Delish and fully vegan - Edit
Delish vegan meals. I got the chickpea tuna ish salad. Filling, tasty, lots to love. My daughter got the jackfruit sandwich and loved that as well.

The MacVegan was better than the southwest wrap. Only covered and uncovered outdoor seating.

Excellent - Edit
Super cool to be able to order ahead and ready so fast! Our party tried the chick’n Caesar wrap, the Mush Love Pono burger, and an Uncle’s Refresher- everything hit the spot - our last meal on the island!

Pretty Good - Edit
The nachos were good, they have bbq jack fruit so they’re a little different than a classic nacho flavour, no salsa or sour cream but they did have jalapeños. The tofu rancheros were rather bland, was hoping for some avocado… and salsa though.
Read moreThe chick’n Caesar salad was delicious and the chili dog was okay too. The lemonade was sour af. Iced coffee was nice though.
Overall it was pretty good but nothing spectacular.
Pros: 100% Vegan, Whole food ingredients that are fresh, Cool outdoor atmosphere
Cons: A little bland

They have a bunch of fun options and it’s a nice place to sit. Near the farmers market. Don’t pay for parking- they will validate for you!

Wanted to love but didn't - Edit
We always hope to love a vegan place, but this struck out for us. I got the poke bowl (meh), and my husband got the loco moco, which was initially given to us without "egg" (tofu)--we had to go back and ask about it. My husband said the burger patty tasted like the old school Boca pucks--iykyk. Wish we were impressed, but sadly we weren't. Hope our experience was a fluke.

Nice to have this in Kona! Friendly people, good food. I had the chik’n pesto sandwich and my husband had the chik’n Caesar salad. We both enjoyed them.

Great healthy an regional all vegan food - Edit
Burgers, bowls, salats, pizza and my favourites: Natchos and smoothies. You can have fake meat like chick’n and “thuna” or propper all plant based from jackfruit to taro. People are really friendly there and we had nearly all that is on the menus during our stay on the island. Would like to take them home 🥰

Yum - Edit
We went here twice since it has solid vegan food. We got "tuna" salad, pesto chickn sandwich, Caesar salad, and loco moco. Portions were big and flavors were fine but not super creative. The food quality was also just fine; fresh, but half the lettuce in my Caesar salad was frozen, for example. The breakfast menu looked awesome, but we never got to try it because it's only offered before 11:30 AM. The strawberry lemonade and strawberry cinnamon roll were awesome! Service was fine and they gave us parking validation.

Tiny and Delicious - Edit
The nachos with jackfruit bbq was off the chain! This place has a quirky and fun aesthetic and was convenient to park right next to. Considering it's a tiny building in the middle of a parking lot, it has a nice vibe. There were some funny stickers on the chairs and a full on aloha skeleton!

The best! - Edit
I loved the owner. She was sooo kind and friendly, and the stickers everywhere are refreshing. Veganism is very important to her clearly. The loco moco and the animal lovers pizza were both tasty, not the greatest but very good in a pinch!

A lovely find - Edit
Don’t let this tiny hut in the middle of a parking lot deter you. There’s ample outdoor seating and the staff is welcoming. The plantain burger was good and served with avocado and vegan cheese (well melted too). The pizza dough was freshly made and the toppings flavourful. The large pizza is a good size. Tasty and healthy food is costly to prepare and, despite the casual atmosphere, it’s a bit pricey so take note ($102 USD for 3 adults including tip).

Hit and miss - Edit
Some of our meals were good, some just okay. The salad in particular was underdressed. They have made a nice space for eating, but it is still in the middle of a parking lot. And I had to spend way too much time staring at my phone to get the parking app to work - understand this is not their fault, but still part of the experience. Would recommend taking your meal to go.

While I loved the fact that the place was unabashedly vegan in terms of decor and vibe, the food wasn’t great on the lunch menu.

Spent the most time figuring out the parking. They have a code, but you need to download the app.

Really good pizza and nachos! - Edit
My in laws, husband and I ordered a couple of pizzas and nachos from this place. We got the Hawaiian pizza, Chick’n or Taro Alfredo Pizza, Margherita Pizza, Hawaiian Taro Burger and Jackfruit Nachos. It was overall really good, everyone was impressed with the taste. Unfortunately the Hawaiian Taro Burger ended up being cold a bit in the middle. I would definitely order from there again. It was really nice to see their cute location.

Tasty food, good selection, quick and friendly service - Edit
We had the Chickpea “tuna” salad, Pono burger and the Poke Bowl. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The Pono is a Beyond beef patty. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was out very quickly. There are pay parking signs but staff said you don’t have to pay for 2 hours. Plenty of time to eat and relax.

Convenient all-vegan spot - Edit
Centrally located with drive through window and easy parking and small outdoor eating area. Southwest breakfast burritos and breakfast English muffin sandwich were hot, tasty, and filling. Smoothies are delicious. Prices are expensive like everything else in Hawaii, but definitely reasonable for the area. Love the vegan literature lying around, too! We ate here 4 times over the course of our visit to Kona because we enjoyed it so much! As a separate tip, the surrounding parking lot is also cheaper($6/hr) compared to neighboring pay lots ($11/hr or more) but still within walking distance to the Kona waterfront/farmers market!

Quick, delicious, friendly! - Edit
If you’re a vegan trying to decide between Herbivores and Journey Cafe, CHOOSE HERBIVORES. I found the service some of the best on the island, with plenty of options that were very filling and cheaper than elsewhere. Everything at Herbivores is vegan. They have an outdoor setting, but it’s covered from rain/sun. Plenty of parking (and depending on time of day, free). I enjoyed the nachos and bowl, and when I eat dinner tonight, I'm sure I’ll enjoy the burger as well. Thanks for everything Herbivores staff!
