Maoz!

I go back here everytime I'm in London. The best Maoz in Europe.
The food always tastes fresh and it's totally vegan proof! (Not all sauses and coleslaw)
Friendly and helpful personnel, looks clean always and I recommend this place to everyone.
And not expensive at all.

Pros: Fresh vegan food, Friendly personnel , Good location

Cons: Sometimes crowded

Really enjoyed my falafel salad box. I added eggplant (aubergine) for 50p. Love the chilli sauce!

The best salad in town

Despite the ever changing system of what's included in each deal, Maoz is my favourite place to eat in Soho.
The salads are amazing, the falafel and aubergine are delicious and even the drinks are tasty and different.
It's very much the same as Maoz in all the other cities I've visited but that's what I love about it; it's a safe vegan place in a scary dairy world!
It's also ideal end-of-the-night food when you've been out about in Soho, and a much better bet than a kebab.

Pros: Great selection of salads, Fast and friendly service , Central location

Cons: Sometimes a bit too crowded to eat in

Similar to other Maoz...

The menu here is almost the same as at the Maoz restaurants in Amsterdam; there is just a slightly smaller salad selection. The quality of the falafel is good and there are only two sauces which are not vegan - it~s a little annoying that these aren't marked but the staff are knowledgeable about which are which.

Fabulous

Some of the best Falafel I have had. Staff happy to share a joke with you. The food is really well priced especially as it is in the centre of London's Leicester Square. You grab your box with falafel balls and a piece of pita. You can then add humus, lettuce, cabbage, pickles, jalapenos, and other salads and dips. Eggplant, Feta, and baba ganoush is an extra 50p and you can upgrade the whole thing for a meal deal including chips(which were amazing) and fresh lemonade with mint for £2. Will definitely going back again and again.

Pros: Great Food, Well Priced, Friendly/Helpful Staff

Good for a quick lunch

Falafel in a box with a help yourself salad bar. Cant complain, really. Good number of falafels, interesting mix of salads. The lemonade with mint is very good.

Pros: Choice

Cons: A bit pricey

average, but good for a quick snack

Having a few hours in London, I decided to grab a quick snack, so I had the pita. It wasn't in any way special, in fact it was pretty average. The atmosphere of the place doesn't exactly invite to have a date there either, but I don't think that's the point of the place anyway ;)
A big plus was the staff who were very helpful when I asked about which vegan items. All in all it's okay for a quick bite to go, but that's about it.

Pros: helpful and friendly staff, you can fill the pitas an boxes yourself, fairly priced

Cons: food is average, atmosphere, not perfectly clean

Great falafel

The falafel have been great every time I've eaten here. The bread is lovely as well as the aubergine and the salad bar has lots of variety. Good stuff.

Not as good as I'd hoped

Since we've been to Maoz in Paris a few times before and gotten great food every time, we were hoping to get the same excellent food this time aswell. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good. It was rather tasteless, and the falafel were a bit hard. Also, there wasn't as much alternatives from the salad bar. But the seatingarea was spacious, and the restaurant is situated in a busy neighborhood a 5 min walk from Leicester Square.
The overall experience was OK, but not much more. There are better alternatives while visiting London!

Pros: Spacious, Centrally located, Inexpensive

Cons: Tasteless, Busy area

Tasteless

Having been to Maoz in Paris and New York this was a huge disappointment. The falafel, tabouli, and hummous were tasteless. The chips were passable, the lemonade was pretty good but overall this operation paled in comparison to the other shops I've visited. Why sweet pickles? It makes no sense. Also, the staff seemed pretty dour and the place was very cold on a cold winter day. If this is what passes for Middle Eastern food in London I'm in trouble.

Pros: decent lemonade

Cons: tastless food

MaoZ falafel kings chunkier chips than europe

Good falafel, always busy late night but a fun spot to people watch and get some good eats. Nice lime and mint cooler and good amount of seats. Also has a toilet which is a bonus in that area,

Like all other Maoz its delicious, cheap, fresh food. Chips are slightly chunkier i think, i prefer french fries :)

Pros: Good falafel, People watching, Good value

Cons: can get busy and a bit messy late night

Another satisfying Maoz location

You probably know Maoz, so I'll keep this short.

This is another satisfying Maoz location. Limited seating inside, mostly designed to eat quickly or take-away.

Mostly vegan, all-vegetarian, serving only falafel, salads and chips (french fries).

Pros: Inexpensive, All-vegetarian

Cons: Limited seating

Supreme deliciousness

Maoz is simply awesome, it's one of the main reasons I'll visit London from Ireland!

As if the falafel, hummus + salad bar done right wasn't enough, the Belgian style chips are some of the best around too.

Pros: delicious, cheap, central

Cons: none

good place for a cheap simple meal

This one is cleaner and more spacious than others I've been to (Netherlands, Paris, Belgium). The food comes in fairly large amount if you're keen on the healthy accompaniments a la salad bar, tastes good, and is priced sensibly. Place makes for a good lunch or dinner.

Pros: healthy food, fairly large portions

Tasty, filling and cheap - great stuff!

It can be really difficult to find a good falafel - look no further! For £5 you can get a very decent meal here - which isn't easy in London - the falafel is good and the self-serve salad bar (at no extra cost) even better. Shame they come in pitta rather than wraps, but that's a small quibble. I also really liked the chickpea-based decor on the counter! the place has a good atmosphere with lots of different kinds of people popping in to eat.

The write up about the only non-vegan items being cabbage and carrot salad and the garlic sauce isn't accurate though - there is a peculiar egg-based thing going on, and also some cheese. But of course these things are obvious and not really a problem.

Pros: Tasty + cheap, Salad bar, Good atmosphere

Cons: No wraps

Cons: Needs more seating

Falafel - what else do you need to know?

I don't have much to add to the previous reviews, but I enjoyed my meal here very much. I found that the regular falafel sandwich (at 3.90) was a good-sized filling meal by itself, so you might not have to get one of the meal deals unless you're really hungry (or really want some chips).

Compared to the "Amsterdam Falafel" shop in Washington DC, the salads and sauces weren't terribly exciting, but they weren't at all bad. I think that arranging the salads and falafels in the pitta is a bit of an art that I haven't quite mastered yet, so the first half of my sandwich was mostly salad and the second half was mostly falafel. For that reason I was glad that the falafels were a bit on the moist side, not dry and crumbly like you sometimes see.

Pros: cheap and filling, convenient location, pretty good food

Convenient , Cheap, Solid

Small space open late, for grabbing something to eat on the fly.
White lit, short, narrow bar and a couple of wooden tables if you need to eat in.

You can get falafel with the individual toppings/ salad you want or choose a meal deal which is basically falafel and salad from the salad bar or falafel with aubergine and hommus in pitta with chips and salad, one pound extra to add beverage.
The pitta is round pocket pitta and it is propped in a cardboard stand which is more conducive to eating and walking. Still to find a kebab shop in London that sells falafel rolls/ wraps the falafel in lavash/ mountain bread as done in the Gulf states, Germany, Australia, anywhere else? If this were to start, kebab sales would surely increase greatly as it increases ease of eating them whether stationery or walking/ portability - massive attraction for kebabs.
Falafel is the soft instead of crispy type. The tastiest falafel I've had was in Gulf/ Germany.
Hommus has a lot of tahini in it. Tastes almost like pure tahini, very peanutty.
Salad is self serve from a bar which includes olives, baby aubergines, coleslaw and couscous amongst other items. There are a range of sauces which you can add including coriander, green and red chilli.
Falafel in pitta was a decent, square meal.

Service is brisk and food comes fast.

Value is good for a filling bite/ meal in this area, at five pounds 90 pence for the number one meal deal - falafel in pitta, described above.

Pros: Quick& cheap, good range of sauces, pittabetterformobileeattoothLndnkebabs

Cons: hommus peanutty tasting, tastier, crispy falafel existent

Falafelicious

Maoz falafel is a chain across Europe which I've also eaten at a number of times in Amsterdam. I've never had a bad falafel, and for some reason they've tasted particularly good in Amsterdam ;)

You order a falafel with bread, either white or wholemeal, they put it in a pita pocket with some lettuce, and then you can put as much of the great salad ingredients they have you can pile on top. They also have a range of sauces, my tip is put some sauces on the falafel before the other ingredients.

The salads are always fresh, the falafel is cooked there in front of you (the number one sign of a decent falafel shop in my experience) and it's usually pretty quick as well.

Great place to take non veggies after a couple of pints in Soho, after all who doesn't like great falafel?

Pros: Fresh, Open Late, Cheap

Cons: Messier to eat than Just Falafs

Maoz Falafel

The number 2 was amazing. There was so much food I couldn't finsih the chips that came with the meal. It comes with a drink and fries/chips. I will definitely go back again before I go home.
Maoz is located in the Soho area of London similair to Soho/Villiage in NYC. It gets very busy here, therefore; the staff are quick and ready to serve.

Pros: good value, excellent food, good salad bar
