Unreal top notch food

Every single time they knock it out the park with flavours I'd have never put together or even heard of. George obviously does a lot of research and sources things from all over the world. The only thing nicer than the food and drinks is George himself what a lovely bloke.

Pros: The bubble waffle with miso syrup 🤤, The purple latte 💜, George

Cons: Are , You, Joking?

The Mochi Doughnut balls are a must try

Not from the area but stopped off midway through a long journey.

We came here as they offer a take away menu (dogs not allowed). They had various option and a meal deal for a tenner - poke bowl, drink and cookie.

Poke bowl was fresh and filling, homemade lemonade definitely hit the spot on a hot day and a soft chewy cookie to finish.

Because I’m greedy/intrigued I also had the mochi doughnut balls with a miso caramel dip.

Highly recommend this place.

A wonderful place

A very lively and welcoming space filled with beautiful art, topped off with great food.

The bubble pancake and chick’n was delicious! And the mango unchained mocktail was fantastic! Teriyaki rice was flavour some Teriyaki didn’t get to the plantain so I’ll guess I’ll have to come back some time.

Pros: Priced fairly, Wholesome & flavoursome , All vegan!

Something a little bit different

This is a really interesting and refreshing menu with lots of unusual flavour profiles and combos which is always exciting. I've been several times now with friends and we've always enjoyed what we've had. It's not a big place so I'd recommend booking ahead, but the staff are super friendly and is a fab addition to Shrewsbury's food scene.

Gorgeous gluten free vegan food!

We were delighted to get food from here - sadly not dog friendly and we were travelling back from a festival with our rescue pup, but they do take out, so we were able to sit by the river to enjoy our food. Meal deal is a good idea and the chewy black sesame cookie is like a brownie! Yum! I had a tofu and coconut curry and my daughter had a poke bowl. Hope to return next time we are in Shrewsbury.

Pros: All gluten free , Big range, Fully vegan

Cons: Not dog friendly

Amazing poke bowl!

I loved it here. The mocktails were delicious, the venue was lovely and the food was amazing. I really enjoyed the beef bowl but the tofu bowl was very tasty too.

Great food options

Booked with a table of 6-which can always be a bit tricky for staff, but all worked well, everyone very happy. I loved the sticky miso, really great flavours!

Pros: Lovely place for groups and couples. , Really friendly team,, Great food

Cons: The wait. It was even longer than we were,, Expecting after reading reviews. But worth it

Special

The food was very special. Lots of interesting flavours and textures. Good to look at too. The decor is very colourful and also interesting to look at and the music sounded good with lots of genuine rock/reggae/world music classics. Unfortunately the food took too long to arrive despite it being very quiet. We were eventually told that there was a problem with the induction hob, but we remember a long wait on our first visit last year, too. The quality of the food was almost worth it. The reason I don't give the highest rating is solely because of the waiting time.

Pros: The food, The food, The food

Cons: The wait , The wait, The wait

Unbelievably Good Food

If you're in Shrewsbury, vegan or not, you really must visit Kanu Poké. It really is unbelievably good Pacific Fusion food, the staff are always so friendly and welcoming and the decor and ambience are second to none. It's a carnival for the senses, in the best possible way. I can heartily recommend the Cow Kanu Skewers, the Forbidden Poké Bowl and the Bubble Waffle with Drunken Monkey ice-cream, but everything I have tried has been delicious, so do yourself a favour and go pay them a visit.

Pros: Delicious Food , Fantastic Ambience , Friendly Staff

More Poke than you can shake a stick at!

Having been visiting the team at Kanu Poke regularly since they opened, we have tried and tested most of the menu which I can say doesn’t not have a bad item on it. The ingredients are greasy and selected with care for each dish to really bring out the flavour. The creative specials always make for a good choice…. And the jerky to start is that best. To the point where I’ve asked if I can have 3 months works just for home! #Veganuary

Fantastic food - great place and staff

The food was genuinely amazing - unusual flavours that were both very tasty and complementary. Eating there was an adventure: plantain koftas, ipu hulu hulu with such wonders as roasted water melon and pickles, and crispy tofu with thai aubergine . That everything is vegan and gluten free is next level stuff. This is some of the most exciting vegan food I've had in decades. We're already planning a return visit.

Pros: Food was amazing, Staff were great - genuinely interested in food

Cons: none

An unexpected treat

This was a real treat as a stop off on our journey back to the north east. A lovely restaurant with enthusiastic, attentive and helpful staff, a great atmosphere and delicious vegan food. There is definitely a bit of a Polynesian style to the food with plenty of coconut and sweet potato and a bit of spice, which can be made zingier if you like. The decor is bright and busy with lots to look at including an octopus exploding out of the wall. I will definitely return next time I am down in the area. Brilliant!

Pros: The food, The staff, The atmosphere

Sweet, salty, spicy, spot on.

I honestly wish i was a skilled food critic, simply so I could write something more eloquent and befitting of Kanu Poke. The nature of their menu is uniquely explorative, thoroughly inventive, and wonderfully adventurous. Every dish, drink, and accompaniment comes with a story of how it was curated. I've been told on every occasion how my meal has been playfully invented, from inception right through to seasoning. Their food is meticulous, and everything is served with great passion, from both the chefs and servers alike. The restaurant itself is lovely, colourful and vibrant, and perfectly mirrors the food that they serve. A great deal of culinary craftsmanship clearly underpins every plate; they always contain a cacophony of flavours and textures, all of which have been carefully [perfectly] selected to serve a distinct purpose: to please the taste buds (and BOY do they do that), and to create a genuinely amazing dining experience. I've eaten a lot of food in my 38 years, but Kanu Poke has managed to serve up my favourite meal to date.

Pros: Exceptional, bubbly and passionate staff 😊, A perfect blend of sweet, savoury and spicy!🌶, A colourful, charming and inclusive restaurant 🧡

Surprisingly good

Everything was great. Atmosphere, attention, food.

I don't normally like sweet stuff so was a bit out there for me, I started with most of the savoury starters and found them a bit salty, I think if I'd have got a few sweeter fishers it would have balanced perfectly

Pros: Lovely staff, Cool decor, Tasty and very inclusive food

Cons: Bit salty if you're silly like me

Amazing food in a beautiful little restaurant

We absolutely loved the food in Kanu Poke. The succulent ch*cken was amazing and definitely worth trying. A little disappointed that they had run out of the caramel sauce for the ch*cken and waffles and didnt realise until after they had cooked the food, leaving my husband without the full experience of the dish (good job he had selected the mexican version or that would have been one dry meal) but we have to say that this is one of the more innovative vegan restaurants we have ever been to. Great selection of food, great flavours and amazing staff

How vegan food should be

F**king hell! This is what vegan food should all be about. Absolutely astonishing, on a completely different level. It was that good!

I had:

Appetiser: ‘Beef’ jerky.
Mains: Three small plates - Lo Bak Go, Shocked Okra, and Huli Huli Cauliflower.
Desert: Bubble Waffle with Cacao Nib Rum Ice-Cream
Drinks: Serenity, and Bombay Goodboy.

I’ve captioned each photo so you know which dish is which.

The only negative for me was the chilli in the Bombay Goodboy was a touch overpowering, drowning out the rest of the flavours.

Other than that, I absolutely cannot fault this place. The service was friendly and unintrusive, the presentation was well-executed, the atmosphere was perfect, the food was bangin’. Honestly, it might be the nicest Asian inspired vegan food I’ve ever tasted. My evening meal allowance is £25. I spent £42, including a 10% tip.

Even if you’re not a vegan, you’d honestly love it. It’s that good 🌱💚🌱

Pros: The food is incredible , The amount of options, The unique decor

Cons: Not open late enough some days early in the week, Bombay Goodboy was slightly overpowered by chilli
