Like at home - Edit
I had curry noodles and they were good and plentiful. The owner has been cooking vegetarian food for more than 50 year. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. Very cheap prices. There is soup and tea for free. I loved it.

Comida original taiwanesas - Edit

Good noodles, delicious dumplings - Edit
I had the curry noodles and it was very good. The broth had a good thick texture and wasn't watery. The flavours were good but it felt just a bit under seasoned to me so I did add some spicy sauce. There were plenty of noodles and they had a good texture. The vegetables had a range of different textures which was good for the dish. There was one piece of mock meat on the top, it was quite thin and it would have been good to have some more.
Read moreMy partner got the wonton noodles. They were wide and flat and very tasty. The broth in the dish was also very tasty and enjoyable. There were little bits of mock meat and something with a bit of crunch which both added good flavours and textures.
We each got a plate of 10 dumplings too, these were very good. They had quite a fragrant herb in them that we couldn't identify. They were generously filled with mock meat and cabbage.
The owner was very nice and was interested in talking to us (via translation app) and asking a few questions. He also gave us a free key ring each. There was an English menu to order from and there was a buffet option but we didn't investigate that.

Lovely experience - Edit
Went there yesterday evening and got right away invited by another guest to join him on his table. He showed me the menu and I went for the dumplings and sesame noodles. Both were really good! The noodles were so creamy.. yummy. Later after preparing the meal the owner came to us as well, telling us about the business and that he’s vegetarian already more than 50 years. When it was time to leave he gave me a little keychain which is meant for good luck! Really a nice experience and such a passionate owned business.

Great meal, special experience in Taichung - Edit
I had dinner here this evening, and what a wonderful experience! Food was cooked with pride and heart, and it made for a great meal. I had the sesame noodles (no MSG!) and dumplings - both super tasty and flavorful. The owner was so kind, telling me about the history of the family business. It made for a special meal. Very close to the train station, easy to find. Highly recommend!

Bland cold food..only for the desperate - Edit
Got there at 13:00 and buffet looked sad and cold, so I ordered off the menu. Got the pork chop rice and the dumplings. I received a small slab of fake meat on top of cold, bland veggies. Found a hair in the bowl of rice that was severed in a paper cup. The dumplings were ok but nothing to write home about.

Came out to 115 NT. Price is the only reason I didn't give it 0.

Absolute MUST in Taichung - Edit
Everything about my experience here was amazing. Not only was the food some of the most delicious vegan food I've had in Taiwan, but the owner is also really special. He talked me through all the buffet food and told me about how his family are 4 generations of vegetarians and he cooks everything himself.

Nice little spot near the station - Edit
This is a pretty small shop located in an alley near the TSR station. It's vegan, using no egg or dairy. They've got a little buffet you can pick from, and they also have a menu, which is mostly translated into English. I recommend ordering off the menu, as it comes fresh and the price is very fair. I was also given a bowl of soup and an orange, free of charge. I tried several dishes here and there was nothing I didn't like.
Read moreThe owner is a very friendly man who speaks virtually no English, but is happy to chat using a translator. He claims to have been in business for more than 50 years and attributes his good health to being vegan. When I left he gave me a little trinket and thanked me for visiting. Great guy.

Hole in the wall - Edit
I found 九六素食 down a narrow side street north of the train station. There were a dozen veggie dishes for people who wanted to put together a bento box. The owner asked me what I wanted, and after a quick glance over the menu board of rice, noodle, and side dishes, I ordered the signature noodles (NT$35). I asked him to confirm that there wouldn’t be any eggs or dairy, and he matter-of-factly responded that he hadn’t served any of those in the 50-some-odd years that he’s been in business.😄He then welcomed me to take a seat since I was dining in. After he finished prepping and serving another diner’s order, he quickly brought out mine: a straightforward flat noodle bowl with vegan ground meat and bits of vegan meatballs, water spinach, shiitake mushroom pieces, and Chinese celery. He also pointed out the wok next to the water fountain, which contained a soup with lots of different ingredients: carrots, peanuts, oyster mushrooms, soybeans, dates, loofah, cabbage, and other surprises. I happily slurped it up even though it was making me sweat.

Best vegetarian food in Taiwan! - Edit
Best vegetarian food in Taiwan, including all the favourite dishes with fake meats! Cooked fresh, super tasty and large portions. Highly recommended! The owner is incredibly friendly and attentive, refilling water, providing extra cutlery or napkins, and just generally being really happy with looking after his guests... We happened to be here during Moon festival, which meant there was quite a lively family-like atmosphere going on with people BBQing veggie snacks in front of the restaurant. Amazing experience!
