This place is epic. Just go there. For all meals. Our favourite were the nachos and the fresh cinnamon scrolls. Perfect iced coconut milk coffee. The lox bagel for breaky is filling and delicious.

Tiny house with big Flavors! - Edit
When the nice lady at the counter said everything is vegan we both swooned! This cute drive through with shaded outdoor seating was a highlight of our Hawaiian vacation. Colleen tried a Taro burger with rice paper bacon, and I had the nachos. Superb eats! We will definitely be back, as they offer breaky, lunch, and din-din.

I was here in January 2018. I miss this place! BEST chocolate cake in the world! For real! I really had trouble deciding which brekkie wrap to get... The only place I've ever been anywhere in the world where I liked their kombucha. Great salads... Seriously, I could eat here every day if I could!

Best plant based food in Kona - Edit
Okay okay, I’ll confess, we legit came here 6 times during our stay on the Kona side of the island! Herbivores is soooo good! We tried so many things and were always stoked on each thing we ate. Probably every single thing is good on the menu, but I can definitely vouch for the absolute deliciousness of the Hawaiian pizza, the Chick’n Alfredo pizza, the Greek pizza, the jackfruit nachos omg yesss, the Pono burger, Poke bowl, The Caesar salad, the breakfast burrito, the strawberry shortcake smoothie, the cinnamon rolls, the donuts, the s’mores cookies, the cheesecake and the banana bread! Haha wow we seriously ate here a lot and loved it all!!!! Just come and see for yourselves haha. I wish there was a Herbivores in every town of the universe.

Perfect start to Kona's vegan journey - Edit
As Kona's first 100% vegan food place, this is amazing, fast and has healthier options. It's so good I ate their many times a week and eventually got a job there because it was just the next logical step! The sweets have become my favorite, between the cinnamon rolls and the famous chocolate cake I have to channel my inner Zen Buddha to stop myself from filling on these amazing confections. My favorites are rainbow salad with a scoop of brown rice, chickpea tunah, and ceaser dressing. Chili dog over brown rice with sauerkraut and jalapenos. Lasagna! Nachos of course! Cotton candy juice.

Wish I had more time on the island to taste test more of their menu items. Baked goods were tasty and smoothies hit the spot on the hot afternoon. Next time coming back for the nachos!

SO happy to have found this place after a couple weeks of cooking our own food on holiday because of limited vegan places in Hawaii! We loved all the vegan facts and decorations around the place and the food was great. We’ll be coming back again! We also had some of their baked goods and oh my god YUM!!!

Kinda janky place but food is decent - Edit
First off, the negative stuff does not include their banana bread which is really [censored] good.

Best Vegan place ever! - Edit
I would give this place a 10 star rating not 5. Amazing options for gluten-free vegans like myself. Friendly people, beautiful atmosphere, great prices, huge portions. When you're on the Big Island, stop by. It will be the best money and time you spent.❤❤❤

DA KINE Vegan - Edit
Creative, delicious, and healthy, prepared fresh to order - This is our favorite place to eat on the entire island! Reasonably priced by island standards. We’ve sampled from the breakfast, lunch, and dinner pizza menu and we have yet to find a dish we didn’t love. The breakfast burritos and sandwiches are fantastic, and the BLT sandwich on the grab-and-go menu with home-made rice paper “bacon” is not to be missed! Their pizza crust is a little thick for my personal tastes, but still delicious, and the sauce, vegan “cheese” and toppings were superb. They also bake amazing banana bread (which you will get a little sample of with your breakfast) and other baked goodies
Read moreSeating is outdoors only in a parking lot, but they have done a nice job of beautifying with copious plants and shade structures. Everything is available to go, so you can always take it with you to your favorite beach. The service is fast and friendly, and it’s clear how passionate the proprietors are about serving delicious vegan food.
Make sure to visit them early during your stay as you will want to come back multiple times to sample other dishes from their extensive menu (4 different menus, depending on the time of day). We can’t wait to come back! It will be our last stop as we fly home, and our first stop on our next visit. If only it were possible to give more than 5 stars.
Pros: Delicious food, Innovative cusine , Great selections

My Go-To in Kona - Edit
I ate here at least once every day while in Kailua Kona. The people who work here and very kind and welcoming, and the vibe is overall amazing. I would recommend to at least try the jackfruit nachos! They have so many options. The breakfast sandwiches are also delicious. I can easily say this small healthy fast food restaurant was my favorite find on the island!

Love Herbivores - Edit
So glad to have found Herbivores. Convenient location with parking available. Lots of menu options. had the BLT because I wanted something different - it was delicious. Husband had the jackfruit BBQ and loved it as well. Was only able to get there once before leaving town. There were lots of things I wanted to try.

Jackfruit Nachos are a Must Try! - Edit
This little dive is a must try for any plant lover. We tried it for the first time on our week long stay on the big island and had to come back twice for the jackfruit nachos. The staff is friendly and very quick, with a menu that has something for everyone (even those who like plants less than others). Can't wait to come back!

Awesome place - Edit
I've only been once but have already fallen in love with this place. The staff are great and the food is delicious. There are very few food places I rock up to in a grump and leave with a massive smile on my face, this is one of them! As a big bonus the place looks like Fred Flintstone was the architect. If you are in Kona, visit Herbevores. I'm heading back through Kona next week and am already looking forward to getting some good food from Herbevores.

Don't Miss! - Edit
Especially for vegans (like me) and of course vegetarians too: Herbivores is the motherlode. We're visiting Kona for 3.5 weeks, and after a look at it's menu, a Buddha Bowl today, and interaction with the Aloha spirit-infected staff, I expect to eat ~10 meals here during our stay. Fresh, healthful, beautiful, diverse--what else could you want? Most (sadly) won't try it, but omnivores would love this food too.
