Many vegan options - Edit
There are many vegan dishes and they are tasty. We loved the okra and onion curry, paratha (flatbread) with cauliflower in it and vegan kheer (rice pudding).

Incredible! - Edit
Really flavorful vegan options that will satisfy your curry craving. I’ve tried everything circled in the photo and it has been delicious. Double check that the naan/bread you are getting is vegan.

I LOVED THIS RESTAURANT! - Edit
Being a vegan from Turkey where everyone loves meat has never been easy so when I moved to New York, I was so excited to be in a city with so many other vegans and vegan restaurants!
Read moreI have tried many vegan restaurants and based on my visit tonight, Jalsa's food is the most flavorful of them all.
For my dinner I ordered saag alu (spinach with potatoes) and a wonderful medley of vegetables on a toasted bun called Pav Bhaji The restaurant is informal and the entire staff is very friendly. From the number of deliveries I saw going out the door during my meal, I could tell they also do a brisk takeout/delivery business as well!
Thank you Jalsa for a great dining experience I will be back soon!

Great food! - Edit
Really enjoyed Jalsa! This review is a bit overdue since I went back in the spring. Believe it or not, Indian vegan food is hard to come by in NYC, so I was excited that a restaurant only a mile or so from my apartment offered vegan food. I can't remember exactly what I ate, but it was all delicious!! The only thing I would recommend them doing is organizing their vegan options better. For instance, my husband and I ordered take-out at the restaurant, and we got excited when we saw the vegan symbol next to their Naan. We went to order it and the woman taking our order stated, "sorry that's not actually vegan." This happened for another dish we almost ordered as well. Now if we had ordered online, that would have been a BIG problem. They said they were in the process of updating their menu to make it accurate, so I'm hoping that has happened because the food we did get was perfection!!
