Total winner! - Edit
After spending all day at the Edinburgh Motorcycle show, where could we feed two hungry vegan bikers with one meat eating child in tow? After reading such positive reviews we made a beeline for here in the hopes we could get served on a Sat night.

The food was delicious comfort food and if you're looking to feed a fussy hungry small person with a preference for the fast food chains, this is a fierce contender! In his words "these are the best chips I've had in my whole, entire life"
Pros: Vegan pub grub, Full of flavour, Great for kids, great decor
Cons: Live too far away, I don't have a dog I can bring

Favourite vegan place in Edinburgh - Edit
Been here loads of times now, it's just too good. Really friendly staff and an amazing menu. The pizzas have come on a great deal since they first opened and they always have great specials. Can be a little slow to get food out sometimes but it's always worth the wait.

Great little place - Edit
This was my second time of lunch here. The service has been excellent both times and the food options, quality, flavour and value for money are great too. The music adds a great atmosphere and the staff are nice and friendly.
Read moreThe only things that I felt let this down from being an amazing dinning experience are things that could be rectified. It is a very cold venue at this time of year, more heating would make for a more relaxed experience and it would be excellent customer service if diners were informed of a specials board or given the specials options at the table by staff taking food orders.
Pros: 100% vegan food & drink, value for money, lovely staff

Proper pub, but vegan - Edit
Lovely place with a proper pub vibe (the nice kind). Typical pub menu, only it was all vegan! We both had the macaroni cheese (which was my favourite dish before going vegan) and it was gorgeous. My omni partner declared that if he hadn't known, he wouldn't have been able to tell it wasn't dairy cheese! My garlic bread was tasty and a little different, being made with a huge slab of sourdough instead of the normal baguette, and his chips were just the right amount of crispy. The desert menu was a little small and while tasty I wasn't convinced of the value in comparison to the mains. Though maybe that was just because they didn't have the chocolate cake I was craving.

Good food, nice atmosphere - Edit
It was a lovely little restaurant and the staff were friendly. The food was good, and it would be a great, place to take a non-Vegan, since the food, was l what you would find in a "normal" restaurant. I had the Mac & Cheese and was quite happy with it.

Good food, small portions for price - Edit
The food was really nice and there was a lot to choose from. Really nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. We had the philly cheese steak pizza which was lovely and the fillet o'tofish burger was amazing, but quite small for £10. We had the sundae for dessert which was £5 for two scoops of ice cream, but had a really nice chocolate drizzle.

Decent gaff - Edit
I am a huge fan of Mono, Stereo and the Flying Duck in Glasgow, so I was very excited to hear that a sister establishment was now open in Edinburgh. In terms of vibe and atmosphere, Harmonium is absolutely spot on... it is the kind of place you can stay for hours in, eating, drinking and chilling out.
Read moreWhen I attended with my partner, we were disappointed to see no specials on the board, but the menu was certainly appetising and it took us a while to finally make our minds up on what to order. Starters were good (pan Catalan and soup of the day), my soup especially so. It would have been nice to have some vegan spread with the bread, but this is only a minor niggle. We both had pizzas for mains (Philly cheese steak and Italian sausage) and I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed here. The pizzas at Mono are absolutely fabulous and I was expecting the same at Harmonium. However the sausage on mine was definately a Linda McCartney sausage, which I am not really a fan of. I was expecting something homemade and had I known this would be the case, I would have ordered the filet ó to-fish instead. The bases were good, but overall the pizzas were very average, particularly compared to Mono pizzas. We also had Cajun chips and green salad as sides. The chips were hot and tasty, but the salad was literally a pile of leaves simply dressed in olive oil and lemon (I think!). For £3, I was expecting more... some fresh herbs or an exciting dressing perhaps. For desert we both had the seabuckthorn and chocolate cheese cake which was absolutely gorgeous - this more than made up for the lacklustre mains. Drinks were also excellent - I haven't had a white Russian in years and it was a real treat to enjoy a totally vegan version.
The service is quite 'Millennial' - friendly enough, but a lot of chatting at the bar and we had to go up several times to order drinks as we were somewhat ignored.
I will definitely return, and I am very pleased that a place like Harmonium has opened in Edinburgh. Hopefully the food will refine over time and I am already dreaming about when I can have the cheese cake again!
Pros: Good atmosphere , Totally vegan, Excellent cheese cake

Long walk and excellent food! - Edit
I nearly didn't come here because it was so far away from central Edinburgh, but everyone I met in the city recommended me to come to Harmonium.
Read moreAfter 1 hour walk I came to the restaurant and ordered both starter and main. King oyster mushroom scallops and wild mushroom kale rigatoni. Both dishes were so good, especially the rigatoni. I am so glad I took the time to come to this restaurant. Both food and service were excellent!

Great - Edit
Went in after a long walk down the Water of Leith and had s great time. Between two of us we had two starters, two mains, and a carafe of wine which came to £45 which is pretty reasonable.
Read moreI had the oyster mushroom ‘scallops’ with chorizo to start which were lovely, although I think removing the word scallops from the name would be an improvement - the entire menu was full of items where the veganisation of omni foods would have been better served by just saying what they actually were.
All of our other food was great as well.
The only issue we had was that our service was a bit inattentive. We waited a very long time to have our order taken (and the waitress was behind the bar on her phone), and again when she forgot to bring us the water we had asked for, and again was behind the bar on her phone. However, we came at a quiet time and having worked service I understand that you have to take any moment you can.
Pros: Great food, nice space , good selection of wine & beer
Cons: Inattentive service

Not really my kind of food (it's more like a fast food and pub style) but when I am on holiday I do exceptions from my healthy diet ;)

I've been here a few times now and it's been great! The macaroni cheese is so good, definitely a favourite, so are the fries. The small plates and the starters are tasty too. Didn't enjoy the burger too much, but that's just my preference as I found it a bit thick/dry.

Absolutely fantastic food! - Edit
My partner and I were so excited that another vegan restaurant opened up in Edinburgh which can be a bit bland on veggie food. I ordered the tofu banh mi and a strawberry cocktail and my partner ordered the katsu curry and a glass of wine. We both enjoyed our meals and I was particularly in love with mine! We also had the Swedish cardamom bun with vegan ice cream for dessert which was very tasty. Our bill came to around £38 plus tip which is a bit pricey but we felt the food was great and it had a nice atmosphere. We'll be sure to go here again on special occasions and date nights!

Brilliant!! - Edit
5* basically perfect. Extensive and varied fully vegan menu. We are used to one or maybe two options when eating out - this place reintroduced me to the world of having to make decisions in restaurants! Such tough decisions! Also a full bar with 10 vegan beers and 3 vegan ales on tap. We had a tofish burger, mac n cheese, beer, wine, cheesecake for dessert. All delicious! Relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a chilled location. Staff very friendly (sadly unlike so many other vegan places). Reasonably priced. Will recommend to all.

Great addition to Edinburgh - Edit
I was lucky to win a meal and cocktails for two for Edinburgh's new vegan restaurant. The food was delicious - I loved the burger and cheesecake particularly. (Would have preferred a tad less mustard on the pizza.) The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had booked for 12:30 and were told the kitchen wouldn't be open until 1pm, which wasn't unexpected as this has been the case quite often over the last 4 weeks they've been open, so be prepared for that.

Amazing - Edit
My boyfriend and I made the trip out to Leith for a late lunch yesterday and LOVED Harmonium. We talked about how delicious and reasonably priced the food was for the rest of the day. We ordered a mushroom pasta, a crabcake dish, and a sundae, and I would happily have fed any of it to anyone, vegan or not. Harmonium will definitely be on my list of Edinburgh recommendations for other people and I can't wait to return myself.
