Lovely vegan fish and chips - Edit
I had the vegan fish, chips and mushy peas. I enjoyed every mouthful. There were loads of options to choose from. Our order was cooked in a separate fryer. Looking forward to going back and trying more off the menu

Lots of choice - Edit
There are 2 full menus of vegan food available, some of it is homemade. They have really made the effort to include vegans. I really enjoyed the sausage and chips. Will try the vegan fish next time. They cook in a separate fryer too. But the oil is also vegan friendly.

The vegan fish is ok and definitely worth a try but you can’t go wrong with battered sausage and chips here. The VG haggis is highly recommended too.

Not vegan - Edit
Went here yesterday especially for the vegan menu but the bloke cooked the vegan options I ordered in with the fish! What’s the point in that? He said the man hand makes all the vegan options which is brilliant but then does that same bloke know they are getting fried in with the fish and other non-vegan items?!
Read moreVery very disappointed.
Steer clear if it’s the vegan foods you are ordering.

The best vegan chippy options in County Durham - Edit
Absolutely brilliant vegan options for a fish and chip shop. Homemade seitan sausages are a must and the pies are equally great.
Read moreThey also get the staple right- freshly cooked chips which are on point! Highly recommend. #Veganuary

More than chips for vegans!! - Edit
Oh I was so excited to find this place. So many options for vegans. Man behind the counter was super friendly and said their vegan options are popular, which is great for him and great for the animals!

Excellent Classic Chip Shop with GREAT Homemade Vegan Choices - Edit
Great to see an "old school" chippy in a small village with friendly staff and serving a great batch of vegan choices when you want something naughty. Had the Avacado and Peanut Burger which was great and will be going back to try more - need a run first though!

Delicious - Edit
This is a fantastic addition to HC, I’m so pleased someone added it or we would be missing out. It’s an idilc little take out. They take vegan very seriously with ample choice and separate fryers to the non vegan section. It’s great that veg oil is used as standard instead of the cheaper option of beef dripping which is sadly used too frequently in this part of the country. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is really tasty, portions are large and it’s excellent value.
Read moreThey even take the environment serious with eco friendly packaging, I think the only plastic is the carrier bags and they encourage customers to re use these. I can not recommend this take out highly enough, it’s a must place to visit!
Pros: Lots of choice , Chips & batter, Great value

CHiPS - Edit
Quite possibly the best vegan friendly chippy experience I have ever had. Great bunch of guys, lovely setting on the front street. Honest and friendly. The vegan menu is quite extensive, just a shame they don’t do the banana blossom fish any more. Never mind, the battered seitan sausage and battered haggis and chips will do fine. Stick in some curry and gravy sauce as well as a portion of mushy peas and Roberto Martinez is the uncle you never had.

Fantastic vegan chippy food! - Edit
Called up while working to ask if chips were cooked in vegetable oil and cooked separately, was met with being told they have a separate vegan menu! Went down, absolutely spoiled for choice - actual different options with a lot of thought put into the menu. Chose vegan haggis, portion of chips, and mushy peas. Haggis was MacSween, battered and deep fried in the chip fryer. Absolutely delicious. Chips and peas were perfect, proper chip shop chips and peas. Portion size was large, was stuffed afterwards, and fantastic price. Highly recommend to everyone, excited to go back and try more things off the menu! Owner was really friendly and chatted about veganism with me too.
