Nepalese
Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. Small, homey & cozy local restaurant. Serves typical veg Nepalese cuisine: dal bhat, veg momo, choemein, fried rice and more. If vegans bring their own vegetables, they will cook them along with chapati bread, white rice and lemon tea.

Small but amazing restaurant - Edit
It's very cozy, delicious and cheap. The owner is just nice. Dal Baht (190 Riel) must be ordered at least one hour in advance. Everything else is directly available and even cheaper. They also serve breakfast in western style: toast, honey, oatmeal, muesli etc., but the local food is much better and cheaper. The Milk-Masallah Tea is a dream

Super cheap and tasty - Edit
Good selection of quick style dishes. Cheap and cosy in the place. May have trouble finding at table at peak times. Go as much as you can😄and enjoy the foods.

Small, hole in the wall veg resto - Edit
This is an 8-seat vegetarian restaurant in Thamel right next to the Divine Guest House. Easy to find. Go in the door in the back.
Read moreA nice married couple owns the place and they cook everything from scratch to order in their tiny kitchen.
They serve dishes like fried rice, chow mein, momos, thupka, omelettes, chapati, and samosas. All vegetarian. They also have a good drink selection which includes beer, tea, soda, coffee, lassi, and water.
Prices are incredibly cheap for Thamel and for the quality and freshness of the food. The food is simply phenomenal. If you want dal bhat you must order ahead of time, like a day or so before. They don't make it every day because it can be a waste and it wouldn't be fresh.
Pros: excellent food, cheap, made to order
Cons: hot, smoking allowed, small place

small, homely and cheap - Edit
The cafe is small but homely. The owner makes his own momos and are priced very well. He's very so kind and spent the whole day preparing dal baht for me and a friend for dinner (as he cooks to order). Prices are some of the lowest I've seen in thamel area. Definitely worth a visit

small, but nice place with super cheap menu - Edit
Food is pretty delicious, also crazy cheap comparing to other places nearby(60 rupees for 10pcs of Momo). Also it can be kinda hard to find, specially if you’re not used to places to be hidden somewhere

small and lovely shack - Edit
You enter this small place from the kitchen. It just sits approx 6 people and the menu is quite limited. Everything is cooked freshly in front of you and the owners are very nice. Very cheap, very delicious. Can highly recommend!

The restaurant is very small but the food is very good and cheap. There are eggs and dairy, but it's a veg place.
