Lovely vegan! Restaurant - Edit
Very delicious meals. We had the soup set and the ramen set. Both comes with salad, drink and dessert (little dango). It seems like it’s all vegan: the owner is very kind and mentioned to us that all dishes are vegan not vegetarian😄Plus: Not far from the Nara Station.

best and coziest meal yet - Edit
We sprinted from the station after getting into Nara to eat here! We came 20 minutes before they closed but she was kind enough to serve us. The food was wonderful, some of the best I’ve had while out here. The owner was one of the kindest people we have met on our travels yet. Hope to make it back out here one day! If you get a chance to stop here in Nara, highly recommend!

Really pushy owner - Edit
We went there for lunch and she led us to a table opposite to the open kitchen entrance. So i sat down with my back to the kitchen because i didn't want someone to watch me while eating (we were the only guests). The owner came and tried hard to persuade me to sit on the other side, but i didn't want to. After a few times i said no and that this seat is good she let me be.
Read moreI felt very uncomfortable at that moment and hoped that she would just leave us alone. Unfortunately, I had the feeling from the beginning that this person was very pushy and was afraid that she might overstep boundaries.
But we had the hope, that the dishes are good, so we stayed.
We ordered and after she gave the order to the kitchen she came back and said to us, that we have to leave because unfortunately there is a reservation in 15 minutes and we should come back later. What?
Yeah, something like that can happen. But she tried really hard to make us a reservation two hours later and wanted our contact details (what we did not because we were hungry and annoyed of her).
Cons: Pushy aggressive owner

Great Lunch - Edit
The owner of this restaurant is a very nice and diligent lady. She mentioned she is vegetarian for 50 years already and also shared some tips what to be aware of when looking for vegan food in Japan in general (e.g. Udon is often made with fish powder even when not mentioned explicitly etc.). The food was very good. We had vegan Udon noodles and Lunch set consisting of various small salads and two small croquettes with rice. We paid roughly 3000¥ and it was well worth it. The place is comfy and has a unique atmosphere.

Best Vegan Ramen in Japan! - Edit
Very friendly chef!
Read moreI had the best Ramen I found in Japan. And I visited at least 5 places that was high rated on HC. This was the best place. Full 5 stars!
My girlfriend had the Udon, they were also great. If your hotel is in Kyoto, it‘s worth to do a day trip.
Pros: Friendly chef , Great Ramen and Udon, Nice Ambiente

All round beautiful experience - Edit
I wish I had asked her name but everyone calls her boss lady on reviews so I will go with that. Boss lady was so welcoming and knowledgeable in the food she was providing running us through all ingredients everything was delicious and we had such a wonderful time bonding over our love for Fuji kaze! Do yourself a favour and get to this restaurant good for mind and body! 😍

Cute place near the station - Edit
I had the Udon, and really liked it. The lady serving was really nice and she got us to put a sticker on the map from where we were from. The meal was well rounded and filled us up just the right amount. A lot of places seemed to be closed on Tuesday so glad this was open.

Absolutely amazing! - Edit
Based on the Happy Cow reviews, I called for a dinner reservation. I didn’t realize Kinatei is closed for dinner, the owner opens when she has a group. Well, I was solo & the owner took my rese & I had a delicious and memorable meal! The food was so fresh and tasty and the variety of the 10 dishes was unbelievable. After dinner, the owner took me to see a local site I would have missed. Then she dropped me off at my hotel. What an amazing experience. I’m so grateful and highly recommend Kinatei.

Great vegan option, accommodating host - Edit
We arrived at Kinatei about 20 minutes before they closed. The host welcomed us and allowed us a leisurely meal. She chatted with us the entire time and even offered vegan suggestions for our future destinations and gave us warnings of hidden animal products in typical Japanese products. The miso soup was incredible as was the rice. I had the set lunch which wasn’t the best food I’ve had but I appreciated the opportunity to eat a vegan traditional Japanese set lunch. My partner got the udon soup which was delicious. After our meal the owner served us fresh fruit and delicious dango as well as tea. It was raining when we finished and she offered us a ride to the train station! The owner clearly takes pride in offering a vegan haven in a landscape that can be tough for vegans.

Excellent Food & Friendly Host - Edit
A great lunch spot only a few minutes walk from the JR Station. Yoshiko welcomed us very warmly and we chose between the lunch plate (4 items soup & rice), udon, or ramen. We chose the udon and ramen, and both came with a side of pickled vegetables and a little dessert plate & tea afterwards (apricot, grapefruit, and mini dango). Yoshiko speaks excellent English and was happy to chat with us. The food was delicious and afterwards she kindly drove us to the Todaiji temple! We would definitely recommend this place.

We found this amazing vegetarian restaurant on our visit to Nara. The food was delicious and would recommend anyone looking for authentic Japanese cuisine. On top of that the hospitality was out of the world. We had a great time and will definitely visit again on our next trip to Nara.

Exceptional service - Edit
Started the day at Nara with brunch here. The udon and ramen were bursting with flavor so we opt to try the kaiseki (only with reservation) for dinner and I must say, it was well worth it!!!!! The food would keep coming up until you were satisfied. We got to try different dishes which normally wasn't on the menu and it really demonstrated how good the chef's skills were.
Read moreI burnt my finger by accident from one of the soups and the owner went above and beyond to ensure I was ok. She even cut me a piece of aloe vera from her mini garden bed to help sooth the burn. She also offered to drive my fiancee and myself to the station to ensure we were home safely.
Highly recommended to try her food!

Phenomenal service - Edit
What a great place. It's neatly tucked away in a neighbourhood, but it was very obvious a lot of foreigners visited this place for a good reason. I ordered the vegan ramen and the staff explained what everything was made out of. Not only was the ramen really good, she also offered me a free small dessert. I will return as soon as possible for more great food. One of the best experiences I have had in Japan!
