Great options and super helpful staff! - Edit
We couldn’t read Chinese so the lady recommended us dishes based on whether or not we were vegan, wanted a dry/saucy dish, and customized the level of spiciness too. The portions were a bit small for the price, but it was very tasty local food. Great options if you’re in the area!

A Second Visit to a Chaotic Gem - Edit
I was in the neighbourhood and decided to have breakfast here. This is the second time I've come to this place; the first time was many years ago. The environment was chaotic, with not many seating places and no air conditioning. However, amid the chaos, it was efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nevertheless, I believe I can find similar food elsewhere in a less chaotic environment and with better taste.
Read moreAlthough it is famous, especially among the locals, it's just not my cup of tea. I wish this place success nonetheless. The presence of more vegetarian or vegan establishments is always a positive addition, contributing to a broader and more inclusive culinary landscape.
Pros: friendly and helpful staff, good value
Cons: food just ok, noisy, chaotic

Best shop for local delights - Edit
I think this is probably the best place for Penang local delights like char kway teow, wan tan noodles, oyster omelette. Note that some dishes contains eggs. Do indicate if you do not eat eggs. The char kway teow is very nice though a little wet. The "oyster" omelette is made with mushrooms substituting for oyster and is very good too.

Amazing - Edit
Three well-filled plates from the buffet lunch cost us about 30 RYM. They judge the price of the dish by eye. Everyone was super friendly and the food was incredible

Jian Jian Vegetarian (cnr Lebuh McNair and Lebuh Tye Sin) is very popular with the locals ... which tells you so much. Go early to avoid the lunchtime rush.

Tasty Cheap Penang Veg - Edit
This place is super busy and popular with locals. Offers veg version of many famous Penang noodles. However I'm not totally convinced the wheat noodles do not have egg... not sure. They also offer veg buffet for pretty cheap. However I prefer a bit less oil, everything is oily.
