Friendly place - Edit
We went here twice during our stay, and we can't say it's the best food we've had but for tacos at a non vegan restaurant these were a great option. Of course there was a $4 vegan tax for the plant based chorizo taco also. But the staff were so nice and friendly, and the margaritas were great. Definitely overpriced but I imagine that's the bar harbor way. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

Great location good food. - Edit
We did outdoor dining on July 4th and got to listen to live music while enjoying our dinner. We got the box of 12 tacos and wanted to get 3 flavors, they would only let us choose 2. The veggie tacos were very flavorful, but a little one the spicy side.

Rice with chicken broth - Edit
Waitress was knowledgeable about veganism and informed me that the rice is made with chicken broth. Willing to accommodate but not willing to replace non-vegan items with vegan ones without an upcharge. Decent food and service but nothing special. I got the fajita.

Good food on Main Street - Edit
This wasn’t the best Mexican food I’ve had, but I was glad to have some easy to veganize options in a nice atmosphere on Main St. I had a veggie burrito with no dairy, which the waiter understood and was happy to accommodate. The food was tasty! Good margaritas too. :)

Very Yummy - Edit
Fun spot, Mexican food with ample opportunity for vegans to find their way around the menu. Can always omit cheese Large servings ...My only issue was service. Waitress forgot our drinks Brought our guac forgot the chips. Had packed food to go forgot to bring it out. Hopefully just an off night for her.

The price is just too good! - Edit
My gf and I shared a veggie fajitas dish, for only something like 12$, and we both came out full! And sure enough, it was tasty, too. Can’t beat that price.

Could use more flavor - Edit
Good Mexican food is always challenging to find in Maine... unfortunately, if you are used to delicious Mexican food, Jalapeño’s may be a little disappointing. They do have some good veggie options on the menu, but they aren’t very flavorful. My husband and I ordered fajitas here, and they were a little bland. However, we are always glad to find veggie options. The people working at jalapeño’s are very kind and thoughtful.

Okay options - greasy and not too flavorful - Edit
Jalapenos has vegetarian beans and veggie as an option for a filling in all items instead of meat. I chose veggie fajitas but whoa, were they greasy! If you order this, ask them to go light on the oil. We didn't think the food was that flavorful, but we are from Texas, where we like our Tex-Mex and we like it spicy!

Mexican Food At It's Best - Edit
Right in the heart of Main St. is this wonderful, lovely Mexican eatery, serving delicious vegan options. We had chili to start, followed by veggie fajitas, of course without cheese and sour cream. Great food, service and reasonable prices.

Finding vegan food in a coastal town.. Phew!! - Edit
Usually coastal towns are not a good place for vegans to eat out, and Bar Harbor (ME) is no different. We went to at least 5 restaurants finding nothing to eat until we reached Jalapeno's.
Read moreUnlike other restaurants which had huge waiting time, we got immediate seating (for 4), awesome service, authentic Mexican ambience, great vegan options to choose from, and darn delicious food. The waiter was kind enough to mention that they were a very veg*n friendly restaurant, and indeed it was. Thumbs up for Jalapeno's.
Pros: Good number of vegan options, Good serving size and value for money, Good customer service
Cons: Nothing I can think of
