⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ - Edit
I’ve only been once so this is a bit of an impression. This is a small restaurant where you can get on a waitlist once inside but they don’t take advance reservations so that kind of works out if you need last minute dinner plans. The menu is sparse, service is quick and so table turnover rate must be generally pretty fast as well. The server was extremely accommodating in ensuring we got a table before closing on a Saturday night. There are 2 vegan dinner options: curry ramen & biang biang noodles. I got the latter which I was told would be like Korean spaghetti. That’s an accurate description. I enjoyed it and it was a large enough serving that I could’ve split it with my boyfriend if he’d been there. The menu is small overall so “only 2” vegan options is still a rather large percent of their menu. They also had a coconut sorbet that could be prepared vegan. I didn’t order it but I imagine it is the same thing served at M Sushi since they share a kitchen. I’ve ordered it there and enjoyed it.

So delicious - Edit
I’ve been looking for vegan curry udon since I got back from Japan and this place delivered! It’s so good. They had 2 vegan options this time, the curry udon and a red curry dish, but the menu is small so I would consider this place very vegan friendly. I added fried tofu to my curry udon for a little extra protein but there are tofu sheets in there already (I think) so could’ve done without the extra tofu.

Excellent - Edit
Two vegan options : Biang noodles or curried bowl. I had the noodles. Noodles were big, tons of flavor, sorta vegan comfort food. Very clean and cozy place right across from the Marriott, 50 yards down a back street. There’s a sushi place right around the corner with a similar name. I would give it 5 stars but the app doesn’t let me because they serve meat.

Decent - Edit
We found this restaurant to have decent options.
Read moreThe portions were a bit small for the price.
We weren't blown away by any means.
Curry Udon: ok, curry was decent, udon was ok, tempura was amazing. I don't know why they chose udon, this dish would have been so much better with a different Noodle or just rice.
Biang Biang Noodle: I didn't like this at all, I agree with another reviewer that it was too oily and didn't have much flavor. My partner, however did enjoy this dish.
Parking was a pain and the restaurant was difficult to find.
There is a small lot that is shared by several establishments. It was full when we arrived. We parked on the street, but were lucky to find a spot.
The restaurant is in the corner of a larger building and you step down to go inside.

Wow, definitely worth a visit, but... - Edit
Amazing food, quaint little spot, really nice atmosphere. An important thing to know if you're going to go is that they DO NOT take reservations, and there are literally ten or so tables. Show up early and be prepared to wait. I went for lunch and waited outside in a line ten minutes before they opened to get a table. Make sure you plan accordingly.

Tiny place with yummy noodles - Edit
It's easiest to go to this place as a party of one or two people and an off-peak time or you're liable to have a long wait. Only a few tables and a small menu, but that menu includes two permanent vegan dishes that are delicious. The curried udon is one of my faves in the area because Japanese curry mixed with the tempura crunch is super comforting. The biang biang noodles are pretty good too, but more noodle than veggie (just as a warning!)

They only have 1-2 vegan items but they are so good. Really one of the best places to eat in Durham.

oily, oily, oily, oily - Edit
I had a vegan noodle dish with mushrooms. There were about 5 pieces of mushrooms...no veggies...and just a bowl of noodles soaked in the oiliest chili sauce ever made. Yuck. The server was very nice at least. I didn't tell him how gross the oil was, but I left a bunch of napkins on the table I used to wipe off my noodles so I'd have something to eat. Maybe he got the hint. I feel like the ingredients in my dish were about 59 cents in the grocery store, but $15 in the restaurant.

Small restaurant but amazing food - Edit
This is not a typical Asian restaurant - and it might be hard to find, a tiny spot hidden in an alley next to The Durham Hotel. The menu is also small but there are 2 permanent vegan dishes on the menu and they are out of this world -- a curry udon bowl topped with tempura vegetables. In April 2018 they participated in the Bull City Vegan Challenge, adding a second vegan dish and keeping it on the menu after the Challenge -- Biang Biang Noodles with Shiitake & Tofu, Yu Choi, Cucumber, Radish, Black Vinaigrette, Chili Oil. I don't know how they prepared the tofu, but this is not your usual tofu - it is meaty and delicious! The shiitakes were my favorite part, and I love the spice! The owner is considering opening an all-vegan restaurant based on Buddhist cuisine in Durham, which I am looking forward to!
