Surprisingly good Thai on the Oregon coast - Edit
This was my first trip back to the Oregon coast in many years. And the first time as a vegan. I stopped at Lucky Thai Elephant with hopes for decent food but no expectations… and I was pleasantly surprised by the vegan options! Staff were very kind/accommodating, flavorful dish, and they even had condensed coconut for a vegan Thai tea (at an absurdly reasonable $4.50 price)!

Delicious fresh vegan food! - Edit
We ordered the Tom Kha coconut soup with tofu, lucky Thai elephant fried rice with tofu, and yakisoba with vegetables! They were very friendly and helpful. Easy to make most dishes vegan, just ask!

Dependable option on the coast - Edit
Lucky Thai elephant is one of our favorite take out spots. Most stir fry/noodle dishes on the menu can be made vegan if you ask to take out eggs/fish sauce and use tofu as a protein. The only vegan curry is the yellow curry.
Read moreNote: be sure to mention that you are vegan (or don't want egg and fish sauce) when ordering since many of their dishes seem to come with fish sauce.

Good yellow curry - Edit
I asked the server if any of the curries could be made vegan and she said the yellow curry. I got mine with tofu. It was delicious - creamy, slightly spicy, very filling.
Read morePros: Delicious , Short wait on takeout (15 minutes after ordering), Reasonably priced for the amount of food
Cons: Seemingly only one vegan option

Good food. Good service. - Edit
Had the cashew stir fry dish - normally a lot of stir fry dishes here are made with fish sauce or egg is added. But you can just ask and they are happy to accommodate. Pleased with the prompt service and friendly atmosphere. Love the Elephant vibes.

5-stars, if HappyCow would let me! - Edit
Apparently HappyCow only allows 5-stars on fully vegan/veg restaurants 🙄 The food here was incredible, and both of us are vegan! Curry, pad Thai, spring rolls, all fantastic.

Some of the best Thai I've had. - Edit
Almost any dish can be made vegan. Be sure to also try their coconut soup. Both my husband and I cleared our plates.

Wish I Lived Closer! - Edit
Was so good and the staff was super friendly and attentive! We went during off hours and it was nice and quiet. I got the veggie stir-fry with tofu and it was great! My brother got the red curry and it was also really good. He made sure to double check that there were no eggs or dairy in the curry but forgot to ask about shellfish. Still, we think it was safe but it's worth making sure :)

Favorite place in Newport - Edit
I came here with my family and everyone loved the food! As a vegan in a non-vegetarian family, it's sometimes hard for all of us to be happy at a restaurant but Lucky Thai Elephant is very accommodating with a very friendly staff. I ordered vegan stir fry vegetables with peanut sauce and it was SO GOOD. We'll definitely be coming back here whenever we're in Newport :)
