I absolutely LOVE the vegan pho but every time i order it I’m left with a bloated and very unhappy belly. I order everything completely vegan but something always sets me off. I am lactose intolerant so I 0 know when something has dairy in it. I get 30mins of pleasure while eating my food but then the rest of my day is spent feeling horrible. There is clear cross contamination at Ijji. If you’re a vegan that can tolerate dairy, you will love this place. Anyone vegan who is lactose intolerant will definitely have issues with the food. I will say that I every time i have ordered the vegan pho is prepared differently. So maybe some of the chefs get it but others dont. It’s definitely delicious but cross contamination is real problem here.
Made for a great birthday celebration for my father - Edit
This place is great! I took my father for his birthday, he got to gigantic plate of seafood, and I was extremely happy with my vegan pho! The staff is courteous and professional, environment is very nice. And it's good quality for the money.
This place is a hit or miss for me. When the kale noodles are in stock the vegan ramen is unbelievable, when they aren't in stock you need to swap the noodles to the pho rice ones which is not the move. Even more unfortunately if the ramen isn't in stock the other vegan options are bland in comparison (I suspect this is because they are trying to cover multiple Asian cuisines in one roof).
A warning if you are looking to order the Korean tofu hot pot: your mouth will be burned as well as the bottom of your rice. There always seems to be someone in my group that orders this dish despite my warnings and the pot never cools down enough to be consumable.
Our server was super awesome and went through the two vegan friendly options that were available. The one that stood out was their vegan ramen which uses kelp noodles and a mushroom base. I had never had kale noodles before so I was very intrigued and immediately requested for that to be our meal.
The ramen came with fried tofu as the protein, spinach, tomato, squash, sprouts, and green onions. Everything was pretty standard in terms of a veggie friendly ramen with the kale noodles being a really unique touch. The broth was fairly standard - tasted very much like mushroom stew that you'd cook at home. Noodles tasted just like wheat noodles and was a definite good experience to try.
Overall, really happy with our quick noodle stopover. I appreciated the team running through all the options that were available to me and made recommendations to fit my dietary needs. It was also nice to be able to bring our boba we had just ordered next door to sip on while dining inside the restaurant as well.
