Vegan brunch bar with all kinds of vegan snacks and meals - Edit
Vegan bar in the beautiful heart of Ghent, amid centuries-old buildings and the picturesque river Leie. Whole menu is plant-based. They have coffee drinks with liquor (Irish and Italian coffees), breakfast options, lunch dishes such as lasagne and quesadillas.

mostly good - Edit
Place has a cool vibe, and a varied menu. They have something for every time of the day.
Read moreI had a piece of cake which tasted good.
The only downside is that the place was kind of dirty. The floor was not clean at all and we had to clear our own table before we could sit. I hope it isn't always like this.
Staff was friendly enough and service was fairly fast seeing how busy it was.
Pros: lots of choice
Cons: not clean

Cozy place by the kanal. - Edit
We had soup of the day and sandwich with vegan homemade mozzarella. Good prices and a good options. And for the love of what ever you believe in, don’t miss to order the cinnamon roll! We wished we could have it again.

Very disappointing - Edit
It's very rare that I rate a place 2 stars, and even more rare for a vegan place, which I want to support and wish to do well! 💚
Read moreBut this was such a disappointing experience.😓
Was eager to go check out this place, in the city center near vrijdagsmarkt.
When we came in, we had no idea whether we should wait at the counter or could take a seat. We stood at the counter and staff ignored us. No hello, no welcome, nothing (yes, they saw us coming in!). So asked, was told we should order at the bar, and so we took a menu to our table to choose. Then ordered at bar.
Table was very dirty with smears of food and crumbs (also on floor) with several plates and dishes from previous patrons. Although there were only a handfull of patrons in the restaurant and plenty of tables free (so not nearly busy). We made some room ourselves by assembling it and putting to the side.
After ordering, it took more than half an hour for food to come. Two sandwiches! Meanwhile nobody came to clear the tables, so I just went and asked a dish rag to at least clean the table myself.
We had two ciabattas regina and pikachu (7€ each), potato wedges on the side (7€) and a soup (6,5€). First we got the sandwiches, the soup wasnt even ready yet (not warm yet we were told), it arrived 10 minutes later, when our sandwiches were nearly finished. If it wasnt for the fact that we had already had to pay (when ordering) we would have cancelled the soup by then.
Food was OK-ish, although many potato wedges were not properly cooked and the soup didnt taste like much.
Not accessible. Steps to get in, steps to toilets downstairs, didnt see an accessible toilet. Toilets were very shabby, with pieces coming of the wall, mold and broken flush. So small one can hardly take off pants to sit. Nothing to dry one's hands after washing.
When we left, we walked past the counter. Staff completely ignored us again, looking down even. No goodbye, nothing.
It all felt so unwelcoming, shabby and dirty. Don't think we will visit again.
The positive is we had a table overlooking the canal (looking through dirty windows though).
If I would have come here with non-vegan friends, it would have left a poor impression of veganism on them ... 😕

Good food - Edit
Restaurant in the center of Ghent, which offers sandwiches, lasagna and quesadillas for lunch. They also offer breakfast only in the morning before noon. Otherwise they make desserts like a pecan pie and a brownie and drinks, coffees, lattes... My sandwich was well filling and tasty. It's a good place for breakfast, to eat on the go or for a coffee / snack

For every hour of the day - Edit
Since I was in town and craving for something sweet I checked in with this new place (well, ‘new’, actually it started last spring). The cinnamon roll was smiling at me so I tried it out and it did not let me down. Could have been a bit more indulgent (that’s how I like my cinnamon roll the best) but it was definitely good value. I’ll be back.

Great coffee & long opening hours - Edit
We were looking for a café at 6:30pm and found most places already closed - but not this one, it's always open until at least 10pm 🙏🏼 We had an oat latte, a speculoos latte and a chocolate croissant, which was a bit warm. We were really happy with everything and also the location is really cute right next to a canal 😊

Amazing mozzarella - Edit
Although the menu we looked at was in Dutch, I could basically work it out. I got a La Regina sandwich to take away and it is the best mozzarella I’ve had. It contained tomato and eggplant too. The bread was delicious, I loved the breads in this part of Europe. Good value for a large sandwich.

Best lunch spot by far - Edit
First of all, the location can't be beat. We had a table with a view of the canal. I don't think I've eaten in a vegan restaurant with such a picturesque view. That aside, the sandwiches here were excellent. So much so that when we got home started making chickpea salad with curry powder as a regular dish. You need to go here for lunch in Ghent.

Croque in the sun - Edit
I had the croque with almond cheese, grilled zucchini and pesto. It wasn’t what I expected (melted grilled sliced cheese) but it was good! The portion was quite big too. I sat outside, but it looks cosy inside as well.
