Tasty food, great service - you should visit - Edit
Sarlat does not offer a great choice of vegan or veggie restaurants, so we were very pleased to see the reviews of La Chèvre et Le Chou. We were not disappointed with the three course menu we had, which the chef changes regularly. We had a roasted Celery and pear based starter which was fresh and delicious, and a roasted Courgette and tomato main course - also delicious. Service was great and the location perfect for a sunny day in September. Thank you ! If you are vegan and in the area this is a must visit. If you struggle with French- don’t worry the staff speak perfect English.

We arrived on a Thursday evening, there was an evening market going on, which we were not aware of. The restaurant was full. We had tried to book in advance bit didn't manage to reach them. Luckily we could come back in an hour.
Read moreWhat a lovely terrace, very relaxed. The menu is simple but clearly fresh. We were happy to find a vegan option in this foie gras filled city. Gazpacho as a starter and Buddha bowl as a main. Both tasty. Especially the pickled veggies in the bowl were flavourful but all in all we have had better.
The service was friendly but seemed quite distracted and slow. It took us 2h for 2 courses.

We had lunch here after reading about it via Happy Cow. The meals are vegetarian, gluten-free or vegan, with a choice of entrée, main or dessert for each diet option, or any combination. We thoroughly enjoyed our choices of entrées and mains; the dishes were original and creative, with complementary flavours. Hostess Claudie was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!

Struggled to find anywhere offering even non dairy drink options (not allowed to call it milk) in a town glorifying terrible cruelty to ducks and geese. This place served nice coffee and offers a set 3 course menu for veggies and vegans (see photo) Stops serving food between lunch and dinner.

Being vegan in France is challenging and too often the restaurant food has been quite mediocre. In La Chèvre at le chou, my faith in vegan restaurants was restored. The poke bowl was absolutely delicious! The textures and flavour combinations really worked. Gazpacho was also good for starters. Dessert game is difficult and there was something to improve but to get 3-courses with wine was a win already. Also the service was superb.

We had such a wonderful time and spent hours sitting on the cozy and pretty terrace and enjoying a 3 course menu (vegan/ gluten-free / vegetarian option). The owner was so nice and lovely and tried to combine the gluten-free & vegan options for me as much as possible. She took care of all her guests and we loved how passionate she was about her food and her restaurant and how dedicated to her work!

The food was so delicious. This restaurant has great vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Prices are also totally fine and the owner of the restaurant was so nice. She organized an extra table for us although the restaurant was already full. If you are in Sarlat and search for vegan or vegatarien food this place is a must!!! I am so thankful for this great expirience.

Incredible Separate Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Vegan Options - Edit
Amazing vegetarian/vegan gem set in the middle of a beautifully preserved medieval town! They've recently changed concept and name (now "La Chèvre & Le Chou) and are completely vegetarian. There are 9 items on the menu that all vary seasonally and week to week: a vegetarian appetizer, entrée, dessert; a vegetarian/gluten-free appetizer, entrée, dessert; and a vegan appetizer, entrée, dessert. Each item can be purchased separately and mixed and matched. We ate there twice while driving to and from Bordeaux and had incredible vegan options both times (the cold gazpacho while it was 30+ degrees was sublime)! The owner is so lovely and accommodating and was nice enough to give us some other vegan recommendations in Montpellier. Hours are new and evolving, so be sure to call ahead (same number as listed here and on Google for Le Samovar).

Une délicieuse bruschetta aux légumes locaux et de saison, suivi d’une assiette vegan méditerranéenne avec une ratatouille, un houmous, un börek aux épinard et aux petits pois et une excellente salade ! 🤌🏻
Je ne peux finir mon avis sans parler du cadre exceptionnel du restaurant. Situé en face de l’église derrière une porte en bois, le restaurant vous garde dans le charme médiéval de Sarlat et la cour chaleureuse et ensoleillée vous garantit de passer un bon moment en compagnie de vos proches ✨
Si l’application me le permettait je mettrais bien 5 étoiles, mais faites comme si c’était le cas svp et TESTEZ CE RESTAURANT ! Il restera sur notre liste de meilleurs restaurants vegan lors de nos voyages ! 😉

Super accueil par le gérant et le cuisto du restaurant ! Beaucoup d’options vegan à la carte, nous avons choisi une bruschetta à partager et une assiette “veggie” (façon vegan) chacun. Les produits sont frais, de proximité et de saison. Nous nous sommes régalés, mention spéciale pour le Börek à l’épinard de l’assiette veggie, une tuerie !
