Vegan shakshuka and nice terrace

Really nice terrace and interior. Extensive menu. We both got vegan shakshuka which was fun and the ‘egg’ tasted really good. Also got choc brownie which was more like a cake but very nice.

Good food, nice ambiance

Menu with varied dishes. Today, for the fourth time, I had the ‘mo: mo: soup’ and for the first time the ‘soya fysh sticks’.

The broth of the soup is tasty and full of flavors. The momos are fresh and delicious and have the perfect structure and softness.

The soy fysh sticks were tasty, but they don't live up to their name. They were actually cubes of fried tofu with very minimal seaweed flakes on top of it. Still, a good source of protein though and quite flavorful.

Overall, I think Loving Heart is a nice and cozy place to enjoy vegan food. If you sit upstairs on the terrace, it's advisable to ask them to turn on the ceiling fan because with the sun on the flat roof, it can get quite warm. Downstairs on the covered terrace, it's cooler anyway.

I really recommend Loving Heart. The ambiance is cozy, the food is good and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Lovely place

Probably our favorite place for vegan food in Kathmandu. We stopped by for lunch once so far and will definitely come back again. The restaurant is located in the top floor of a building on one of the main roads in Thamel with an amazing view from their rooftop. We got some delicious chai with soy milk, amazing momos, the roti curry set and spinach crepes. Everything was just so delicious and really filling.

Pros: Completely vegan, Super friendly staff, Great options

Outstanding local vegan

Loving Heart Vegan Restaurant in Kathmandu is a cozy and welcoming spot located in Thamel. It’s Nepal’s first fully vegan restaurant, offering a menu that fuses global flavors with local Nepali dishes. Known for its homestyle cooking, the restaurant provides a range of options, including meat substitutes, hearty curries, salads, and Nepali classics like vegan thukpa and dal fry. The restaurant emphasizes sustainability and compassion in its food offerings, making it a favorite among both locals and traveling vegans. The family literally cooks for you from scratch after you order!! They are part of a local vegan community

Pros: Spinach crepe, Stairs tofu, Very friendly people

Cons: None

Nice all-vegan spot which is one of the go-to spots

We were happy to find another all-vegan restaurant in Thamel. The service and food was fair, not the best we've had in Kathmandu though. But definitely a nice place to go to for vegans in Kathmandu!

Pros: Fully vegan

Cons: Quite pricey

Amazing rooftop

Love this restaurant! I had the Kothe Momo’s and Potato Wedges and they were both incredible. Make your way up to the rooftop for a beautiful view. Friendly staff

Not bad, ok for the belly

The food was ok, maybe some other dishes I need to try. The burger was nice though not much flavour, fysh didn’t really taste nice. Pizza would’ve been good had they not forgotten to give it to me, so I had it cold and the seitan was hard on it.

Great food, very friendly

Super friendly people and great food options - I had the seitan chilly, soy masala tea, and an oreo shake. All of it was delicious and the seitan had perfect level of spice against my cold. Another table ordered a donut and that also looked amazing.

Also seems like a good spot to work; during the afternoon there were a few people with laptops/working.

Update June 2024:
They changed locations since my last review and are now in a tall building with rooftop seating with a view. Good was the same though.

Bon

Momos ok, plat de pâtes ça passe, pas les meilleurs, mon ami a pris un plat de pommes de terre et d’haricots blancs dans une sauce pas mal du tout avec comme décoration un œuf.

Best vegan in Kathmandu

We ate here about a dozen times during our few days in Kathmandu before and after a trekking tour.

Top quality vegan food including lots of flavourful curries. Large menu with lots of Asian and Western options. Friendly staff. It also hosts a local ethical vegan charity so happy to support the venue.

It's also amazing value. I think we paid about £6 for two main meals each time we went. Absolutely fantastic!

Pros: Great menu, Friendly staff , Cheap!

Cons: None

Excellent Vegan Fusion in Asia

I love this place. Medicine for the soul: every time in Kathmandu I come here. Food made by the vegan chefs with dedication and love. Local Nepali dishes with seitan or tofu, or vegan variations on continental. Try the V’egg or Tofu Stairs. Or if you want to try vegan Nepali get the Seitan Chow Mein or Vegan Momos. I can’t wait to visit the new location. Namaste!

Pros: Seitan Biryani, Mushroom Pakora, Sunny Side Up V’egg

family friends & more

One of the first Vegan restaurant in Nepal. The owner has a big loving heart and treats her customers liKe family. yes, the restaurant has had its ups and downs, part of it is because they had to change locations a lot.

I ordered Shakshouka, Buddha Bowl and Smoothie bowl (Breakfast). It was amazing.
The service time has started to pick up. Hey if it doesn't. Remember good things in life require patience.

Her story is amazing. despite her struggles, she has remained strong.

You can enjoy the small library, enjoy soft jazz music..

Happy

Large space, rooftop and in a quiet part of Thamel, owned by a warm lady who is a lifelong vegan. A ten year old first vegan restaurant opened in Nepal. Food selection and service is very good. Their ice cream flavors not to be missed

Disappointing

I was very disappointed after having read all the superb reviews. The soy masala tea tasted weird, the atmosphere was odd, and as they only have outdoor seating available (too cold in winter), I didn't go back to try out their dinner.

Dessert was lacking

I had high hopes for this place but the ice cream sorbet we ordered was sadly very lacking.
The texture was too loose and the taste too weird. It didn't sit well in our stomachs.
The fruit was the best part of the sorbet.

A very good portion/price rate, though.

Maybe the savory dishes of this place are much better; I just wouldn't recommend the ice cream.

Pros: nice and quiet place, portion/price rate

Cons: long waiting time for a place that was empty, not so good ice cream

Fresh, healthy, delicious!

Very cosy seating. Kind and helpful staff. We ate the quinoa burger and a curry with fresh bread, the carrot dessert and brownie with ice cream (the latter I didn’t even see on the menu, it was simply offered when we ordered dessert!). We also had kombucha which was so nice. authentic and delicious food. highly recommend!

Pros: Helpful staff, Clean food, not too salty, spicy or oily , Relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Could have been slightly bigger portions for us
