Special place but not the best food - Edit
Very friendly staff and a cool interior. We took a hummus plate that wasn’t that interesting. Some plain vegetables and not that much taste served with an ok hummus.

The coziest place in the downtown - Edit
I love the cute gallery, with pillows, you can sit on, it's like you're on your own living room. Wide range of craft beers, tasty wine, yummy and healthy vegan and vegetarian food is also a plus. The staff is also very nice.

Cosy place but not a lot of options - Edit
We went to Macska to have some vegan food but we were a little bit disappointed. Besides the lack of choices, the food options weren't the best and the bread served was like a day or two old (even the pita bread - we could've had bad luck that day). Rather than that the service was nice and the place is very cosy. They're a dog friendly place too!

Great food, fun decor - Edit
Staff was super friendly! Very helpful explaining the dishes and making recommendations for vegan specific (menu is all vegetarian). The food was wonderful as were the drinks. Order at the bar. We had ratatouille and the vegetarian lasagne. Both came with side salad and both plates were completely empty by the time we finished. Can't wait to go back! I also loved all the decor and the art. Cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

Perfect hideaway - Edit
A charming small place near Blaha Lujza. The interior is absolutely adorable with its cat decoration and especially the second floor is worth going to. We took a pita plate and lecho which were both tasty, especially the latter. Service was excellent and they spoke really good English. All in all really enjoyable experience!

They have great local beer on tap, very nice vines. The food is delicious and filling, goes great with drinks. They also have wonderful local syrups if you are not a fan of alcohol.

phenomenal beer food and friendly people - Edit
Nothing but great things to say. Super friendly, English speaking staff, serving unique local ales and phenomenal vegan/veggie food. They were very veg-aware and communicative about each dish -- they do offer several plates with or without cheese and they made a point to ask each time. The atmosphere and layout of the space is also very unique -- highly recommend the "galley" upstairs area. Also super reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely Ambiance, Great Food - Edit
Sweet, smallish place with a loft. We had delicious bean soup, lentil dahl, fresh berry juice and gluten free beer. The menu is limited, so be aware of that; it changes as fresh ingredients become available. They speak English and are very accommodating. It was a treat!

Best local craft beer + vegan dishes - Edit
Simply no other place like this in Budapest. Once we had no heating at home for days and we spent all the evening hours here - that's how cosy it feels in this vegan pub. Try the craft ales and IPAs from the tap! They don't always have kitchen so maybe it's worth asking them about it in advance.

Great atmosphere, food somewhat disappointing - Edit
The atmosphere is great, really nice bar, friendly people. Menu is vegetarian with vegan options. Unfortunately the food was too bland; my girlfriend ordered the hummus platter, which was simply a small bowl of hummus with many slices of carrot, iceberg salad and a few slices of tomato. Was expecting more than that. But do go here for the really nice atmosphere and bar.

Great atmosphere, great bear and cheap food - Edit
Although the food option were limited (3 mains to choose from and 2 soups) we had really nice, filling food. The place was nicely decorated the balcony/terrace thing was a nice touch. Also a good selection of local + german draft beer at a fair price. Definitely going back!

Cosy, friendly bar with good food and craft beers. - Edit
Went here on our first night and the owner was very nice, explained the menu in English and recommended local organic wines and beers. Menu had 2 soups and 4-5 standard mains. My partner had the lasagne with was a spinach lasagne which he absolutely loved and I had a chickpea chilli by a different name. When we returned a few days later it was the same menu but the varieties had changed. This time it was sprout lasagne and it was great!

Cosy bar with good food options - Edit
We visited on a Thursday evening it was not too busy. The staff were very friendly, spoke english and could explain the menu. A dj mixed a few tunes from the upper level. We were offered a selection of different beers etc. Food options were kept small .. soup starter (vegan crown squash soup with mint and dill) and several mains. I had the vegan and Hungarian dish Lecso (pr. lecho). This is a soup-like dish made from tomatoes, peppers onions - later I thought the option lacked protein .but was still tasty.) My partner (non vegan) had quesadillo) .. menu had a couple more options (a vegan pita option) .. note: this is a bar with food.. not a restaurant with a bar...

Great place to chill, good character, limited menu - Edit
Macska is a good find. It's primarily a bar/lounge vibe, with interesting, funky decor and cool loft seating. A great place to hang out, drink, talk, write, etc.
Read moreIn terms of food and drink, the main event here is alcohol, and since i don't drink, that left little for me. They have some juices, but not fresh. The food menu is quite small (only 6 items on my visit) so there's limited selection, but fortunately the penne and roasted veggie salad i had was well prepared and very tasty.
I arrived around 8:30pm and the place was completely empty. It seems the scene doesn't really get revved up until later.
Pros: Tasty food, Nice environment to hang out
Cons: Limited menu, No fresh juices

Top veg* place in Budapest - Edit
Macska was our favourite place in Budapest. Tasty food (about half of the changing menu is vegan), awesome atmosphere, friendly staff. We had Quesedillas and Burritos (vegetarian), a pita plate and letcho (vegan), as well as cream soups and cake (all vegan and super tasty!) And good palinka :) We'll definitely come back if we're in town again.

Lovely restaurant in a neighborhood bar - Edit
We enjoyed a nice evening here with a friend we met on a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter. The restaurant is actually really a neighborhood bar with a vegetarian kitchen.
Read moreThe prices for entrees were very reasonable, less than 1000 forints, and the portions were fine. I believe they change them nightly. The food was not amazing, but the place had a nice ambience, and provided a nice break after walking around the city all day.

diappointing from culinary point of view - Edit
I popped in here and were disapponted to find a smoke filled bar. The menu was very short and had only one vegan option, so I didn't stay. This my second attempt to visit this place. The reason the first time I didn't go there was that I phoned at 11 am and they still didn't know what they would cook for lunch.
