Wide selection, great quality - Edit
Somehow I wasn’t prepared to see so many vegan options in the display case—there were just a couple things without the V. Our salami sandwich was very nice, though nothing you couldn’t make at home; the “lazy samoa” was next level and I’d get it every day if I lived here. Good coffee drinks too.

WILL RETURN EVERY TIME IN HAWAII. 🌺 - Edit
We could not stop coming here. The vibes were amazing - perfect artsy island cafe right off the street (that’s nestled in the mountains/forest). The sandwiches were impeccable and drinks were great. They also sold handmade items for gifts. It’s definitely a local spot. We loved it!!!! 🌺

Vegan and Gluten free items! - Edit
Offers several baked goods (cookies, scones) that are both vegan and gluten free as well as avocado toast and a veggie sandwich. Also chia pudding, soup and a veggie burger.
Read moreAlso sells cards and other wares of local artists and producers.
Pros: Large selection of GF and vegan options, Postcards from local artists
Cons: Too many things I wanted to try for only one visit

Poor labeling for bakery items - Edit
I love this place it’s really delicious and everyone is really nice. I’ve been here a couple times and it seems that they often rotate things in that section and it’s someone job to rub off the “GF” or “V” and or put it back on. And the people taking your orders really don’t know what the people are doing in the back for example which items actually are vegan and or gluten free and what is mislabeled. Because you can tell them “vegan gluten free brownie” and they just grab you the brownie even if the “V” or “GF” label appears smudged or is there by one of the brownie types but not by the other types. I ate a brownie one week and was fine the next week I had a different one and got really sick. Not sure if it was gluten eggs or dairy. Otherwise if you don’t choose any of the bakery items that aren’t on the physical menu you should be fine everything on the physical menu is clearly labeled.

So many delicious vegan GF options! I came here multiple times on my trip. Loved the smoothies and homemade bean burger! Also tried some vegan GF desserts! You have to go here if you’re hanging in Kona.

Delicious breakfast and coffee - Edit
Loved the vegan breakfast options (pastry or bagel sandwiches) and delicious coffee. The vegan scones are so good! I like that they let you pour your own alternative milk so you get as much as you want. The cafe has a very boho vibe with lots of cute locally made art and trinkets for sale along the walls. Location is convenient, right off the main road, with easy parking. Also appreciate that it's open early - we liked stopping here for breakfast when we were heading south of Kona such as to Volcanoes National Park.

Could do better. - Edit
My only complaint about visiting this place was seeing a plate of quiche and freshly baked muffins and scones sitting on top of the counter without a cover. Flies were buzzing around it and people were ordering at the counter, therefore, talking near the uncovered food. I wish they would consider getting a cover and not leave everything exposed on top of the counter Will not return till things improve..
Read morePros: Cute place to hang out, Vegan offering, Nice variety
Cons: Food left uncovered on top of counter, Rushed and inattentive servers at the counter, Not clean looking

Great food in a wonderful place. - Edit
I stopped on my way back to Kona after looking on here what is available. This old mom and pap store that was taken over about ten years ago by these lovely people offer a variety of great dishes, vegan and gluten free options available. I had the salami sandwich with a homemade lemon/ginger kombucha. Simple and delicious. Support your local organic farmers!!! They also sold some souvenirs, art from local artists and some tinctures and healing potions. Highly recommended. #Veganuary

A must-go on the big island - Edit
Really yummy sandwiches, we had the FLT and the veggie sandwich with the green smoothie. Amazing sandos with reasonable prices. Great vibe with lots of beautiful artwork and jewelry. The only thing that is a bit of a bummer is that they still have egg and cheese products and cow juice is the default in the coffee drinks. Still, a great spot for a quick bite.

Great vegan options - Edit
Been here for breakfast and pastries numerous times. Vegan options are labeled. Our last time here was for dessert options and boy did they not disappoint. Their lilikoi cheesecake was so flavorful (and vegan!). The peanut caramel brownie was also a solid choice. Friendly staff. You won’t be disappointed.

Kaya's quiche is well worth our long drive plus the 30 minute wait time!! It was so creamy and delicious! Besides the quiche, we also tried their black bean burger and veggie sandwich. Both tasted so good and so fresh!
Read moreTheir case of baked goodies is a snacker's paradise! We tried their GF granola bars and they were sublime!
My friend got their cardamom rose mocha and said it was the best coffee he'd ever had! Their build-your-own smoothie is such a fun and refreshing experience, so are their on-the-tap kombuchas!
The cafe is small with just a single table outdoors. They have shelves along the walls lined with interesting local handmade stuff.
They seem to get very busy during brunch hours so I recommend placing an online order and picking up the food to have a nice picnic on a beach!
Pros: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, Super friendly staff, Lively atmosphere
Cons: Small space, limited outdoor seating (2 tables), Very busy, long wait times

Hippie, Happy, Hawaiian - Edit
This has a true laid back feeling of a roadside coffee shop that also serves sandwiches, bagels and sweet treats. We ordered the bean burger, a “salami” sandwich, and soup of the day. The bean burger was excellent and tasted like homemade goodness whereas the salami sandwich tasted like something I could make at home when I’m in a hurry: nothing special and overpriced. The soup was good.

AMAZING - Edit
This is a must try and worth a drive! We stayed about 15 minutes down the road and came for breakfast every day. A majority of what’s on menu is vegan. Breakfast sandwiches, sweet treats, and coffees are out of this world. Make sure you stop by, you won’t regret it!

Great find! - Edit
We stopped here twice on our way to two step beach and the Royal Hawaiian grounds. Majority of the menu is vegan - the only non-vegan items are a few baked goods, hard boiled eggs, and a few sauces. The scones are delicious and it was hard to believe it was also gluten-free. The smoothies are yummy and blended really well. We also really liked the BLT sandwich with tempeh. Everything is clearly labeled.
