No Food - Edit
I drove half an hour only to be told they aren't doing any food for at least a month from now. I had checked all their online info which say they are open. Very weird and a waste of time.

Best garlic bread I have ever eaten - Edit
Staff were super friendly, and whilst menu different from what was online, they were able to still offer me something amazing that tasted so good. Chips were cooked to perfection and the garlic bread was so good (I added vegan cheese to mine). My husband had the halloumi fishless chips and enjoyed his (he had a veggie meal). Enjoyed this so much!

Cons: More options would be good, but not essential

Great chips!! - Edit
I finally got to try the food, after a couple of years of hearing how good it is. Normally, I'm wary of other's reviews as I'm a pretty fussy eater but the Tofish & Chips (battered tofu, chunky chips, mushy peas) was great! The staff were really friendly, the pub atmosphere was on a nice level for an evening. Will 100% be going back to try more of the menu!

Great pub - Edit
Got the vegan Sunday roast here and it was lovely. Just had the vegan main (haggis with many trimmings), which was very filling, but there are vegan options for up all three courses (I was sad I couldn't find room for the chocolate fudge cake!)

Hearty filling good value grub! - Edit
This is a great no nonsense traditional style pub with a decently varied veggie/vegan menu. The portions were nicely sized with freshly prepared ingredients, and the friendly staff happy to accommodate any changes. If you aren’t bothered by boozy clientele and low ceilings then this place is worth a visit.

Pizza - Edit
We had a lovely pizza here, although they had run out of vegan cheese, but the owner (I think) came over and assured us she could make a non cheese pizza with lots of toppings and it wouldn’t be dry!

Loved This Place - Edit
I emailed The Hope & Anchor as they have vegan options and booked a table for dinner on a Tuesday. This is a proper cosy local pub and we got a lovely welcome off landlady Joanne. We sat in the bar area and ordered spaghetti with olive oil, chilli, capers and olives and a funghi pizza. The food was fabulous, the pasta dish was excellent and full of flavour... Joanne's partner makes the sourdough pizza base which was spot on and the pizza was scrumptious. The bonus of the evening was locals who play folk music on a Tuesday coming in and playing for the evening. What an enjoyable time we had, totally unexpected entertainment, fantastic food and a wonderful host. Easily the best pub in Ulverston and if you're vegan or vegetarian you will get well fed. Will definitely revisit.

Best vegan pizza - Edit
We went on a Thursday evening when you can get 2 pizzas for ten pounds. This is a really great deal and they were the nicest vegan pizzas I have ever had.
Read moreThe staff were all really friendly and helpful. There were three of us so we ordered three pizzas but they pointed out that was only 50p more to get 4 pizzas with the deal so made one up for us to takeaway!

Don’t be put off by the exterior. We were greeted by a friendly barman and a pretty extensive menu of veggie and vegan meals.

New favourite - Edit
Fully veggie with loads of vegan options (most meals can be veganised). The ‘fish less’ and chips with battered tofu is amazing. We’ve also tried the hot dog, burgers and pizzas - would recommend them all for when you just want some proper pub grub. The pub has a large beer garden and is dog friendly - perfect!
