Great Indian food - veganizable - Edit
Very nice and cozy restaurant with sea view. Most Indian dishes are veganizable. The palak paneer with Tofu instead of paneer is amazing. Masala dosa as well. The staff is really friendly and funny.

Ok but better options available - Edit
The place itself is nicely located but the staff is weird and the menu is very limited compared to all the other places at the cliff. So not many choices and especially for vegans, it’s hard to find something satisfying… even my banana coconut shake I wanted wasn’t possible to make vegan because of the milk they add to it. I asked without milk and water instead but they said it’s not possible because of the consistency…

Pros: Fresh juices (like they all have), At the cliff, Comfortable set up

Best go-to vegan place @Varkala - Edit
Great vegan options. They have some of the best smoothies here. The Nutty Professor specifically is very tasty and highly recommendable! Only pity is they don’t serve lunch and/or dinner. Really think that would boost their business significantly, since no place at or near Varkala Beach/Cliff has even remotely good vegan food.

Mediocre at best - Edit
I came here a couple of times and tried different menu items like the Arabian bowl (not good) or the spaghetti (not good) and it’s always been a disappointment, considering how overpriced it is. The Indian food on the menu is the best choice, the Masala Dosa is edible but western foods on the menu are just bad.

Very average food - Edit
Nice place but did not enjoy my food maybe it was just the dish I ordered. The Arabian bowl is definitely NOT what you think it is. It’s says falafel but it’s just a deep fried chickpea batter and the salad is some weird sprout salad and they serve Upma with it which is indian. It’s really disappointing when the food comes out and is not what it says on the menu. So I wonder what else they throw together if they don’t have all the proper ingredients

big portions, expensive, flavours are meh - Edit
i’m a huge fan of the big big portions here but it’s hard if you’re looking for a lite meal. pricey for food in india- even for varkala. definitely not the best tasting food around, didn’t enjoy many of the meals i’ve tried here except for their indian style breakfast options available in the mornings

Great selection of both western and traditional. Fresh, tasty and affordable. - Edit
I ate here on and off for a week and tried many menu dishes. The smoothie bowls, smoothies and Buddha bowls were my favourites. They were a good portion size (almost too big! You could share with a friend!) and so tasty. Nothing artificial are fast food-ish about this little gem!

Very good plantbased food - Edit
Heard a lot about this place so my partner and I were drawn in to check it out. Nice vibes and even better view being right on the cliff side. Menu pretty impressive (tourist prices) but we were expecting that. They specialise in western influenced food but also do Indian curries, dosas etc... but for us we have been traveling Asia for over a month so we came for western food.. as much as we wanted to order everything we could eat we decided to go with the burgers (chickpea and veggie) and then a vegan Buddha bowl to share. We also got some smoothies to quench our thirst. Maybe a touch to long on wait for food for us on this occasion but it was a good day for us so didn’t bother us too much. Drinks came out, basic but still good enough to enjoy. Food comes out and I’m happy with what I see, fresh looking and very appealing. First bite impressions, yum... not the best (I’ve had plenty of vegan burgers) but still very enjoyable. Bun soft and fresh with fresh veg and crunchy then soft veggie patty all went down a treat (ate in minutes) then stared at my partner eating hers haha.. vegan Buddha bowl nothing special but did feel good to get down some fresh raw veg and feed the body the nutrition it needs!! Overall I recommend all veg and vegan people to come and dine at white rabbit.

Good Vegan Options - Edit
This place is in a great location at the centre of the main tourist strip and has a really nice ambience. We enjoyed most of what we ate here. The soya masala, ginger tofu and veg burgers in particular were delicious. One dish was distinctly odd -the pasta with sautéed vegetables turned out to be pasta in a very bland white sauce with boiled (I think) cauliflower and carrot.
Read moreStaff are friendly and the place looks great. It’s popularity is clear as it always seems to be full.
Varkala has many places serving vegan options, but this is one of the few places that is fully veggie. I didn’t get the feeling that there is a particularly strong vegan ethos here though. It is worth taking time to spell out when ordering that you want the vegan option, as we were served yogurt with a couple of dishes. I would have felt more confident if more vegan options were marked clearly on the menu. They also currently have just one vegan dessert, a fruit chapatti.
Pros: Vegan options, Fabulous location and space, Generally good food
Cons: Only one vegan dessert, Most vegan options not marked on menu

TASTY! - Edit
I had the chickpea burger and it was by far one of the best plant based burgers I have yet to have in India. The space is cozy, and the atmosphere truly feels like home. Options for veg and vegans alike!

The coconut latte is very good, the smoothie bowl is delicious, the paper dosa very crispy, and the hummus the best I've had in a long time.

The thoran buddha bowl was amazing - Edit
We've been there twice and really liked the atmosphere. The food was very good although my smoothie (firefly) was a little sweet (may you can ask for no sugar). If you are hungry take a buddha bowl - they are huge and delicous.

Hit and miss - Edit
We had two visits here and the first visit was brilliant. We had the yoga smoothie peanut butter banana vanilla soy milk and cacao which was tasty and then masala dosa which was amazing and huge portions. The food arrived quickly and the staff were great. Our second visit was a little different. Our order was wrong 3 times and we had to keep sending food back even after waiting quiet a while for it to arrive. There’s plenty of vegan options on the menu although some of the ingredients listed aren’t clear so you have to clarify vegan options with the staff. A nice place to chill and hang out the place is modern and clean and overlooks the beach. Would recommend a visit!

It's a very nice and minimalistic place. Went there for a coconut chai, for which they made the milk on the spot! It was delishious. Didn't try the food but they had plenty vegan and really good looking options!

Great selection, staff, food, and view! - Edit
After a couple of days struggling to find a soy or coconut milk chai in Varkala (even at venues which advertised availability on their menus), I was overjoyed to find that new vegetarian restaurant White Rabbit offered both of these - and an additional option of vanilla soy!
Read moreThe restaurant itself is beautiful and the vibe relaxed. The location on the cliff top was ideal for watching the sunset, and we settled at the restaurant for a good few hours.
I happily consumed many chais here, ordered a 'soy meat curry' as main, and had a delicious 'yoga' shake for dessert (containing cacoa, coconut milk, cashews and dates - would definitely recommend!) The curry was made to order, and tasted super fresh.
My omni friend had the paneer burger, which looked amazing, and which she confirmed was as tasty as it looked.
It was a shame it was our last night in Varkala as otherwise we'd definitely have returned!
Pros: Exciting variety of options , Freshness of food, Environment (really nice staff; great location)
Cons: Slightly more expensive than the local standard
