Peaceful setting and a few options - Edit
I loved visiting this spot, mostly for the amazing setting and vibe. The cafe is cute with a lot of setting both inside and out. There are not a lot of options. Sadly the soup was not a fit for me the day I visited so I had the hummus cucumber sandwich which was enjoyable though nothing fancy. It came with crisps. The menu said it came with salad as well which I did not receive until I asked. The leaves were actually going off. Maybe one vegan dessert option which wasn't appealing to me.

Really pleasant venue inside and out. Friendly staff and volunteers and a great place for a stroll in the grounds/woods and along the beach.

Limited menu - Edit
A very quick visit to Manjushri yesterday. Firstly, let me talk about the setting, it’s in the grounds of a large stately home turned Buddhist centre, beautiful gardens and woodland with plenty to see. The cafe is a cute space with indoor and outdoor undercover seating. The menu is very limited to soup, sandwiches and cakes. I only had a coffee. I would return for the space but the food was a bit too limiting for me.

Coffee, cakes and light lunches - Edit
This is a light airy lunch cafe run by volunteers in the welcoming and dog friendly Buddhist centre. Free parking outside and you can visit the beautiful temple. The doors open onto a pleasant lawn with plenty of tables. The coffee is excellent and the cakes are to die for with vegan options. They also do light lunches. Open normally 11am to 5pm but occasionally closed for Buddhist festivals, listed on the Manjushri website.

Unique experience - Edit
Great variety of plant based milk including oat, rice, soy and almond. The accommodation is warm and cozy and I love the daily, free 15min meditations and beautiful cafe and shop. Tibetan Buddhism has Indian roots and I find it fascinatingly similar to Hinduism in ways and also quite gaudy.
Read moreFood is good, but not what I expected in terms of temple food. Lots of dairy and eggs, but there are vegan options, not so many though. The food is delicious, but of course -1⭐️ for animal cruelty products (not fully vegan).

Too bad about the staff and the non vegan options 😕 It does seem especially silly to have dairy options next to the delicious non dairy ones.

Definitely so. I heard others express the same. It's not the style of Buddhism I'm used to, but at least they have a no meat on premises policy. Vegan options also have to be preordered so sadly if guests haven't preordered a vegan meal, they don't even get to try the food or switch half way through their stay. I'm staying 6 weeks for example and many are here longer, so that would be plenty of time for people to discover delicious, cruelty free food and opt for more of those.

Fantastic Place - Edit
Walked to Manjushri Priory for coffee and cake on a gorgeous October day so sat out in the gardens to the front of the building. Had a fantastic spiced apple cake, it was delicious, so light and delicious. Worth a visit as they had several vegan options.

Lovely food served by happy staff. Always vegan cake available and a good selection of drinks. Seating in light spacious cafe and a second room with comfy sofas. Lots of outdoor seating, also beautiful walks through woods to beach and by the lake.
