Closed?

They were closed on a Thursday during advertised business hours. No indication whether this is permanent or not.

Overall OK.

I think this place is interesting, but it lacks a bit of punch. What we ate was, in my opinion, a bit dull in flavor. Had the Juan vegan sandwich, couscous, fries, and the empanada. And everything was OK.

I think if you want a vegan option, you'd be much better off going to the juice dive. More options and flavor.

Great place! Would go again

Vegan options, and staff very considerate on alternations. Did not seem like authentic Belize food if that is what you are searching for, but a nice place!

Try the Belizean tamales

The tamales are what they’re best at so make sure to give it a try! My server Adrian was happy to help me with their vegan options and also gave me the Happy Hour deal of $16BZ plus a beer or other beverage. What a great deal! I was worried the tamales would be a little spicy and he said they have a little spice to it, but I only tasted some spice in certain parts and otherwise it was totally fine.

Really really good food in the heart of San Pedro

Usually a veggie sandwich doesn’t sound all that great, it the one served here was SOoooo good! The curry was incredible- we ordered 2 extra to take home for lunch the next day. The tamale was HUGE and filled with tasty vegetables. Plus the cocktails were nice and strong!

Great place for vegans!

We sat down at our table and our waiter said “do we have any vegans or vegetarians here?” WHY YES YOU DO, SIR! Extremely knowledgeable and well educated. While reading over the menu we were so shocked to see that there was a connection to a restaurant we used to eat at in the early 2000s in NC that was one of the most veg friendly places back then, Flaming Amy’s. Small world!!

Pros: Vegan options , Clearly marked , Knowledgeable staff

Woww loved it here!

We loved both Juan’s vegan sandwich and the Chaya tamales. Service was attentive and helpful, and our server knew exactly what we could get as vegans. Vegetarian items are clearly marked! Yummm. I loved the rooftop vibe as we watched everyone drive around in their golfcarts. Oh, and please get the frozen coconut mojito - so creamy and all vegan! Highly recommend!

Great options for vegans!

They clearly mark vegetarian items on the menu and told us what could be made vegan. There is a vegan sandwich, and a vegan chaya tamale. Both great!

Pros: Vegan options,, friendly and helpful staff.

Best vegan lunch in san Pedro

The Waiter clearly knew the meaning of “Vegan” and gave excellent recommendations.

The bean burger was incredible. Tasty and delicious.

Definitely Stop here!

Went here in August of 2018 and oh my gosh! Amazing food. It was a pretty quiet night but so lovely! The food was hearty and flavorful. We did get our towels stolen from our golf cart so watch out for that. 😂 otherwise LOVED the large variety on the menu! I got the Juan’s Vegan classic (I think it was a special night) and it came with a side of fresh veg and beans that was so much better than fries! Made the meal feel so much healthier

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Great staff

Lots of options, great atmosphere!

This place is by far my favourite place to eat in San Pedro! The owners are super nice. They took time to your visit with us when we were eating there. They have some of the best vegan and vegetarian food on the island! Lots of options! Fun atmosphere. Wait staff is super nice. Our first night they made my husband an off menu vegan burrito. I ordered the veggie sandwich with hummus. It was so good, I ate it before I could get a picture. The second time I ordered the black bean burger. It's HUGE! Great flavor! Affordable. Tuesdays they have 2 for 1 tamales with a vegan option that is very affordable!

Pros: Great staff and owners. Server Manny is the best!, Live music, great atmosphere, Good prices

One of our favorites!!!

This place is the bomb and a must visit if you are in San Pedro. First...its a great space on an upper deck with some patio seating. It is open are and the decor is awesome. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly waiter😄We ordered the suggested coconut mojito which I would definitely suggest...super yummy! This is a very vegan/vegetarian restaurant. I would highly suggest the coconut bun sandwich or the veggie burger. Both were awesome. The owners were also there and were so nice to chat with about the local culture. We will definitely be back when we return to San Pedro! PS we tried to give this a five star review but as you know Happy Cow only allows this for 100% vegan vegetarian restaurants

Pros: Vegan/Vegetarian Friendly, Great atmosphere, Friendly staff

Great Food!

I really enjoyed the options I had at Iguana Juan's. There were vegan options on the regular menu, and there was also a weekly special menu that had a vegan option on it! The owner's wife is vegetarian, so he knows what's up. I highly recommend hitting this place up for good vegan or vegetarian options in San Pedro.

Pros: Delicious food

Cons: I found a couple of hairs in my food :(

Tons of Vegetarian and Vegan Choices

We opened Iguana Juan's due to the lack of vegetarian and vegan options available in San Pedro. Choices in San Pedro vary from "little to none" in way of vegetarian, with even creative salads at a scarcity, so we opened to offer unique and healthy choices ranging from our "vegan Sandwich" made on a house-made all vegan bun, topped with house-made Hummus, fresh avocado slices and roasted butternut squash, topped with lettuce, tomato and onion.

We have a full range of salads, from Kale with figs, walnuts, roasted butternut squash, feta cheese to our island vibe salad, which features fresh seasonal fruit, plantain chips, cous-cous and our grilled pineapple-jalapeno salsa.

vegetarian / vegan sides include: Corn & black bean salsa, cous-cous salad, belizean black beans, potato hash or a side salad

We also have vegetarian chili served with homemade tortilla chips (and try some our our Juan''s famous pico with those chips for an awesome snack!)

We also have our signature cinnamon french-toasted sandwiches like our ABC (Apple, Bacon, Cheddar), a classic BLT, or grilled tomato, bacon and cheese (and we're happy to substitute fresh avocado instead of bacon, to make any of these vegetarian.

Speaking of Avocados: How about some fresh, made to order Guacamole? Want something a little extra with that Gauc & Chips? We have house-made Belizean Cheese Dip and Belizean Black Bean Dip (and our Hummus) as well, so order individually, or select any three for a "Dip Sampler"

We also bake our own bread in house and feature a nice classic Italian Bruschetta appetizer.

Need even more authentic Central American food? How about one of our Tamales, served with a side of black beans, topped with our famous sauce and char-grilled tomatoes. We have both Meat versions like Chicken or Pork and a vegan choice featuring Chaya (similar to Spinach).

More Vegetarian/Vegan Options:
We also have huge quesadillas and a daily lunch taco special like Black Bean & Butternut Squash with grilled onions and avocado cream sauce or beer-braised cauliflower with pickled cabbage and avocado cream sauce among others that change daily.

Iguana Juan's also features nightly specials with at least one choice being vegan/vegetarian each day.

It's easy to come to Juan's everyday for a full week, eat some great vegetarian food, enjoy some authentic Central American cuisine and never eat the same meal twice!

Pros: Most vegetarian options in San Pedro, Great Burgers & more for non-vegetarians, Vegetarian/Vegan Daily Specials everyday

I cannot recommend this place enough!

After over an hour of searching for somewhere I could eat that at dairy and gluten free food, I stumbled into Iguana Juan's and I'm so glad I did. I had a chicken tamale which was the best tamale I've ever had. The service was top notch. The server was attentive, caring, accommodating, and friendly. I was going to eat there again, but they're closed on Mondays and that was my last day in town. I highly recommend eating here.

Pros: Service, Accommodating, Delicious
