Lovely, Elegant (&Pricy) Dinner - Edit
The 1852 Grill, Island House’s fine dining restaurant was our “nice” night get out with 2 omnivore friends. Although nothing on the menu was tagged as vegan, our server assured us that the risotto w/ ramps & morels was vegan. We were skeptical, given that risotto often contains chicken broth, cheese, & butter. The waiter was patient with our many requests that he verify ingredients. The chef also willingly made my husband a risotto primavera, because he doesn’t eat mushrooms. Our resulting dinner was fabulous—so good that our seafood-eating friend wished they had our entrees. We also had our only vegan restaurant dessert here. Even though it was only sorbet, it was nice to be able to end the meal w/ something sweet.
