Solid place to eat decent food

I basically went here every day. Never had a bad meal. Lots of options, good portions. Good prices.

Pros: Wide range , Cheap , Good location

Cons: Can get very busy at times, but not always

the food is sooooo bad

maybe it was holiday season, maybe it was understaffed that day, although the staff was very friendly, but OMG, how can one get so wrong with the food.

Pros: friendly staff

Cons: food is bad

The best in Varkala

First visited Oottapura 5 years ago, very happy to see its still here in 2015 (just beside the taxi station at the top of Varkala cliffs). The exterior is very unassuming, but the food is superb, consistently brilliant, full of delicious subtleties and invention. Enjoy!

Pros: Wonderful fresh Keralan food, Sea views, Affordable

Cons: The toilet. Best avoided if possible.

FANTASTIC FOOD- all veggie

We visited here on the recommendation of the Lonely Planet book- we were not diasppointed.
Fantastic food and really chilled atmosphere.
Has a great view of the sea from atop of the cliffs.
They don't mind if you sit and chill with a book, drink and snacks.
They remember us each year when we visit, and even ask after out children. Bringing them back next time.

On the first visit, I had arrived unwell due to dodgy food on the plane- they cooked me a dish which sorted my stomach out and gave me my energy back. Don't know what it was but it tasted fab.

Love the place +++++

Pros: Excellent food, great staff, relaxed atmosphere

Cons: basic toilets- not the worst though
